I was working this out ..and it struck me I have owned every model of Astra up till the Astra J ( I have an 08 sportshatch Astra H at the mo) .. also had a green N reg Corsa exactly like that one ..fab car..used it for pizza del ..never missed a beat.
I used to have an astra G, it was a lovely motor!
My favourite 90s car was a saab 99 turbo it was so ahead of its time and went on to do over 175 thousands miles..

I bought an old mk3 cav for 200 quid about 15 years ago as a run around. It was brilliant. Had to drive 100 miles to collect it. A pully for the alternator broke on the way home and we had to steal 4 batteries from my friends work on the way home so we didn't run out of electricity. It looked like a piece of crap, but fixed the pully and it never missed a beat after that.
Sounds like good memories mate, I was given a cavalier years ago, and abused it for a good couple of years the corrosion got too much eventually, but the engine was bullet proof ! I'd love that car back now 👍
My friend, I feel your pain when you realise that the project car is beyond repair. I've bought a couple of cars and they would cost more to repair than they are worth or the amount of time would mean that you will be working on it for years. I have meny cars from the 90's but I always liked the Cavalier GSi 16V, the BMW M5, Carlton 3.0 24V and the Jaguar XJ12 6.0. All of them great fun cars and I wish I could have them again. Keep up the great videos and well done.

For my favorite 90s car has to be the Astra GTE in fade away red and I quite liked the Cavalier SRI . My other fancy was the Ford Escort RS with the picnic table spoiler on the boot . Oh those were the days!

My favourite 90's Vauxhall is probably the first Vectra. I didn't think much to the mk2.

I had one of these cars..1.4 16 v that thing was a stick of dynomite. Good car. I drove it to Bulgaria. Solid underneath.
You have done the right thing there, even my polish friend wouldn't buy that one 😂, I had a couple of those Cav 1.7 turbos huge turbo lag but as soon as the turbo cuts in they go like hell. I remember keeping up with my mates GSI Nova -he sold it after that as he was embarrassed a diesel Cav kept up with it on the motorway 😂
😆 I'm getting more and more tempted by a diesel cav now ! 😄
I'd be concentrating on the Viva. Had a mk3 Cavalier. No power steering. One heavy brute. Next was a 96 Vectra 1.8 LS. Loved that car.
You had a lucky escape there Steve that thing was just a money pit mate 😮I watch once driven as well and I do exactly the same mate looking at cavaliers there's a nice one for sale in Stanley sri replica but no good for you mate doesn't look like there's much rust for you to get ya teeth into 😆I really like them old three litre senator's as well Steve only problem is we've got two cars to start with! if I turned up with another one our lass will think I'm taking the piss 😂

Mk2 carlton was my favourite, was a decent drive,good on fuel and very comfortable. Closely followed by the v6 omega,went well but liked a drink or 2!

Have to agree, I loved a 90s Cav and had a few SRIs back in the late 90s. Great cars back then. Had a mint mk2 LXi all lowered on 15 inch TSWs back in 1998 which I loved. Still miss that car!

Hard one to answer as had few 90s cars lol was fond of the citreon ax GT when was a lad also had a MK2 Uno turbo and few Vectra Sri

1996 Towncar was my favorite 90s(had one so Im biased haha) 6 or 7 ashtrays in that bad boy, and I dont smoke! Haha

You never know til you try - favourite 90’s car…….Volvo T5, though I love dougies mk3 cavaliers and remember them well from the day. Also mk 1 Laguna, celica, supra, 200 sx etc 🤣
Exactly mate! Some excellent choices there, I've drove all of them cars before, apart from the 200 sx and I used to love the the look of them things back in the day, been ages since ive seen one on the road 👍

I had a thing for BMWs especially the E30 had three , 318is 320i and 325i wished I kept them the price for them has gone astronomical

Hello,shame about the Corsa,I thought it would start but it wouldn't 😔,I do like the Vauxhall Cavalier,they are nice cars.i do like the Astra GTE in white for a 90s car for me.

