Love the Richie Ashburn and the Robin Roberts! Some of the prices shock me how reasonable they are for being from such a popular set. The Bob Feller is such a great looking card, congrats on all those additions!
yeah, thats why i keep sharing those prices, i keep hearing collectors say the 52s are expensive, and they can be. depending on grade/condition. however if you want just a nice copy of the card, theyre very reasonable.
Mikey, You passed me up! I got 4 in and am up to 208 with 5 more on the way. All from eBay averaging just under $12 per. I still need Yogi, Bob Leman and Early Wynn as far as stars. The rest to 310 are commons. Congratulations on 225! You're actually way ahead of me, because I don't yet have any high numbers, including Mickey! Keep at it!
nice were about the same then, i have 5 more coming in as well. kityoungcards and battersbox on ebay has some nice 52s in the ($5-10) Range. be patient with the bob lemon, you can find a nice copy for $20 super cheap! the early wynn im having trouble finding at a decent price right now. the only high number i have is mickey lol.. but that will change some time next year i think
Good luck to you on completing the run. Came across 16 1952 high series cards (no one too special, best being Bobby Tompson) while cleaning out my hoarder uncle's house after his passing last year. I still remember him telling me that he misplaced a Mantle card when I was a kid, and finding those high series cards within the first 15 minutes of going through his house, I was trying to turn up everything the 3 days I was there. Never found a Mantle, don't know if it existed, don't know if it was a 52, don't know if another relative had already tossed it. Lost to history, but at least I saved the others.
wow what a story, even finding a 52 bobby thomson is a good find let alone all those high numbers, although the house has been picked thru already im sure, i hope its not one of those stories you find on tv with remodeling and finding old baseball cards hidden. either way, thanks for sharing!
Mikey, this is one of the best UA-cam videos I have seen in a while! Oh the glorious 1952 Topps set! Congrats on your fantastic progress, my 1952 Topps Bob Feller clubby! 😊
Al Rosen missed winning the Triple Crown by just a single hit. Love seeing these 1952 progress videos. I’m at 252/407 on my beater condition set and am absolutely certain you will pass me this year.
the 1952 topps cards even in a beater condition look amazing! the first time i ever tried doing the 52 set many, many years ago i did a low grade version and something about those cards looking used and abused was awesome! kuddos dude!
Keep on truckin' with the '52 set! You're like the only guy that seems to feature them. I've got a nice amount of the low numbers and only one high number, the Al Benton card. I got that one because he is the only pitcher to pitch to Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle. There are some really beautiful and striking high number cards. One of these days!
ohhh totally forgot about al benton! that makes for a fun story video. im so use to the low number 52 cards, i forget whos on the high numbers side. like George "SHOTGUN" shubba lol. im surprised more collectors dont collect the 52 set, but thats okay. they got love between us both!
great stuff! love seeing these vintage sets. i think i think if i really dive into a vintage set i'll do the 56'topps. perhaps i will do it once i finish my pirate team sets from the 50's and 60's! looking forward to the next one buddy!
the 1956 topps set is very easy, no major rookie cards. hardest card is perhaps the mantle. but should be an ease! if you ever decide to start that set, do share the progress!
Very Affordable... Mantle, Mays, Jackie... I will still stay away from this set and be happy with my 1952 Bowman set. They do look GREAT! If I can find some cheap, I will pick them up and just see what happens.
well, you make a good point lol.. however the low number series is very affordable minus the mays (semi high number) its the high numbers that are killer diller! you can come across some of the el benchos on the cheap!
Always enjoy the 52’s. I think I’m going to have to start on this set I have a decent fat stack of these already but have never taken the plunge to put the set together. Pricey for sure but I like your strategy. Congrats on getting closer. Look so good in the binder. Thanks for sharing Mikey. 🔥 🔥 🔥
you should really consider it, i thought the same at first until i went for it, now im stuck loving the 52s in all shapes and sizes, and its not as pricey as people think, obviously the low number series set of course.
One of the players you showed was Ferris Fain. Knee injuries cut short a decent career. .424 lifetime OBP. Arrested in 1988 for a 400 plant pot growing operation. Did 18 months in prison.
Nice fat stack Mikey..😍😮 Love the Richie Ashburn that green really pop's..🤗 That Al Brazle card is funny T-Rex he's got a crooked neck..😜 Take care bro..👍❤🔥👊
haha that cards always made me laugh! ohh btw i shipped out your package yesterday, should recieve it weds or thurs! its been raining here so there may be a delay.
Good luck on the 52 Topps set man... way out of my league! Hope you find some keeper cards in the box I send.
Lol thanks my dude, 2nd time trying to build this on youtube! Appreciate your business and cards! They will go to a great home 🍻
How fun! I don’t care what anyone says- the ‘52 Topps is the most iconic post-war set Good collecting 👍❤️
i think people get discourage on the hype and price of them that they stay away. best set out there hands down!
Love the Richie Ashburn and the Robin Roberts! Some of the prices shock me how reasonable they are for being from such a popular set. The Bob Feller is such a great looking card, congrats on all those additions!
