This video saved my butt from buying a new mower ($400). Sheared aluminum woodruff pin after hitting a stump. Timing was off. O’Riellys auto parts rents pullers for free! My mower sounds like it runs properly. Thank you so much!
Good job!! Great repair video!! One and a half thumbs up, I would give two but I cut half it off In a lawnmower accident!! Great safe video! Jk about the thumb you get 2!!
I’ve taken mine apart, the shear pins are intact. My mower turns over but won’t start, at the end of turning it over, it makes a clanking sound 😂 any idea what it could be?
Never put a steel key in an engine that's not designed for it. It is very dangerous. Most of the small engines use a zinc key which is softer than steel and design to shear under extreme pressure. Aside from hitting a solid object with your mower, some common causes of pin shear are, flywheel not torqued to spec., wrong pin installed, (check manuf. specs for part number}, pin improperly installed, (use a punch to lightly tap the pin downward to seat it), and last but not least, if you sprayed penetrating oil on the shaft to help remove the flywheel, be sure to clean both the shaft and flywheel before reinstalling. You don't want or need lubricant of any kind on the shaft. It's just that much more likely to shear the key.

Great video, no waxing eloquent, just content!
Thank you for this informative video. Now I know why my lawn mower runs rough after hitting a tree root.

Thanks!👍👍
The flywheel nut have to be very tight, or you may shear the pin, again, when trying to start it.
Thanks!
Nice repair
