  • Spoons, weedless or not, are a vital part of an angler’s spring tackle box.
Spoons, however, are a reaction bait.
Fish tend to strike spoons more aggressively than other soft plastic lures.
Because spoons are metal, fish know right away that they’ve bitten down on something other than a baitfish.
This is where FishBites came in.
FishBites come in strips that you can piece out to use and they even catch fish themselves if rigged just on a hook.
But, there is a secret hack to using FishBites with spoons to ensure the spoon retains its desired presentation.
    Check it out!

Thanks for the tip, I think you could of just cut the square a few MM longer and just cut it into 3 strips and Miminalize your fishbites waste.

I’ve used this with jigs mostly but will try it with spoon. I cut it diagonally in thin strips, that way you still get a streamlined piece instead of a block and there’s no waste. Thanks for sharing what works.

I've used small soft plastics for speck as a trailer and done quite well. Bet this works really good too. Seen people shorten the wire on the spoon and bend the hook up a little and rig it weedless with a rubber worm also. Thanks for the tip.🎣

Great idea! Even for any hard baits and spinner baits, to add some scent. Even lead head jigs!

Saltstrong needs to hit south FL. It would be nice to live on the Indian river lagoon or more north but we don’t lol. It’s a different fishery up there. Palm beach FL to Miami Fl area. Thanks guys

I live here in Miami and I've caught plenty of fish in Biscayne all the way down to the Keys with that Gold Spoon. So it doesn't matter what location you're at.

@@frankiev-tech4630 yeah it’s pretty easy to catch fish in the keys I used to guide out of papa Joe’s. I wanted to see if anyone in Palm Beach or Broward county do any videos or are successful in South FL besides the keys. Do any videos in Key Biscayne Frankie?

@@anthonymannarino3376 I don't need to show you videos to prove it works. I went to the Rickenbacker Causeway Bridge plenty of times in the past catching Spanish Macakerel and Blue Runners using it. There's plenty UA-cam videos that are pretty old that you can research that helps you understand how they work.

Anthony - I hear you. I lived in Boynton Beach for 10 years and moved to Indian River County last summer. The saltwater fishery is 10x up here. Tbh, your best bet down there is probably peacock bass and exotics unless you get a boat.

      @@frankiev-tech4630 ok lol.
There's no fish left in key biscane anyways. no reds or nice trout you need to go to the space coast or indian River to make videos on the east coast. I’m not arguing with you Frank lol. I just want anglers to admit that the inshore fishery sucks in Palm Beach and browerd County. comon, I'll take you out this afternoon on my skiff. Will catch some big snook my treat.
I appreciate what you guys do

I guess I'm missing something. Cutting the square this way to come up with is basically an oblong strip seems wasteful. Why not just cut 2 or 3 oblong strips from the square strip or from a slightly longer oblong strip

That is probably the most unknown, untried; researched ,application to spoon Lures. How much actually inpeads action, or should it be used at all. spoon Mfg, should state, " Can or cannot be tipped with bait or artificial, but Manufacturers lack Common Sense. Thanks for the Info. Over 50 yrs ago, half a crawler pinned to the rear hook of a ," LAZY IKE Lure", was a Walleye fishermans trick. Maby a skinny piece of that would do the same. Good Luck to all ,fishing this year, escape the madness of Woke and hit the Water, lol.
