  • Beagles are the most popular breed for lab use because of their friendly, docile, trusting, forgiving, people-pleasing personalities. The research industry says they adapt well to living in a cage, and are inexpensive to feed. Research beagles are usually obtained directly from commercial breeders who specifically breed dogs to sell to scientific institutions.
Testing done on beagles in university and other research facilities includes medical/pharmaceutical, household products and cosmetics. When they are no longer wanted for research purposes, some labs attempt to find homes for adoptable, healthy beagles. Working directly with these labs, Beagle Freedom Project is able to remove and transport beagles to place them in loving homes. All rescues are done legally with the cooperation of the facility.

You people are AMAZING. I love each and every one of you beyond words... long may you succeed in saving these wonderful, loving, sensitive little babies from morally bankrupt and wholly unnecessary testing.

Heartbreaking!!!! I have a Beagle and he's a rescue. Him and his brother weren't rescued from a lab, they were dumped by a hunter because they were gun shy. Thanks to BREW Beagle Rescue Education Welfare, both my pup Sarge and his brother have forever homes. I can't even imagine what kind of heartless person could use these happy go lucky dogs for testing and not feel any guilt. I'm glad that my pup is gun shy, otherwise I wouldn't have such a wonderful friend!!!!!!!

I've recently found out about these cruel practices. As a beagle owner, I haven't had a dry eye since watching these videos. You are heroes.

My boyfriend and I are going to adopt a beagle once we have the proper space for one :) He had one but his beagle was put down because of old age and he was also unable to move due to a tumor. I almost had one as a kid, one was given to me then taken back by the owner so I can't wait to finally give a home to these precious dogs.

Thank you Shannon. It's been two years since we buried Daisie under a Star Magnolia sapling. I watch these videos until I have a yard again, and can adopt a pair of these wonderful creatures, and give them a place to sniff and run.

I am surprised that in Canada, nothing was done about it. There are laboratories in Quebec and parts of Canada where beagles are still used for testing. They were mistreated, abused and neglected. These were witnessed on W5 documentary.

How can someone dislike this video? This is one of the most amazing things someone can do, They rescued and saved several lives from cruel testing in labs.
