- On May 6, 2014, Beagle Freedom Project rescued nine beagles from a laboratory in Nevada. Until this day, these beagles had never known a kind touch, been loved or felt safe. Their lives are about to change forever. www.bfp.org.
I was about to work for an animal testing laboratory in San Mateo, but when I was given a tour of the lab, I saw a beagle dog in a cage looked at me so sad, I bent down and it put its hands on my hand. The same day I refused the job offer even though it was a very high pay job and that I completely quit that field or work. That sad look and its hands still haunts me to this day. Wish there is a better way to advance beyond testing animal.

How can you dislike this action ? The love of a dog is unconditionally. A person loves you for a reason...a dog loves you just for being there. He will starve to death beside you...try that with a human being . Heartless people...

I cried through this video! I found a beagle like these babies outside my hospital. He had been abandoned from a laboratory which was confirmed by the vet. He came home with me and we enjoyed a wonderful bond for 17.5 years. He was my boy and I consider myself lucky to be able to have been a part of his life. Pure joy.

utterly amazing!!!!!!! it breaks your heart to see where they were. i'm so glad they are free. i 2 beagles. they are loved and they are free. they are well loved and people know hunter and baxter. they roam free in our small town. they aren't on chains. animals aren't meant for cages. so you beagles have the time of your life. breath the fresh air, let the grass under your feet feel good. but most of all, you are now free to find a forever home and someone to love you. we all know you will love back. good luck guys.
Please don't let your animals "roam free in your town", no dog deserves to be hit by a car because their owner gave them too much freedom :,( it's important to love your animal, but it is also important to keep them safe. Thank you
Until I saw this video I never knew that they used dogs in labs. I was horrified. It makes me cry every time I watch this but I'm crying with happiness. God bless you all.
To all of you with negative comments about these poor creatures and what they have suffered GET LOST and a big hand to all of those who made this rescue happen and who will hopefully rescue many more animals from things like this
Bless the organization that is working to free these dogs and let them enjoy the rest of their lives. I hate that we experiment on animals.....I'm glad they are relatively free now.
I always thought that all research on animals was forbidden in the U.S.A. I am so happy that these lovely beagles got released & will find a home were there will be a family that loves them.

Beagles are one of the most beautiful animals I've ever seen. They're all gorgeous and so loving and forgiving in this video. I could sit and play with them all, all day.

For people who say that saving human lives is "more important" than saving an animal, well...I just feel sorry for you. No life is more important than the other. If you are so good to take time to post a negative comment on something so noble and beautiful, please, get up of your seat and find someone to help or something useful to do. It's wonderful to see videos like these, love Beagle Freedom Project, they are amazing. Not much people do things like these nowadays (and it's a shame because animals need our help).
I watched this with tears in my eyes. Beagles are the most loving, gorgeous dogs you could ever imagine. We lost our gorgeous beagle, Bella, only 5 weeks ago and our hearts are broken. We would give anything to have her back with us. How can people treat them so badly - they are poor defenceless animals who depend on us for so much. Shame on them. But, Congratulations Beagle Freedom Project. I wish I lived in the States so I could adopt one.

i have a beagle and she is good dog. im starting to realize how special this breed is. these animals were abused and treated terribly. even after being treated like garbage they still arent mean. how sad that these testing orginzations do this. it makes me very angry. my beagle is lying by my feet as i watched this. i really did not know just how sweet on an animal they really are. if these animal testing dogs arent mean after years of abuse i think that might mean that there is no such thing as a mean beagle.

Thanks, Despina. Some religious teachings (Christianity in decay, not the original) say there's no animals in Heaven, that they have no souls. Not only does this violate Scripture and Catholic mystical visions but it's mean and false. The laws of Moses mention treatment of animals a lot. "Don't eat any animal under 1 year" "Don't boil a kid in its mother's milk" and that gem, "You shall not muzzle the ox that treads out your corn". I'm so ashamed our species needs that one!!
blathermore Thanks so much for the insight! I have no doubt that our precious animals go to Heaven!! The Lord promises our heart's desires for those who love Him, and they are most definitely of my heart's most cherished desires. I have also read many books from Christians who have researched the Bible and come out with enough biblical proof for me that we will absolutely be with our beloved animals throughout eternity. :)
See, this is all I want. Freedom for not only dogs but other test animals too AND animals that are used for food. I want freedom for them. Dogs, cats, mice, cows, pigs, chickens.. all running free. They've done nothing to deserve a painful life spend behind bars. Just because of us.

I am a beagle owner. This brought me to tears. These dogs are the most loving, intelligent companions. I just can't imagine using them, or any other non-human animal for testing anything. It really sickens me, physically to think of the trauma they've been through. I really hope they adjust and learn to trust the right humans. What kind of person would do this sort of thing? It's just so far outside my level of comprehension.......just unfathomable.
my rescue beagle i had for 13yrs. and had to be put down, bad heart. best bread in the world. hats off to any individual thats in the rescue league....love ya all. god bless.

