Everyday Tommy looks, sounds, and gestures more like his Dad 😂
Roman with less word salads yes.
Does the other guy ever take his sunglasses off?
What we really need, which I'm starting to see more in western Canada, is gas stations putting in EV chargers. They're already in the right places, and have bathrooms, snack, and "car stuff" like windshield cleaners.
Just add some fast charger stalls, use the same payment system (no stupid apps), and adapt with the times for the betterment of all
Sadly i actually road trip every month, basically, on a packed schedule, so EVs still aren't for me. But better charging or just massively bigger batteries will get me there, and i can't wait!
(And yeah hopefully some EVs still have android auto once we're there 🙃)
I’ve been saying this for years
no they want you to go to the back lot of a Wal-Mart to charge.
Petro Canada does EV charging, and they're (in my opinion) intentionally terrible at it. They leave their stations in poor or broken states for literally years.
I believe they have a vested interest in people buying gas, so anything they can do to make the EV experience worse, they'll do.
@@tarfeef101 The problem is space. Gas pumps cycle cars through about 5 minutes at a time. EV chargers are 20-45 minutes at a time. That’s a problem.
@@NomenClature-o8s Exactly. Being a Controls Engineer where I deal with numbers all day long, I did the math using the numbers you provided. So, if we use a large station like Loves or pilot. The kind of station you find along most freeways. If that station had 5 islands with 4 pumps (2 per side) for total of 20 pumps. At 5 min/vehicle each pump can do 12 cars/hour. That means the station can do 240 cars/hour. So, if the same station had 20 fast chargers, and the charge time was 30 min. The station could do 40 cars/hour.
I really love my Prologue. It's a very comfy car to drive. I found it more comfy than Tesla. I have no regrets, other than the network. Going out on a roadtrip was difficult. We found cut cables, charger communication issues, and very slow charges for some reason. For 98% of the time it's a local car, so no worries there. I still haven't driven my gas car yet, that's for the next road trip. And no, I didn't buy the Prologue, I leased it. I just don't think one should purchase an EV just yet.
that lease is a lot of money to not own
I have been concerned already about the number and locations of recharge stations but the high percentage of 'out-of-service' charging stations is REALLY concerning. I'll stick to my hybrid Accord for now.
You said no one should purchase an EV yet and just left it as that. Tesla? Hello? If you want an EV get a Tesla. Tesla is not all EVs. I had no problem doing a Tesla road trip
@@rylans.5365 tell me more please. The Range anxiety is holding me back.
GM can now charge on Tesla V3 superchargers, of which there are more than 17,000 of those. You need to order a $225 adapter from GM to do it.
The dashboard in the Blazer EV looks better. The screens are better integrated and it's less chopped up looking.
I wonder how many of these chargers are down due to vandalism. Since so many of them are located in remote areas of shopping center parking lots, it seems that it would be difficult to prevent unwanted tampering. I would love to see more charging stations adopt the gas station model of having attendants and convenience stores. I feel like that would help prevent vandalism and keep users from accidentally breaking chargers due to not knowing how to properly use them.
Since GM got Tesla Supercharger access today I wonder if these can.
Saw this car while CRV shopping. Really good looking car. I kept my 19 Camry tho, for now.
Too expensive. Buy a lyriq
Especially with the latest Lyriq lease deals. I’d bet it would be cheaper than the Prologue to lease.
No, Honda is far better
Back in May, my wife and I test drove the Prologue Touring. We were planning to replace our Pilot Touring, with the Prologue Elite. The Prologue is a suitable replacement for the Pilot but not at $60K and up. So we decided to explore the used market and purchased a 2022 BMW iX M50 with under 8K miles, instead. It was cheaper than the Prologue Elite and we got a lot more for our money... Viva La Depreciation.
thats a legit great find!
This is far better than any bmw
Without a price on the BMW, it’s hard to gauge if you got a good deal.
BMW iX is a far more superior car with much longer range, comfort while cruising, space inside, in the luggage compartment. Once again no frunk whatsoever.
