somewhat poetic that shortening algorithm to just algo evokes a reading for spanish speakers where you read the word as meaning something undetermined or abstract (like the mysterious force of the algorithm) - i.e. literally something. the word comes from the latin word aliquod which is literally “una cosa no determinada, un acusativo neutro de los pronombres latines” not realizing algo was referring to the algorithm at first gave me a weird impulse to look into the etymology of algorithm to see if it had latin influence like a shit ton of other english words, but its surprisingly more closely derivative of middle english. and it was kind of interesting. idk. stay in school
