There were very few guitarists in that time period that had the: skill, creativity and inventiveness of MT. His phrasing & interpretation of a song is unmatched by his contemporaries at that time.
His contribution to the Rolling Stones , specially during concerts, was never matched again. Remember Mick Taylor was only 20 when he joined the Stones in 1969 and as Jagger would later say (after Taylors departure from the band) of Taylor's contribution to the band: "I think he had a big contribution. He made it very musical. He was a very fluent, melodic player, which we never had, and we don't have now"
In 1972...when I was 15..... I used my cassette tape player to record the Stones off the radio from the "King Biscuit Flower Hour"....I listened to that until the tape broke. That's where I 1st really heard Mick Taylor. Just SO good and melodic. Almost TOO good for the more "street sounding" Stones. The solo on Heartbreaker still resonates in my head and almost brought a tear listening to this again.......Thank you
That show stood out. I had it on bootleg. Another king biscuit show I loved was Eric Clapton around the same time. I’m going to try and find it on Utube
We are blessed with loads of great bootlegs of the Stones from this era. So that means loads of opportunity to hear how much Mick T contributed to the sound of the Stones. The Stones were the greatest band ever between about 1969 and 1973/4. Guess why.
Everytime I listen to Mick Taylor´s playing I realize, he´s even influenced me more than Clapton, Hendrix, Page and P.Green. When I play a solo it always comes out like it was Mick Taylor playing.
Even Keef said that this band was the best they ever had. They've never been the same & neither has Mick, unfortunately. Having soundboards from so many '72-'73 shows is one of the joys of my musical life. I just wish they would put out more then just the Brussels show.
thanks for this; can't get enough of his guitar. Yes, too bad he left. However, as an 80 yo who has seen the Stones 8 times since 89, they have sure entertained me. Never heard any of the famous guitar players of the 60's & 70's mention Mick Taylor. Not even one word. ? I think I know why they never mention him, and their silence speaks volumes. There has never been a more gifted guitar player than Mick Taylor, and they all know it. Very cool that people are still acknowledging his formidable skill, and his prowess. He was a very talented and gifted young man, and I don't believe he has been bested. I love to listen to all the greats, but to me, they { all of them }, finish behind Mick Taylor. " The people, they step back, when a young man walks by. "
The Stones should release again "Get Your Ya Ya's out" . But this time make Mick Taylor's guitar as loud if not louder than Keith's. it's a crime the way the original was mixed. what's the matter Keith ??? JEALOUS !!!!
Keith was pretty petty about Mick’s superior guitar prowess. Here’s how you fix Get Yer Ya-Yas Out. Use audio editing software to boost the left channel about 40-50%. Then convert the file to mono and…voilá, you’ve got a one channel remix with Mick up front. I’ve done this with I’m Goin’ Down by the Jeff Beck Group. Jeff’s incredible guitar was crowded by Max Middleton’s piano. Not anymore.
Saw MT 4 times at the Forum 69. 72x2 and 1973. Then 3 in 75 at Forum. After the shows were over I thought to my self the sound mixer did a lousy job. Because I never heard a lead guitar. At that time I wasn’t aware that Mick Taylor provided that sound.

Mick certainly made the greatest rock and roll band in the world better. Hard to imagine anyone could change the way the stones sounded. Try to find « Little Red Rooster » wich is an non offical live in Hunagry. Not a bootleg with rotten sound. Realy awesome. It’s not easy to find. It was a gift from my brother who is a big fan of Mick Talor and Gary Moore
Me too ! I’ve seen the stones play with Mick Taylor and Ron wood live but now I’m retired I’ve got the time to enjoy and discover more about their music
Jagger having Taylor was like letting the Ferrari out of the garage
:) :) :) :) right
Who's Jagger?
@@netosampaio8548 Taylor, a Ferrari is make to roll, not to stay in the garage, no???
Wow don't think it get any better. M.T. is beyond words...right?
I think those words did quite well….
His slide guitar in "Love In Vain" is sublime.
i second that. but listen to his lead at the end of midnight rambler on the yayas album...its is smooth.
great use of the underrated word "sublime"
get yer yayas out is a brilliant live album
MICK TAYLOR UNO DEI PIÙ VIRTUOSI R'T'B' DI SEMPRE!💪❤💪
I've seen Taylor 5 times, with Mayall in 68, with the Stones in '69, and solo in 99. He never disappoints!
Greatest guitar the Stones ever had a fact which Keith is happy to concede
The best Stones bootlegs all have Mick Taylor on them.
Mike the BEST 😜🎸🔥🎸🔥💖
A wonderful chapter in Rolling Stones history!
The best , Charlie in an interview said The Stones lost their soul
Love in vain solo Is fantastic!!