Excellent buy. The used market is where it’s at right now. The IX is a far better value at that price.
As much as I love EVs, they're still limited by the charging network.
Evs wont hit mainstream until charging isn't terrible
Depends on where you live and what you use the car for. The person that drives to work and back, charges at night, can care less if there is fast charging nearby. All he need to do is get to the first fast charger on the highways and he can travel anywhere.
Hopefully the opening of Tesla’s network to other manufacturers will help mitigate some of the issues we’re having today. But even then, we have a long way to go. For now plug in hybrids seem like the best of both worlds.
@@insainllama Or people who could be driving BEVs are being told hybrids are the way to go and that will slow the growth of the charging network. Even worse it has car companies investing in hybrid tech which will become obsoleted by BEV.
@@danharold3087 Naw. I've driven hybrids primarily for about 15 years. I switched to EV's 5 years ago and haven't looked back. It's like going from a flip phone to an iPhone. 🤷🏻♂
The title seems unfair as the issue with charging is an issue any non tesla would have had in Southern California and who knows what the Tesla charging situation is in that area. They have a lot of Teslas down there. Also GM just got the ability to charge using Tesla chargers and that’s not mentioned in the videos and they should have know it was on the horizon. I’ve test driven this car in the top trip and an AWD Blazer EV. I prefer the Prologue. If you can get a good lease deal on it would be a very nice starter EV as it is very normal. It has normal car looks, normal door handles and nice buttons and switches. The infotainment doesn’t look as cool as the one in the Blazer EV but it has wireless Apple CarPlay and some may prefer the way it is designed. The instrument cluster is very nice and configurable. You can easily put the map in there with a press of the button. If you get the top trim of the Prologue you get everything Honda offers in the Prologue, nice and simple. Not so with the Blazers where you really need to do an investigation to figure out what each car gets. Honda enthusiasts are hard on this car because it’s a GM but my worry with buying this is more with Honda than GM. They are obviously not all in with EVs and I’d worry about long term maintenance as I’m not sure how long Honda will offer this car. Oh, and this is a big car, so that might appeal to some. It’s unusually large for an EV in the price point.
The Tesla Supercharger network is open to GM vehicles as of 9/18. All you need is the NACS adapter (doesn't have to be GM specific) and the Tesla app.
The issues with not having enough chargers in Southern California is well chronicled and not necessarily the fault of the vehicle.
Yup, and I mentioned that.
I think it better than Model Y in term of looks and better privacy. It based on GM platform meaning you don’t need to worry about anything hit the bottom of the car and it going to cause the damaging to the battery pack. Also repairable battery pack is one of the big plus, no 200KW power distribution module under the seat. It got power switch no need to plug in all the time. (Less phantom drain) Screen locks no problem just cycle the power switch and it gone. I think it important to be able to manually reset the software. One of the most important things is it does not spy on you. As soon as power switch is off all cameras are off.
Not sure about the charging, I had been going to LA so many times and never had problem. The only time I had problem is during the holiday there is no way to get the charger without waiting in line during holiday.
Please please start mentioning whether the sunroofs open or not. Virtually nobody mentions that critical point on any channel anymore and it seems so fundamental. It appears most don't open anymore and that's a deal breaker for my family. Thank you.
The front part of the sunroof opens and also will tilt.
All “Sunroofs” open if not broken; if it doesn’t open, it’s a “Moonroof” to help consumers know just by the name.
Note that some “Moonroofs” also open to make it confusing, but all “Sunroofs” are intended to open.
@@Cloud30000 dude there's TONS of vehicles out now with "panoramic sunroofs" that don't open... And yes I'd say they're technically moonroofs if they're glass. Sunroofs are metal.
I don’t know who started this trend of non opening sunroofs but I hate it. It really seems to be the case with EVs. The entry Lucid is a nice car, especially at the price, but the lack of an opening roof is a deal killer.