The first dog I ever owned was a Beagle. She was the second mother in my house as she always looked over us with a huge smile, was quick to defend her family, and never asked for more than just a little bit of attention. I would gladly face the consequences of kicking a lab scientist in the face.

Videos like this are the reason I've started switching to cruelty-free products. The part at the end where they're hiding in a crate, because that's the only home they've ever known, just breaks my heart!

jdallinder Surprisingly, they move on eventually. Beagles are resilient. The forgive easily and are very docile. This is why they are the chosen breed for testing.

I fell in love with my beagle, Roxy, 12 years ago when she was brought into my life. It breaks my heart to know that this kind and loving breed is so frequently used in laboratories. I wish no animal had to suffer for experiments, and I wish Beagle Freedom Project could expose these labs..but I am happy that these amazing dogs are getting a second chance at life. I know they have so much to offer
This video literally made me cry. At first, because I know there is so much cruelty and suffering being wrought on poor defenseless animals like these Beagles. And then tears of joy for the pure happiness they were experiencing for the first time. These rescuers deserve a medal and I hope they continue their good work as long as possible.

I have to be honest this is one of the saddest yet at the same time joyful videos I have ever seen. I literally had a tear in my eye, and I am a man. It is that fucking sad to see. I can not understand how it is acceptable for anyone to torture these dogs and cats in a lab. Its beyond cruel, its abominable. While there is joy to know they are free the fact so many animals will never go free, and how many have spent their entire lives there being tortured so a cosmetic company can make a buck, when its proven there are better methods, why in gods name are they still doing this to pets and innocent animals with no voice. So sad.

My first pup was a beagle-bird dog. He used to stand on his dog house & passersby said it reminded them of Snoopy. We had to put him down about five months ago after 16 years. Beagles are amazing dogs. I'm happy that people donate their time and energy into rescuing these sweet animals. God bless y'all, and thank you.

Because this organization is very kind in their methods. They nicely ask the labs for the animals when they are done with them and are even willing to sign non disclosure agreements. They care way more about saving the animal then blowing up the labs on social medial. Their approach is so much better. You want to find out which labs do animal testing? I'm sure it's not hard to find on the internet. They care way more about labs releasing these poor souls, cause in the end they are what matter at the moment. So many organizations are trying to stop lab testing and making a lot of noise. These guys are willing to save these poor souls and give them a name and a life. That's it :)

I live in Australia and am extremely interested about helping to stop things like this occurring here also, is there anything like this here in Australia? I cried through out the entirety of this video and hugged my very own beagle x lab tightly, cruel practices like this make me hate humans and how inconsiderate and cruel we can be as a race.
you keep an animal locked in your house and as far as it can tell will squeeze it tightly at random with no way for it to know why any of this is happening.

mjazzguitar I know, but some people doesn't think that. "We are humans, they beasts." Dogs are my job and i've heard these kind of words a lot of times. Even when they have pets and want to "teach" them!! They think it's only orders and words and they fail in the communication. OFC, it's my fault.

very late reply but just boycott products which test on animals! there are apps which you can download to tell you if a product is animal-tested (just scan the barcode) or you could just google "does _____ test on animals" good luck!

I just love beagles. We had one for 13 years before she passed. That was 6 years ago and we still miss her. I'm so happy to hear these little guys got their freedom. It was heart breaking to see this but I tip my hat to the fine people who made this happen. You guys are true hero's in helping the helpless.

Shelby Shum and dannyvon hug You should both watch the movie or read the book: "Into The Wild"~ It's based on a true story of a guy who just graduated college and was fed up with society, gave away all his money and burned the cash he had with him and went on to live in the wild. He traveled for 2 years on foot in all kinds of places and then he went to Alaska... I will not ruin the movie/book for you, but that story has inspired me to not follow the daily life, this illusion we call life. They tell us we are free, but are we? We are doing same things every day, we spend 80% working and resting for work so our children and their children could do the same... It's quite programmed and everything resolves around money. We are like robots. The society is ruined and I think of doing something similar to what Christopher McCandless [protagonist of the movie/book] did! Good luck, both of you.
As a beagle mix owner, I can't say thanks enough for all you folks do. I had so many happy tears watching these 9 days for the first time be able to do what they wanted smell and play. Run and jump. Hugs and kisses to all of you little kids.

The question becomes what will prevent or stop the lab from acquiring more beagles for experiment?
More and more people finding out about this type of thing and not buying products from such companies is my only guess.
redknight801 not all labs are large corporations running experiments on new products. Take for instance, NIH. I don't think that you would want to boycott NIH
There are so many organizations trying to stop animals testing. This group cares about the direct souls they are lucky enough to get released to them. Some day animal testing will change I'm sure but it's important to remember to be present with the individuals that are alive now and can be affected by such rescues. I'm sure they want to stop animal testing too but their focus is on what they can do now. They may not be able to change the world today, but can change the world for these pups today.
My family adobted a beagle from a laboratory. He's really sweet and adorable. He was in a lab for eight years, and never went outside before. Still, everything has worked out. If you can, adobt a dog and save a life :)