I had a mark one Laguna from about 95 if i remember rightly bloody lovely car to drive and really comfortable. never had a problems with it in two years. the only thing that let it down was the bloody heater matrix failed (comon fault on the mark 1's) and it's a bastard of a job to get them out so i scrapped it as it was during winter and i was freezing me knackers off getting to work. 🤣

I've had cavaliers from 2000 to 2021 but after that I got the Peugeot 405 sri to do. Since then I have got a vectra b sri recommended by Dougie

Diesel and power steering fluid mixed together and a little in each cylinder every few days, I feel your pain, I had to change front lower arms, with the same room you have, I spent most of the time crawling in or out squeezed against the wall, the Viva started up a bit rough, soon as you finish it seems to get jealous and want more work.
It's a bit of a nightmare ain't it mate, I'm dreaming of a double garage one day ! 😄 fingers crossed the viva seems to start everytime now, i hope I haven't spoke too soon 😆

Favourite car of the 90s . Fiat panda 4x4 Sisley which i wish I'd kept cos theyre silly money nowadays.

How did that car look ‘so modern’. Obviously a 1930s car used for ten years, abandoned in a field during the war until found by your good self. Thank god the little viva is so much more solid.

Bin the 1200 for a 1600 spi from an Astra or vectra with the szr engine code. Engines look exactly alike but you get a bit more punch & it’s a straight forward swap.

Funny you should have mentioned Mk3 Cavs.....I've got a Mk3 Cav saloon to restore if the Viva stops giving me work (ha! 😏 ) . The Cav is a bit like the Viva , used to see them everywhere back in their day, but hardly see them in the classic car world today...shame.

Plenty of nice things from the 90's, bit hard to choose what a favorite one of mine would be from the time. Will say i do like some 90's Rovers (like those 800 series ones), look like some nice ones will say & wouldn't mind giving them a go. Myself i daily a 1997 Mitsubishi Magna (called the Diamante in other countries), which i picked up for $2400AUD in late 2012 or so, and still goes great to this day. Got it from some old bloke, who kept it nice & clean, nice amount of k's on it for something of it's age back the, a smidge under 180,000 at the time. Rather have something like that from the 90's, than some new crossover thing that's tech this & hybrid/ev that, just stuffed right up the backside, as many do nowdays. Like some have said, card kind of reached their peak around the end of the 90's in some aspects, and are just nicer than whatever new ones these days.

Love the mk 3 cavs sreve had one 16gl beautiful car ran brilliant and like 2dr mk 3 astras. I think the corsa b do rot underneath, t sitting up didn't help it.

Also like mk2 astras mk1 nova sr mk2 cavaliers and the mark 2 convetable, 1.8 engines were not the best 2.0 redtops were better.

The best 90's car to go for are Astra G coupé, still going cheap but are future classics, and the best bit is they are Galvanized bodies so unless it's been repaired or heavy stone chipped they survive
I've owned a diesel astra G before it was a lovely motor, they are starting to look retro now!

Shame it seized - would have been fun to try and start it without the key by turning the hazard warning switch upside down. Mk3 Cav would be good choice for a 90's car - pretty economical in the day for what they were.

It's a Mk 2 Cavalier i want, preferably the SRi 130 edition. I had a Mk 2 and a Mk 3 both just 1.6L. I would also like a Mk 3 golf, I have had a Mk 1 and Mk 2 but have wanted the Mk 3 for a few years

Always had vans back then. Vauxhall Midi lwb with the 2.2 Isusu diesel. Loved it but rotted like hell.

My son had an amazing metallic black Calibra with a Redtop engine. Flying machine, and luxurious with leather. He only kept it for a few months, be worth a bit now! Sorry about your Corsa, but based on your investigation of the rust, I don't think it was a keeper.

Favourite 90’s car has to be the EK9 Civic Type R or something simple like an XJ220

Hammerite great to keep underbody rusty free but thirty pound paint can but seven years it last
One good thing though 🤔 the car is 40lbs lighter than when you got it having knocked all the rust off it 😂, Time to concentrate on Viva 👍🏻 oh and my dad had a great way of stopping us kids messing in his car ? Locked us in the boot every trip 😁 I was 16 before I knew what a seat was and a wind up window was so hi tech .

Very few '90s cars stand out for me, mainly because this is the decade where cars began to turn a bit bland and unremarkable.
There's the BMW E31 8-series, but you definitely can't run that on a Knoppers budget. Likewise the Subaru SVX - a proper concept car for the road, but not cheap to run and the automatic gearbox can be fragile. At the cheaper end, possibly the Mazda 626 of the very early 1990's with 4-wheel steer, or the mid-1990s Mazda 323F 5-door, but can you actually find any these days?