Yes Socal needs to up their # of DC fast chargers greatly!🎉
Last week, Me and my wife shopped various manufacturers for similar EV’s. We test drove the Honda Prologue and we loved the vehicle, but there were so many quality issues we had to pass. We ended up going with the Mach-e and couldn’t be happier. Paired with the ability to charge at Tesla chargers, it was hard to pass.
Infrastructure sucks. So, one can make, review, promote and sell EV's until they devour the planet. But that won't change the fact that it is extremely inconvenient, if not impossible when you are out and about and on a clock to get charged back up. And that is why PHEV or Hybrids are going to rule the roads over straight EV's. The cost and the double whammy of those cars make it questionable to purchase over a straight ICE, since they too rely on gas. So, why burden yourself with those when straight gas is already in place? In another 50-100 years maybe EV vehicles will be solar powered and adequate range to be a viable alternative to ICE vehicles, but as it stands, we are still a long ways off from an EV reliable environment.
Your point of view is valid for the here and now and in the USA. But there is always change in EV components, and, despite GM/Ford/Exxon et al, the entire EV ecosystem will improve. OP, have a look at the EV life in Norway or Europe and see what happens when you do not have vested interests buying up politicians and ad space.
I'd wait for the Ridgeline EV with Supercharger access
It’s not as seamless as you think. There are major problems with non-Teslas using superchargers.
@@NomenClature-o8s There are a lot more Superchargers, most of them are in better locations than other DCFCs, and they are far more reliable.
@@IronmanV5 In theory yes. I own a Cadillac Lyriq. I’ve tried several Tesla Superchargers with mixed results. EV’s are great commuter cars, for long trips I take one of my ICE vehicles.
@@NomenClature-o8s That's great for YOU. For people who want or can only afford one vehicle, access to plentiful, reliable fast charging is essential for weekend trips the annual trips to Mee Maw and Paw Paw's for Thanksgiving & Christmas
@@NomenClature-o8sDon’t GM products still require an adapter to charge on the Tesla Network? I wouldn’t be surprised if the adapter is causing some of the problems.
I would say the Honda is the best looking between the Chevrolet, Cadillac, Acura, and Honda
Nathan.... Truth.... These two go hand in hand.
I’ve seen a few Prologues driving around my area in Ohio and I like the styling and size (very wide rear). Saw a blacked out Prologue last night on the road and loved it. ❤
Out on the East coast of Canada in the largest city East of Montreal we still only have 1 DC fast charger in the city that is available, and the next closest is about 100km away. Public AC charging is also mostly nonexistent. The fact you had multiple DC fast chargers within 9 miles astounds me, we are only now getting additional chargers built and even that is only in one city. We are so far behind.
We're pretty slow in NS for sure. Out of the 3 maritime provinces NB is the clear headliner and each city has multiple options for EV charging (regardless of the EV brand/charger type). Irving Oil are installing their own EV fast charging stations at Irving Gas Stations, so thats a good addition (PetroCan did too but they've dropped the ball and let their stations fall into disrepair).
Hopefully things keep improving. I just got my first EV a month ago, no real challenges that I've run into in HRM or traveling to NB or PEI, but NS is still, noticeably, behind the curve.
I am actually genuinely shocked that a place with such extreme left wing politics like Montreal doesn’t have more chargers. I say that because as TFL found out for themselves, EVs ARE a political issue, at least in the United States.
@MichaelMiller-rg6or Montreal and most major parts of Quebec have excellent infrastructure it's just once you head East toward the maritime provinces that charging locations drop off drastically
No worries, if that charger is taken just drive up to Truro for the 200kw ones there! Just an hour each way.
This was why, back in 2021, I got a PHEV. Gas and go on road trips. Top up for EV mode for all the daily city driving. It's really great for our area.
You must not be counting the various Flo 50kw chargers?
Good news, a 6 bay 350kw electrify canada station will be opening shortly in Bedford Commons, and another 6 bay 350kw station just opened in amherst.
