- Welcome to my MCC Legendary Speedrun Guides! Today we're tackling "The Storm" from Halo 3 (Master Chief Collection).
My goal with this series is to help everyone complete every Halo game on Legendary difficulty using the latest speedrunning tips and tricks. If you have any questions or I forgot to explain something in the video, please ask in the comments and I'll do my best to answer!

I'm very good with grenades in Halo but the fact that you get so many perfectly placed grenades so frequently amazes me.
I'd rather see the "safe strats" for every mission.

After having Halo 3 since just after launch, I did not know until today there was a working ladder like CE. Thats what im taking away from this. Yeah nah, solid guide. You've helped a ton of us not just get achievements but I've found some speedrun strats work gloriously in matchmaking
The whole original trilogy has ladders, there's also ladders on Tsavo Highway and Sierra 117

I think doing the speedrun is what makes the level's framerate drop. Whenever I played Halo 3 normally, the framerate was perfect but whenever I did a speedrun of the levels, it tended to drop the framerate. I think it might have something to do with going through the level so fast that it isn't used to loading so quickly.

Eli, you can take a mongoose in the area towards the end. It's similar to the way the ghost works in the Covenant.
Lol I spent 30 minutes trying that jump to glitch out of the map, didn't listen far enough to figure out I had to crouch jump.
Currently on a binge watch re-run in 2021!

It looks like the save and quit feature doesn’t work anymore it would seem. This feature now tracks your time and death count; presumably for leaderboard legitimacy.
Really? Of all the things they could do, they changed that -_-
Luckily I wasn't trying to speed run, just beat it on Legendary because my rocket marines were all still alive and kept shooting the side of the scarab and killing me.

For the 7:38 jump, try switching to a button layout that makes crouch the B button. 99% of the time it wont register clicking left stick. Sat there for half an hour trying with only 1 success, switched crouch to B and havent messed it up since
TheFunnyHaloGai Switching crouch to B worked the second time for me. Thanks! I sat there trying this for 15 minutes. Granted, my time was still counting but I wanted to nail that off-map excursion.

I'm finding that crouch jump at the end really tough, any tips?
Wait until you drop slightly THEN jump. Crouch at the height of your jump about 0.5 seconds after jumping. It's a really unique jump, but once you get the feel for it, you can pull it off very consistently.

I remember how I used that trick in the end to beat the Storm, when I played it for the first time on Legendary.

I forgot the grav lift and grenade jumped from the same place a little later to get on the scarab hehe
took forever to get the jump at 7:40 right, but I think I can manage now

The only problem Im having while speedrunning the 4th mission is that the anti air cannon wont open its light. Am I missing something?
Yes. You need to hit the load zone right before getting back in bounds. It is right by the fence near the actual area. Otherwise, just clear out the enemies and use a double plasma pistol shot from far away.
Imma be honest, my left joystick click is broke, and I can't always crouch.
A question that I would like to ask? Is time scores and Kill scores different for making high scores? Why I asked is because I have been doing a Kill score for my own Time Attack and I ended up with low scores so I was wondering about that.
My problem with this mission is the section right before the hunters. There are so many brutes and I like to have 4 rockets left to kill the hunters. Any tips?

Towards the end do u jump then crouch or crouch and jump?
Could anyone help me with how to get the checkpoint boxes above the competitive time box?
I couldn't get the damn thing to open and it put me in a position that took numerous tries, I had the group before from behind and the group in front of me, I don't know how I did it but I got through

Missile pod didn't spawn up for me lol
two charged plasma pistols it instant kill for the cannon core
I lost it on this mission, absolutely hate speedrunning it. Feels way more RNG than tsavo at certain points.

There is no missile pod when I do this. There isn't even the turret stand where it used to be.
It's RNG. Eli's totally wrong on this mission in particular, I find it's heavily dependant on RNG. The missile pod has a decent chance of spawning but sometimes just doesn't, and later on the brute section is 100% dependant on RNG and how many rockets you had left over from the Scarab section.
i actually didnt realize how easy it is to get high on the leaderboards. i was just going for par time and got 9th fastest time on halo 4 composer GT: IBTG
I do not think that the score multiplys for Double Kills or Triple Kills I have made it to Killionare a few times and I watched my score on the right side of the screen and the score just seems to be the same so I do not think you were unlucky for missing the Over Kill on the two Ghosts.
I like the speedy ones better
Trying the end part where you crouch jump over the fence but on the way to the AA gun at the end I don't get that checkpoint and the gun core doesn't expose itself. Can anyone confirm if this is still possible or if it got patched?
Same thing here. But you gotta follow his path exactly along that fence till you get loading done and checkpoint. I didn’t do that before and that’s why didn’t get the checkpoint.
That jump pissed me off so much

He doesn't tell you but you see him go out of the way to pick it up at 3:16

It's not a 100% spawn rate, it's probably around 80%.
Where do you get the gravy lift

The viewer was wrong, the holding up bit for that little chunk with the ghost doesn't work. Redid that part like 50 times now and every single time the grunt jumping to the side drags my reticule and makes me slam into the fucking wall.
How do you throw down the gravity lift?

Random Number generator it is how the random number of enemies that spawn I THINK

Sgt Johnson It's basically a digital roll of the dice that decides if a certain event will happen, like whether a npc fires his gun, or whether something spawns in a certain area.
I thought it was Run 'N Gun but I then realized that it made no sense whenever he talked about it lol.
I think it means the damage the enemies hit is random.

useless tutorial, doesnt mention anything about gravlifts and explains about half of the run.
It's not useless just because you didn't watch closely enough. I just got my par time thanks to this video and would never have come close without it. It explains it decently, but I agree certain points (like the gravlift and later on the jumps at the hammer brute section) should have been mentioned ahead of time
