How would you send separate MIDI Channels to the four separate OUTPUTS at the back of the unit? For Example: Output 1: MIDI Chn 10 ~ DRUMs Output 2: MIDI Chn 2 ~ BASS Output 3: MIDI Chn 3 ~ PIANO Output 4: MIDI Chn 4 ~ STRINGS Love your Video
Hi @josephbusuttil3030 You could do this by editing the presets, and saving the multisetup for this specific use. So, for example, select the C10A location and choose your drum preset. Edit the preset MIX OUTPUT setting to show channel 10A: Send3->sub2 You can use either Send2 or Send3. Decide whether to use Left or Right channel for this preset. Under the AMPLIFIER setting, Pan the layers to hard Left or Right (bear in mind that any Patchcords which affect Panning will cause bleed through to the other channel). Remember to save the preset (maybe with a new name) after editing. Do this same process for the other three. Save the MULTISETUP. This ensures that the channel designations stay the same. You could also change each channel's pan setting on the CH PANS page in the MULTI menu. Let me know how you get on !
Amazing! It is wonderful to transpose the key of an audition riff, but can you change the tempo of an audition riff as well? IE. piano sound in proteus 2000 once you select audition, how do you change the tempo of that riff? Great job! Best, Justin
Hi Justin, Thank you for your kind words, and for taking the time to comment 🙂 There seems to be a number of ways to 'interact' with a riff, even though a riff cannot be edited. The riff plays at the 'current tempo' - which means that if the master tempo is changed, the riff tempo will change. The master tempo can be set by an external MIDI clock source. Increasing and decreasing tempo is possible via MIDI control. If a riff is recorded via MIDI into a sequencer, the tempo could be changed. The riff could be manually entered into the arp using software, and then the arp parameters could be used. Have you checked the firmware version on the Proteus 2000? Version 2.26 is the latest I think? Some of the features introduced by the last update are not in the Proteus 2000 manual. However, if you read through the relevant info in the Emu Command Station manual, most of the info is relevant to the Proteus 2000 - except the sequencer stuff. There is some limited info in the Proteus 2000 manual about using the tempo controller function copied below - "Tempo Controller This function allows a MIDI controller to change the Master Tempo. The Global Tempo is used for the clock divisor PatchCords, tempo-based envelopes and synced LFOs. You can assign any controller number from 0-31, mono key pressure, or the pitch wheel to change the Global Tempo. A different controller can be used to change the tempo up or down. The Pitch Wheel can be assigned to both the up and down parameters to vary the tempo up and down from a single controller. If any other controller is assigned to both the up and down parameters, Proteus 2000 redefines the center of the controller’s range as zero. MIDI Controller values are added to the Base Tempo with an offset range of ±64. When the controller is set to “off” the tempo returns to its original setting. This control has no effect when using an external clock." 👍
To update the Proteus 2000 to the latest firmware version, I would recommend using the online updater by Ray Bellis - www.emu.tools You would need a good quality USB to MIDI cable. I use a Yamaha UX16 cable, but there are others 🙂

@@1heUndertaker Thank you! I got a Proteus 2000 in the late 2000’s, and then life changes made me put all of my equipment away for more than 10 years. This year I got it out again and decided I’d like to learn about what I have!
Fantastic series - thank you. I never got that deep into mine, but you've inspired me to start it up again!
Great to hear that you are going to take another look Arron 😀

Thanks for this look into the Proteus
You are welcome sir! Thank you for taking the time to let me know, much appreciated!
Excellent video! You make a great instructor.
Thank you @Graphene, for your kind words 😊
Glad you liked it.
