    This video popped into my head over breakfast and mimics my story.
    I went through so many rolands and korgs but landed on the e-mu line.
    The sound blends so well with samples. Been lusting for a command station for years! Thanks for sharing - good luck

    A lot of the Roland JV, XV stuff was used a lot in the 90s and early 2000s R&B as well. You can hear Roland sounds on just about every R&B hit record esp the 90s. Rodney Jerkins used a ton of Roland Sound modules along with his Trinity back then. I just added the Roland Integra-7 to my collection. I still got the Motif ES 6 keyboard but I'm starting to move away from keyboards and replacing them with rack modules now that I sequence everything in the DAW these days. Its just better integration and save a lot of space without the need a keyboards stack on top of each other. So I ordered another Motif ES the rack version. I have the Fantom XR as well.

    I'm so glad I found this channel. Seems like this is what I needed to watch. I came up studying DeVante from Jodeci and all I do is smooth r&b. I'm soooooo burnt out on using logic sounds. I recently bought a Roland juno ds keyboard and it's funny because I make better tracks with those keyboard sounds than I do in Logic. I'm about to search this mod right now online. Thanks brotha Smith!!!!

    I wish EMU never sold to Creative.. They made the best samples and romplers. I still have my Proteus 2000, E-Synth and 4XT. Great video by the way.

      True enough, I haven't worked much with Ensoniq but I know they made quality gear! One of these days I will get an ASR10 or Mirage

      Roland was the stable sound of 90s R&B esp the the JV-2080. That model was used on everything from Dru Hill, Destiny's Child, Brandy and Monica the boy is mine, to Whitney Houston... The Emu modules wasn't used that much on R&B records, mostly hip hop esp the Mo Phatt, Planet Phatt. Nelly County Grammer album is full of Mo Phatt sounds.

    I gave up making beats years ago. I been getting that itch lately. I still have my proteus 2000 and my motif racks. I used this with Cubase like 8 years ago. I'm rusty as he'll but I think I'm about to dust them off. Get FL for my old laptop and see if I still got it. These beats I hear on the radio are so simple im like I can compete with that. Glad I came across this video.

    I remember I had a Proteus, not the 2000, just the original, when I was a child, so I got really used to the sounds on it. Listening back to some 90s R&B hits like "Bump N' Grind," I hear those sounds all the time. The acoustic guitar and the drums are the most recognizable.

    Can u make a video of going thru some of the sounds on this thing?? And show that worm sound you were talking about?? I’m a upcoming producer trying to really bring back that 2000’s-90’s vibe to hip and rnb and I’m only 21 so I really wanna Change the way music producers approach beats after hearing my production

      Morrisman Smith have u try the digital sound factory vst ? I think they are about the same - the filters quality and the midi grooves from the rack module. They got the rights of all the Emu sound sets. I will go as far to say that the vst are better because of the improvement of the audio converters of this era, plus the effects in kontak keep getting better on every release and no limits on the voices, from 128 to what ever your computer can handle. Give them a try my brother. ✌️

    The demise of both E-mu and Ensoniq is kind of sad. They both had great pieces of gear. Maybe one day they’ll resurface in software form (E-mu kind of has...)?

    Hello I have a Proteus 2000 sound module, that developed a recent problem, I assigned a different sound to each of the 16A channels save and enter them on the machine, but after powering up again, all the assigned sounds seems to dissapear and the machine reverts to a standard sound setup and not the one I want, basically its not accepting my choice of sounds, please can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong ???????

    • @jeshum66
      @jeshum66 5 років тому +1

      TheYoskeland, you need a usb to midi converter, like www.hobbytronics.co.uk/usb-midi-converter. Keyboard midi out to Proteus 2000 midi in, midi out from the Proteus to midi in on the converter, usb from the converter to your sound card. (Or buy an Arturia Keystep keyboard, it's like a swiss army knife for synth connecting.)

      @Ian Bonner yes! You can swap roms thru the whole P2K series!

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 Рік тому +1

      All the hardware is the same. They have removal ROM cards. The stock sounds are nothing more than expansion cards that comes pre-installed in all the Proteus modules. So yes you can pull the Pure Mo Phatt card and install it in the Proteus 2000. The Mo-Phatt is nothing more than a Proteus 1000 that's limited to 2 expansion slots opposed to 4 in the 2000.
