    A sensitive question, with no negatve agenda. I see that you are a heavier gentleman, as am I !!! I too have a 10 foot sit on kayak made by lifetime.The reason I mention the manufacturer is that I have the same seat as your's. With my center of gravity higher than normal, balance is an issue. As is entering, and exiting my kayak. So, as a larger guy, how bout some tips ?

    • @FishINwithGRAMPS
      @FishINwithGRAMPS  Рік тому

      I don't stand, as I have a bad knee. I sit on the side of the seat and push off from the bank.

    I have a Sportsman as well, and a Wilderness Systems cart. I'll have to try your method of unloading w/ the strap over the cart!
    I do have a question about your straps, though - You say you cut the hooks off, but what do your tie-downs in the bed look like? In my truck, the tie downs are these flat metal loops covered in bed liner. I would think that the straps would eventually wear through where they rub these loops, and would not feed them directly through these. I don't have a problem with the hooks on these loops, but if you don't like the hooks, wouldn't you at least want to feed the strap through a carabiner so the strap is not rubbing on a sharp edge?

    • @FishINwithGRAMPS
      @FishINwithGRAMPS  2 роки тому +1

      I've used carabiners as well. I actually have a yak trailer now

  • @ronaldraux6909
    @ronaldraux6909 Рік тому +2

    I wouldn't recommend strapping through the handles. They are only screwed on and can eventually be pulled off the kayaks. Run your straps through scupper or even peddle drive opening and just snug the straps loosely .
