    Hey guys I bought the rear shocks and immediately noticed a difference and when I go down washboard roads they seem to help. Is it possible to get them anywhere other than van compass? Just look and Van Compass doesn't have them anymore. Are unavailable from your links I paid over double what the price on your link is at Van compass.

      Thanks for watching! We are in Baja and loving them more every day. A few places to try would be VanUpgrades.com, Eurocampers.com, and sprinterstore.com. Make sure to tell them we sent you. I've been trying to get a discount code for our viewers so letting them know might help......no luck so far.

      @@DrifterJourney OK I’ll be persistent about it but I’m going to wait and see if Amazon gets them. Thanks for the options. The reason I bought the Coney‘s is because they sponsor Jay Leno. It’s interesting how shocks are generally manufactured in Germany Netherlands Japan and not China

      We'd love if you buy through our Amazon link if they ever get them. It would toss a few bucks our way. Jay is the sh*t. They made us ambassadors so maybe they'll link us up with him at some point. 😉

    Thanks for going over the install. That was going to be my question as to whether or not you could do it yourself. Hubby currently has a Land Cruiser in hundreds of pieces and if he can reassemble that I think I would trust him to do the shocks on the van. 👍🤣

    Hi guys! Good information, thank you. I know it's been over a year now and we were wondering how you feel about the front struts now. We are getting ready to upgrade as we spend much of our time off-road. Thanks again.

      We are still happy with them after all of the miles driven this last year. They are holding up and we would still recommend them for anyone who is looking to drive a lot of bumpy roads since the stock suspension is so bad. Thanks for watching and happy travels!

    Awesome info! Have you noticed less rattling inside the van?

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  Рік тому

      I wouldn't say it made a significant impact on rattling from bumpy roads like washboards. What makes a huge difference for us with that is airing down the tires. We carry a compressor with us to air back up to a safe psi for pavement.

    • @codyleehanson
      @codyleehanson 10 місяців тому +1

      @@DrifterJourneyWhat PSI do you like to run off-road? And for highway too?

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  10 місяців тому

      @codyleehanson thanks for watching! I ran 72 all around for road driving and dropped them down to around 28 when off road. I'm guessing each van would like slight changes depending on build weight so you might need to play around with it a little.

    VB Coilsprings at the same time as doing the fronts save the need for sumo spring assisters.

    Hi, my question to the upgrade, did you notice a more pronounced steering wheel movement (rotation, jitter) on transverse joints or on gravel roads since change to the KONI FSD`s..? Did you also adjust toe (tracking) angle?

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  Рік тому

      Hi and thank you for watching! I didn't notice any more steering wheel movement.....maybe less if anything (felt smoother). I'm not sure if the installer adjusted the toe angle but my guess is that they did not.

    Hey guys. Great video. I was about to pull the trigger when I realized there are 2 different lengths for the rear Koni FSD shock. How did you determine which you needed? Did you first pull the old shock off and measure? I have 2018 2500 159“ high roof. Thanks in advance

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! We have the parts we used listed in the video description (Rear: 8205 1006). Koni accidentally sent us the wrong part first and it was too short. I'm not sure which vans are using the shorter shocks but I'd imagine the part we have should work for you as long as you have the standard rear leaf spring suspension with the fake "axle".

    Hi there,
    Aren't these called Special Active shocks and struts? I subbed.
    My 2014 Mazda3 is ok but it is horrible for ride comfort. Crash and bumpy, very stiff and feel every road texture. Don't get me started on speed bumps or potholes.
    I outfitted Goodyear Comfortdrive with 16" steel rims. Still loud and bumpy.
    Would buying Special Active shocks and struts for my car improve it drastically or marginally like my tires? I want it to float and be very smooth over any road surface.

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! Your application is completely different with a sporty car than our giant van. We love how the shocks perform for us and I'd imagine you would like them too. Here is a forum that I found with some folks that tried them out. Let us know what you think if you give them a try.

      @@DrifterJourney that sucks. Special Active shocks and struts are around $800 for my car. Installation is $700 however I am seeing if there's cheaper options.
      😣

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah. We were quoted $700-1000 (went with the $700 place) for install. The shocks aren't cheap but we think they are worth it for our application......especially for anyone already buying a set. Good luck with your search!

      @@DrifterJourney Hi again, I found the part numbers for the front and rear:
      8745 1336L and 1336R. The rear is 8045 1337. Does this mean I would need to buy one of the 1336L and 1336R but TWO of the 1337?
      What other parts would I buy for the car for installation? The dealer quoting me $700 said the springs and strut plate may need replacing but Koni told me combining the shocks and struts with OEM springs would give me the best ride comfort.
      Any other springs I should look for? I just care for smooth ride and not really a handling guy...

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  2 роки тому

      That's a great question. I'd say your best bet is to talk to Koni and get their expert advice. It might be worth looking/asking around your specific car community to see what others are doing. We kept the stock springs on our van.

    Thank you for this video. Looked around and noticed Koni also the Rear 8205 1008. Says is for "L Max 444mm - L Min 295mm" vs. "L Max 469mm - L Min 307mm" for the 8205 1006. Do you know what the difference is? Thank you in advance! I have the 2500 159" High Roof. Looks like that is what you guys have as well.

      @@DrifterJourney Prior to finding your video, I was considering removing the smaller rear leaf springs (1 per side) to make the ride more pleasant, as others have done. Just to confirm--you have not done this, correct? In other words, your setup with the Koni Rear 8205 1006 is with both of the stock leaf springs intact, right? Thank you!

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  2 роки тому

      That is correct. We have stock leaf springs and the KONI's. We also have Sumo springs front and rear. I haven't heard of removing a leaf spring but would be hesitant with all the weight of a built out rig.
