I made 1 in 100% EVOO in rosemary/lemon e/o in 2019 let it cure for a year. It was a blessing to my friend had a double mastectomy in 2021. It was the only thing that help with the chemo and radiation she had to receive. I'm a cancer survivor and those treatments are horrendous. Thanks for sharing your recipe with other soapers. Many blessings.

I usually do 2:1 water/lye ratio on everything but I may try a little steeper for Castile. I usually do 8lbs batches and do several of those Castile because waiting a year is tough. Boy is it worth the wait!!! I use pomace oil, a little castor and vitamin E. Ruth you’ve got me jazzed again to make more. I don’t give these bars to just anyone. They’re coveted for sure.

Good morning Ellen, It's 3:56 AM (EST) on Oct 7th, The method you use looks as if it would fit in a way to my making soap. I developed a skin sensitivity post-COVID-19. Dermatologists refuse to acknowledge that the Vaccine got away from them. So...I'll do what my mother and grandmother did, take care of it myself with what God put on the earth for us. I truly appreciate your post.

HI I have learned so much from you and you have been so nice to answer my questions SO today I thought I would tell you of a recipe I found that I think you might want to try - have you heard of Zany's no slim castile soap? I made it and I was really impressed - it is online but just in case
you make jar of I quart warm water 1 Tablespoon each of sea salt and baking soda - cool - super fat at 0 and 1.17:1 for water
to lye ratio. I made it at 110 degree F which helped with faster emulsion. I made it in individual molds no insulating took 1.5 days to set and perfect - I did another batch with oven, as she said and was not happy with the look - maybe for a log - I am not an oven fan would rather use a blanket - I don't sell soap and just an advanced beginner lol I just did a 4 bar trial
any how if you ever have a spare minute give it a try AND THANKS for being the best teacher!!!

Just so i can have a harder bar. I was a little worried about a highr water discount because I've never done it over 5%.

5% discounted from what? I would've thought once your 50/50 water lye solution is made everything after that is adding water so I'm a bit confused why its called discounting when your really adding water.

Hi Ellen, they look super creamy!
A few months ago I made a bastille soap - 85% olive oil and 15% coconut oil. My lye concentration was 38.5% (that is a lye to water ratio of 1:1.6, so a pretty steep water discount). I was unable to stamp my soap for a month as the bars were too soft and pulled soap away with the stamp. It looks like you are stamping the day after with no issues. Do you have any ideas why I am having stamping woes?

Mine is not Castile anymore, i add 5% Castor oil and i use beer as my liquid, thats it! I actually like a cross between a cream cleanser and a light foaming cleanser. Love this for my face. But for my body i need bubbles!

@@EllenRuthSoapThank you. I am trying to find a good formula. I Add sugar if I don’t add castor. I will make a true one when i get more oil!

Are you on any other platforms with your videos? You tube is almost unusable. Very long load times...especially for their ads.

Tea tree is highly allergic to sensitive skin.

That is true, I am not able to tolerate the smell of tea tree oil. Cooling essential oils is best for sensitive skin.

I personally love to hear her chat. She's giving us so much great content and information I don't even realize how long she's talking. She's the only UA-camr I can do that with. This is her channel and she can do what she'd like with it.
