Man, I wish I would have watched this sooner! I have the red WPL C24 and I’ve don’t all metal upgrades on it so the only plastic left is the body. I have those same solid metal links as well but I went with the metal version of the original axles. All that extra weight was too much for the stock 180 motor and it would bog down in the grass and the motor would get hot after about 10 minutes. I ordered the 260 and the 370 motors and the 370 came in first. Well I was too impatient and installed a single speed 370 with metal gearbox onto my truck. It lasted all of 30 seconds before it ruined my stock WPL circuit board. Next paycheck I’m going to buy a new transmitter and receiver and ESC. After that, the last upgrade I can do would be LiPo batteries
Thanks and thanks for sharing im sure it will help somebody. The thing with all the WPL Transmissions they all use a tiny brass motor pinion. Get the mn78 Transmission and mn78 Transmission skid plate and you can have a steel motor pinion. Then you can give it brushless power. All the brush motors 180 to 370 are about the same speed and power.
@@ChiefRickyRC Thank you and Happy New Year to you! I fried the board in mine last night. I put a battery that was way to big for it in it and as soon as I hit switch it popped. The headlights still work but that’s it Lol! I think that had something to do with my New Year’s festivities bout you live and you learn! 👍🏻👍🏻
Dude that’s cool! I just got into it about a month ago and I got the adjustable 4 link and I have had a time with it. I love how this one you have sets 👍🏻👍🏻
Your trucks are always the sickest! Have you tried mounting the rear link to the outside of the frame? Maybe it would help with the shift and the pivot ball?
Thank you brotha! Yup when installing it ill only attach this way, because the baseseat mounts on the axles. It actually twists really nice its just the springs. I did the 979b spring swap and its better, but these shocks dont have any travel. I found sweet 1/18 blue HBX oil shocks im about to show on the MN78 bro they are perfect for these MN and WPL upgraded metal crawlers
Ok, somehow mine turned out about almost half an inch taller than this one. I think that I have the MN 1/12 scale portal axles and my shocks are laying down at like a 45 degree angle. Now my drive shafts are too short. Do they make longer ones?
Mine is on wider MN Portals as well. You just need MN pullrod baseseats and the rest WPL. It should all fit. You need the CVD driveshafts maybe. They make 2 styles driveshafts. Get the CVD version, they slide on drive pinion yokes fully
I think that I found the axle trusses for just the D series, or MN 90s or whatever they're called. They come with the bracket for the differential mount for the steering servo which is a plus. I posted a little photo of my project on the community portion of my UA-cam channel in case you get bored. I found a video of the only C24 that I've found taller than mine and am trying to figure out his extra long drive shafts. If not, I will have to design my own. Unfortunately, I am going to have to put all of this fun on the back burner because I'm moving to my new apartment in the next week or two and need to pick up my work table and pack all of the computers and stereos and a ton of other things. Wooohooo! Shake and Bake!
@@ChiefRickyRC Wow! I have no idea what pullrod base seats are and I've been a mechanic my whole life. I think that I already have the CV type drive shafts and they seem to be the same length as the metal shafts that came with my metal suspension. I'm gonna start shopping in the MN 99 section more often, lol S & B!
@@ChiefRickyRC Well, Chief, I've got more problems. I guess that I'm to tall. I've got a huge body roll problem. I need swaybars bad, lol Shake-N-Bake!
I bought a metal oscillator kit for my WPL but c I bought a MN kit of metal oscillators for my wpl, I bought it wrong, it should be c24 and not Mn, can you tell me if it will work?!
@yannhaias sorry I was distracted. So you can, but it will make wheelbase longer. Im curious how it would look it could be a sweet mod making your wpl have more suspension travel and better climbing. So your chassis mount servo arm and driveshafts lengths may be a issue where you simple need to adjust steering links, or a axle mount servo baseseat. A axle mount servo will greatly improve handling eliminating bump steer. If WPL CVD metal driveshafts don't reach, you can get longer MN driveshafts. Lastly the shocks, and I think some 1/18 metal oil shocks with plastic ends. Plastic ends are easier to work with the pivots balls can be removed, or replaced with your choice whatever fits best. Full metal shocks are great when you know for sure the pivot balls work. I mean any WPL aftermarket shocks will help, but the HBX actually have oil damping. You can adjust how stiff by the level and thickness of oil, if they come too stiff. You can spin spring adjuster more firm, or looser, or off if you need the spring rate plush. Servo, Driveshafts, and Shocks.
Got this portal axle too , wheels are slightly flopy on flat terain, that cause some slight turn when go forward or reverse , is this normal for portal axle to have wheels play like tht?

i bought the same 370 motor for my cousin and it worked well and still does(1year)
@Tinvan_real they do well not being overvolted and kept out of water

I would love to have a build sheet on this. I honestly love everything about it!
Check theres build videos and it was a 19mph brush 370 once too. Theres interesting stuff in all the WPL comments as well lots info shared
Thank you very much! Happy New Year

Are the MN links the same length as the WPL links?
No, MN are longer. Im using solid links special to WPL 1/16 that are shorter, than MN. On the sellers page you can select for a MN, or WPL
All WPL to the Links , then MN base seat and MN axles.
Awesome truck and project! 😊 👌
Thank you
Liked and subscribed 👍
@KPtain_RC thanks again! More WPL and MN builds and better action on the way

Hello .how did you mount the portal rear axle?. My wheels go opposite direction after mounting.plz help
Motor shaft and Driveshafts should turn counter clockwise for forward

Is brushless? I think change motor wires to change direction
I am using 2speed metal gearbox

So mn axels are the way to go cheers ricky 👍🏻
It seems the only difference is MN are longer wider and same gears depending on material brass, steel, or hardend steel. Cheers Al