You mean from " The Get Yer Ya's Out " live album ??
That simple whistling was a kick ass touch.🫡
There were very few guitarists in that time period that had the: skill, creativity and inventiveness of MT. His phrasing & interpretation of a song is unmatched by his contemporaries at that time.
Exactly. He crafted melodic masterpieces every time he played.
He was a very fluent, melodic player, which we never had, and we don't have now"
Love this solo!! On fire !! Heartbreakers guitar is awesome.
The solo on Heartbreaker still resonates in my head and almost brought a tear listening to this again.......Thank you
KBFH, oh my….
King Biscuit FLOUR Hour. Back in the day I enjoyed those syndicated FM radio broadcasts.
That has a different sound now.
That show stood out. I had it on bootleg. Another king biscuit show I loved was Eric Clapton around the same time. I’m going to try and find it on Utube
By far the best and most skilled lead guitarist The Stones ever had.
Ever.
I saw MT with the Stones in November 1969 in Chicago ( Amphitheater) kicking ass & taking names!
Great Mick tailor 👍👍
3:29 mick taylor,!! when he starts flying and really hits his stride might b one the greatest guitarist ever.
Is he playing the wah guitar part?
LADIES and GENTLEMEN ...
MISTER MICK TAYLOR
Taken fron Brussel Affairs, one of the most nice bootleg ever produced (better than the official release). Great sound and great performance.
Even Keef said that this band was the best they ever had. They've never been the same & neither has Mick, unfortunately. Having soundboards from so many '72-'73 shows is one of the joys of my musical life. I just wish they would put out more then just the Brussels show.
The greatest of all time. Fullstop.
agreed
He was definitely the icing on Mick and Keith’s cake, Sweeeeeeeet! Never tasted the same again
Mick Taylor brought to The Rolling Stones a little Led Zeppelin with his Raw Style... Simply Brilliant✨️ 👏😃
Keith is raw. Mick Taylor has a smooth polished style
@@flyingburritobro68 Keith is all groove, mick elegance
@@flyingburritobro68 Mick has it all. That makes him so special.
he was far more perfect a live player than Page in concert
thanks for this; can't get enough of his guitar. Yes, too bad he left. However, as an 80 yo who has seen the Stones 8 times since 89, they have sure entertained me. They are still one of the best performing bands and just amazing that they can tour in their 80s. Who else can do that? Enjoy Mick Taylor and the Stones
He was just another Stone in the already Rolling Stones who are still the Fab Rolling Stones😎
Love a lot of things about Mick’s playing, not the least of which is his KILLER vibrato;wide&vicious!❤
spot on greatest of all time
Merveilleux !
Listen to his work on John Mayall’s Blues from Laurel Canyon. He elevates whoever he plays with.
Got my hand on my guitar listening to this hoping something will transfer to me
That’s how it works right😅
A special player. I love his work Stones wise studio and live! ALL GOOD!
Pour moi il est unique, le meilleur du monde
Saw MT 4 times at the Forum 69. 72x2 and 1973. Then 3 in 75 at Forum. After the shows were over I thought to my self the sound mixer did a lousy job. Because I never heard a lead guitar. At that time I wasn’t aware that Mick Taylor provided that sound.
This b maybe the greatest version I’ve ever heard and I’ve damn near all if em. Thankyou !
Wow truly brilliant 🎵A++class
if you liked this listen to Mick and Carla Olson on Too Hot For Snakes. Mick playing a live version of "Winter" is truly something to be experienced. Play it often and (yep) play it loud!
Sway on that album also jaw dropping from MT
Winter is a wildly underrated song. I will find that live version, thanks.
@@MrGrouchofan It is on UA-cam
@@nhwnhw02 Thanks very much
Totally brilliant ❤😂🎉
One of my favorites and I've heard them all over my years
In the Sympathy for the Devil of the Get yer ya's out album, the best performance in my opinion, the rivalry between Mick and Keith is obvious.
He was the best true lead player they ever had.
Yes that is how the Stones got on the map. Mick Taylor❤
I'm not sure if that's true but certainly he was too good for them.
Mick certainly made the greatest rock and roll band in the world better. Hard to imagine anyone could change the way the stones sounded. But there is a clear difference between sticky fingers an what came before. And you got to hand it to Richard's, he thrived with Taylor and did not appear to be threatened.
When i think of Sticky Fingers and Mick Taylor, two songs come to mind- the guitar solo in the latter half of Can't You Hear Me Knocking, and the cool swagger of Sway.
He's so beautiful. When I saw him I just couldn't stop staring at him, he wasn't interested in me though haha
Mick is a real vertouso
Brillantissime
With Taylor, the Stones entered the modern age and became a real rock'n roll band, then it fade away
Underrated in your mind but not in the annals of R&R legacy‼
