Yeah, I think some parents (in general, regardless of race) can ease up on the less than perfection thing though. Not that I have anyone Malaysian or Asian in my family (other than a cousin from the Philippines who was adopted), but I remember going home with a notice of excellence ("Good Guy Award" or something like that), and being asked why only two of the three good things were checked off. I didn't even know I was going to _get it in the first place,_ or what the things with check boxes even were until I received it. It's important to see more of what the child does right, than what the child does wrong.
My mom is asian and my dad is Austrian/white, they met in American College and I have lived in the US my whole life, and what happened to me isn’t either of these. If I spilled something they would double-team on me with lectures and clean it up themselves while making me feel as guilty as possible. I guess that was happens when they agree on a parenting style 💀
I loved the sleep scene. Both the sides has pros. Putting them to sleep individually reduces the pressure of mom and also makes the son independent. Also sleeping along with them throughout their childhood creates a good parent child bonding and they feel safe and secure 👍🏻 I really loved the way it was portrayed
The kiss that scene goodbye bit hahaha. Im from a Filipino family and Im telling you, when I was a kid, everytime there is an adult theme scene in the movies we watch, my parents would say, "close your eyes, close your eyes"
I have two siblings and when we were young, we used to close our eyes whenever it came to an romantic scene or smth like that 😂. And we looked each other to know nobody was looking at the movie 🍿😂. Btw still I skip such kinda scene whenever I watch. And appreciate it all the time

Well, I thought I was Cuban, but perhaps I’m Indian, because we do all those things the same way! We also have trouble relating to the way Americans raise children, and we use Vick’s for everything!🤣 Thanks for the great video, your children are so precious-beautiful boys!🤗🥰
Cubans are Americans. Mexicans are Americans. USA people are Americans. Etc. because American refers to the continent of America and those who live in it. The indigenous Americans are the people native to North America including Mexico, south Central America. I am 2nd generation North American and I don’t act this way. In fact my daughter just spilt water on the table and I gave her the towel to clean it up. She’s 6. I think it’s more of a cultural thing rather than a nationality thing.
I think it’s a Hispanic thing also. Sleepovers were a No! And I don’t allow my children go to sleepovers. The spilling on the sofa….mistakes don’t happen lol
i am Sri lankan this is 1000% true story. now i am 22 but my parents still treat like a small kid. however i love them because they are my world and they sacrifice their beautiful young life for us
This is so funny and so true. I'm American and my husband is Chinese. The only one that didn't seem to fit was I was always telling them to be careful when playing. The Chinese kids seemed to have more of a devil-may-care kind of play attitude.
As a Indian kid growing up in Malaysia I can relate to this 100% . The kissing scene got me 😅 Love this and reminds me of all my growing up days and how I am too with my son . ❤
I remember i made a total 100% one time, told my parents very proudly expecting some sort of reward, they just said: "ok, its your responsability, you are supposed to make that everytime" They didnt even said congratulations, my expression was: ☠️
So true. I am a Black American woman and I was always told by my parents to push for 100% especially since I was taught I was at a disadvantage due to some prejudices. I have since learned to shoot for the highest level of excellence in all I do. However, to have a balance so if I don't make my goal to still be proud of the effort, readjust and try again. Perfection is demonic and causes anxiety and depression. Try to have a spirit of excellence, you will feel better in the end. Excellence is a forgiving journey, but perfection is unforgiving and impossible to achieve. Be wise.❤ I love this video though. Hilarious! 😂❤😊Beautiful family!

It’s not- it encourages mediocrity. There has to be a healthy mix of the two. Set high standards but obviously if your child gets a 97 you praise them- not scold them for not getting a hundred.
Boom Conclusion: American way of parenting is BETTER than Japanese Implication: America should produce better children than Japan (as a whole) If I take your opinion granted
That’s hilarious. My husband is Filipino. He would not have done sleep overs at his friends’ houses. His parents were afraid the kids would break something if they even played at someone else’s house. I was the one always excited with the kids’ accomplishments. I think the most excited I’ve seen him is say, “Very good.” He has an American accent but whenever he speaks to a foreigner with a strong accent, regardless of country, he starts speaking in broken English. I have no idea why. It’s a habit. We’ve been married 46 years and the kids have turned out reasonably well adjusted. The oldest boy does standup.
Eyyyy not completely messing up is better than most parents! 🙌 Better than mine 😂 If i ever have kids my main goal will be for them to not need therapy because of something i did lol
Hi, I am Hungarian and some situations are the same in our country: "eaten yet" (your parents think you are starving all day long 😂), sweet dreams, safety and vet hair paranoia and cutted ONIONS under the bed. It was funny and interesting, thank you.
I agree with this.. when both perspectives meet their common grounds, the kids will be much more disciplined & have more mature thoughts about everything..

I scored exactly 97% in my 10th class board exams, my parents were happy but just to tease me they said this exactly - " where did you lose rest of the 3 %? " 😂😂
I am a 36 years old man. When I was young my Mom was always FOR having friends over and sleepovers. She would make things to eat and drink. She recently told me that one of the reasons she was so receptive to the idea is to see the types of friends I had. Your child might be influenced in a very bad way by bad friends especially in the early development stages. You as a parent have very limited exposure to your child's friends. I did have a good friends around me but I appreciate my mom looking out for me. (As I was a boy with boy friends mostly my dad also participated, told jokes etc and I am sure he checked my friends as well)
Classmate sleepovers are usually not a thing of culture on southeast asian countries, but I do agree of the advantages, parents can see acquainted and be familiarized with the friends and classmates their children are regularly mingling around.
@@rdu239 I didn’t have many sleepovers as most people in my country live in flats and you only have 1 bath. It is not like with houses in the US that are usually bigger. So you could get maybe 1-2 friends max to sleep over in my country. However - watching movies, playing console games etc. It is more than enough time for mom or dad to get a feeling and a vibe check of your friends. Also my parents did not over extend their presence and they were not outwardly noisy so neither me or my friends felt bad. I will definitely be using this parenting advice if I, God willing , become a parent.
As an American this is weird for me to hear because I basically spent every weekend over at a friend's house or with a friend at mine during high school.
Almost every weekend my friends would come stay at my house, and my mom became like a second mom to them. She always tells me how much fun she had when we were all there, and she loved that she could be 100% sure we were fed, comfortable and safe.
But while playing, you shouldn't get overprotective and let them learn, teaching them to rise after falling and being strong rather than overprotecting them, letting them face the challenges and solve them us an important part of life and you shouldn't rob them of that, and honestly most Asians aren't overprotective,it's mainly Americans😂

Be wise.❤

This all says how much protection love care and this sweet upbringing Asians have towards their childrens ❤️
