My grandfather was #59, Lloyd Moore! So cool to actually be able to see him race.
J. Andersen I’ve seen the videos on you tube, AWESOME videos. I was happy to see him runnin TOP 5 HERE, not an easy task in such a loaded field
You wanted to see how your grandfather used to race
@@MrChristopherHaas we used to love hearing the stories of his racing days. He gave it all up to raise 6 girls. His sacrifice for family has influenced generations!
@Ethan Schmid yes. One of my favorite stories was how was how he borrowed Busink's wife's brand new car to drive in a race and crashed it. Busink was his racing buddy.
@@j.andersen2150 so she willingly let him? Was she mad afterwards? Was it fixable? Lol
Love these old races they make a 100mph sound so fast but it was back then ✌👍
I'm not a Nascar fan but I love watching these old races.
I love watching these. Really goes to show how far Motorsports have come. I would’ve loved to have grown up in the 50s, 60s, or even the 70s.
DNG Gone first in the right direction then the wrong direction lol.
Same
Mama Flock, absolutely priceless.
"Hey, there's the car with the hood up!" Love the commentary
I think it be cool if NASCAR could do something like this for a throwback or something.
It would be great to see, but there’s too much liability with these old cars for today’s multi-million dollar drivers. Dale Earnhardt’s death sealed any chance of any NASCAR driver at that level driving a car not equipped with every single safety system and device that is standard in a Gen 8 2022 NASCAR stock car.
@@joe6096 I think he meant the multi-surface track
Doc Hudson won this one
Yep
Hudson kicked ass in this season
BRING THIS RACE BACK.
Thank goodness you uploaded this. I've wanted to see the full race since the Joie Ray flip clip!
In the early fifty's the Hudson hornet was hard to beat, because of there low center of gravity. But what amazes me is how does a flat head strait six in the Hudson beat an oldsmobile with an ohv v 8
The Hornet was still tough in the mid 60s I used to race against them on the Quarter mile dirt track in Rock Hill SC
The Hudson had a 6. But it was a BIG 6. 308 c.i. as I recall. Twin carbs
Hot cam.
For those who think 6s don't go I remind you of the BMW 6s
Or the Chrysler slant 6 hyperpaks of the 60s.
@@josephfreeman3816 Plus the 7X valves, exhaust, and valves did wonders too, that Hudson 6 was something else.
@@willgeary6086 The 308 Twin H Power 7x spec motors made about 220 HP. They were fast cars. We had a 1954 Hornet in the 1970s. Loved that car.
My dad was always a Hudson man.
10:42 "This is a battle royale"
The older race drivers from 1949--2000 never die they aré racing in the memories of Nascar race cars on all speedway what they aré racing ❤❤I love race cars & I am an race cars fanof Nascar race cars 😊😊😊
Doc Hudson: Hot Snot! I was something in that race, wasn't it Kid?
I wish today's cars were truly stock cars, with safety built in of course. No engine mods, stock, road legal tires and cars. The speeds wouldn't be 200 mph, but I think the racing would be awesome.
They should create a new "strictly stock" or "grand national" class, with actual camaros, mustangs, and camrys, it would be amazing.
8:45 "The Big One" at Daytona, 1952 style.
Great history coverage find. I just wonder how many ?? 50% or 75%?? All them?? Of cars was only a weekend before this was running full loads of mason jars. Wide open down on the back roads #9 GA or back roads of NC and or VA. To next biggest city Around 9 pm to 4 am. To pay for there own little vacation weekend of fun & sun on beach for this weekend race?? I bet look closely in crowd. There is the police again!!! still looking for that blame car!!! There it is. There that manic!! There little old county issue stock 6 cyl. Police Car could not catch.
Not sure.
these car were supposed to b stock but l think the shiners cars were often modified.
Lots of fun to watch though ;)
I have a 1953 Buick special that was a shine car for twenty years in the north georgia southeast tennessee area.
@eschneider8799 I have a 53 Buickspecial. It was a shine car. It has the truck crank shaft and the truck cylinders inside its straight 8
They do something at this race which I wish NASCAR would do it all the races. Standing start
Safety measures: Helmet, cigarette.
I was scanning the crowd to see if I could find us. My father took us from Cleveland down to Daytona when I was 4, which would have been 1952 or 1953. He raced locally at Sportsman's Park in Ohio.
Back in the day before Corporate got hold of it. Any average Joe could buy a car fix it up and race.
These guys literally went to their local Chevy, Ford, and Chrysler dealers, bought whatever car on the lot they wanted, took it home, souped it up in their garage, got a few sponsors to put their stickers on the car, and drove them to the race track. Raced, then drove the car home and took it to work Monday.
Miss them good ol' days. You know what they said, "Die on Sunday, funeral on Monday". Jokes aside it's some beautiful racing we're seeing in these videos but when corporate got hold of it, safety started coming into play too. Unfortunately we had to lose all these drivers up until Dale so that something really important would be done, but the list of NASCAR drivers dying on track in the 50s and 60s is so enormous I don't even want to think about it.
@@joe6096 But if you really wanted to win you'd by a Hudson.
WOW ! the racing in the 50's is much more interesting and entertaining than modern day. Cool that the race is fluid and shortened due to the tide coming in...that is priceless. I would love to go see races like this...sure would !
0:01 It's Doc Hudson!
Interesting Races those 50’s folk did, and I’m the 1000th like of this video
Back then, get'n er up to 100 was a major event.
I like these classic races, but I was thinking of filming the same race, with each particle but in color, and if you do that I will like it!
6:24 reach up there and pull those belts tight one more time
Imagine hitting that turn at 60 miles per hour.... me in my Volvos doing that without any drama. Cars really have advanced
The 59 and the 92 my fav
I see a Packard!
15:56 the driver are... smoking ??? 🤣🤣🤣
Welcome to the 50s
My dad was in the crowd!
Legendary Mike Klapak of Warren, Ohio!
Teague is my hero
6:25 Race Start
did anyone crashed into the crowd in these races?
Looks so fun
It would've been cool if they kept the beach races, as well as the Daytona Speedway. The beach races are more entertaining to me
There they go! A bomb starts the race!
It's tough going with a missing wheel. 🤣😂
The guy that does the interview HI U THE GUY THAT OWNS THIS CAR ?? WHATS YOUR NAME yep hard HITTING!!!😅😅😅
I would like to use this in a video project. Could you help me locate the source or getting permission to use? Thank you
Smokey Purser Was Having A Suffered Arm
Whats the source of this video?
he says his arm hurts! no wonder! it's broken!
What would happen if they did it today
22:20 Kevin Costner ??????????
6:20
Did these cars run with mufflers attached?
No.
Mufflers in the 50s?