Don't try to do the cabot trail though!!!
Well done you three that was crazy. Alex so phenomenal sir. ❤. Nate this is exactly why you need to come back home. Immediately The charging stations are dangerous. Especially in the winter ❄️.
I drive my Bolt from DC to NYC often and I never have so much trouble finding a charger, if they are full I simply wait 10 minutes later someone always finishes and it's my turn. I've been pleasantly surprised that they aren't usually full. I ordered my Tesla converter yesterday who knows when it will show up, but it will be a nice back up.
I'm surprised that there aren't a few suppliers of the EV "skateboards" instead of each OEM spending billions on EV tech. Nice review. Like the conversation.
Nathan, we miss seeing you. Hope, you get more videos out. California style.
Three broken or otherwise unusable chargers in a row and a struggle to find a working charger that isn’t occupied. But don’t worry guys, the EV charging infrastructure is just fine, totally ready to replace gas vehicles!
I am not anti-EV but they really need to fix this broken charger problem, and as we saw in this video, its not just Electrify America.
Tesla Supercharger Network is rock solid.
@@monaezytwo6513 I agree and hopefully them opening up the network to other EV brands will go a long way towards fixing the problem
theme parks should install ev charging in their parking lots
Problem is too many cheap free loaders use the free DC fast charging that comes with the car for local driving instead of charging at home. DCFC is only for long distance driving but it’s being clogged in California with too many free loaders. Hyundai and a few others need to get rid of the free charging plans ASAP
Can you check if it will charge on Tesla superchargers as a GM vehicle since it’s a GM vehicle under the skin and Tesla activated GM on the Tesla network today.
That car is not worth $59K.
ive eaten at the Knotts chicken house so many times its our family favorite last time i was there my pop had died and the whole family went to eat there after the funeral, we have had weddings parties, anniversaries, and birthdays there too
Who would have ever thought, 20 years after Oldsmobile went away, honda would make one.
Well Honda didn't make this, GM did, so your comment isn't far from the mark
@@lcann251It was meant as a joke
@@lcann251 No, wrong; Honda made this
@@DaleWillyWrong. The entire platform is GM. It might have Honda skin, but the entire thing is GM Ultium.
This vehicle is looking very well.
The problem is the high price for an otherwise unremarkable EV. That is hard choice vs competition: average charging, handling, some plasticky parts inside for the price.
This vehicle certainly has a more practical luggage compartment in the rear vs Tesla Model Y. And, I'm pretty sure the suspension parts are much much more reliable vs Tesla.
They really need to get on top of the infrastructure in the US if they want more uptake of EV’s.
I’m going to be covering the best part of 350 miles in the UK tomorrow. In a car with a relatively tiny battery (52KWS) and a glacial charging curve. No anxiety whatsoever. Makes EV ownership very easy. Particularly if you have off street parking so you’re starting your journey with c200 miles in the “tank”
Easy when your entire country is smaller than most of our states lol
@@DaleWilly a very quick Google states there are only 11 states bigger than UK. Actually surprised me. Thought there’d be more. But, it feels our population density is higher which might make it easier. Distances between major populations smaller maybe? Again. No expert but could also help. I’ve only been to Arizona, Nevada and California and you are right of course. Area can’t help. I suspect it might be the same for Australia.
I should add that it’s not perfect in the UK btw. Still areas with few rapid chargers.
In my area, Li believe you first need to make an appointment to use the chargers. You have to be signed up with the service.
Very nice blue green.
Tommy, what kind of watch are you wearing? Looks unique, love the color.
Too expensive and it’s not even a real Honda ain’t no way .
Good info, and sad to see the charging network (at least in S. Calif) remains an unreliable mess.
I think Nathan's section really highlights what is holding back EVs from mass adoption. Its simply the inconsistent charging experience.
I dont mind a 45 minute charge times for enough to get me another 150 miles or whatever, I dont road trip often enough for that to be a problem. But I cant charge at home, so I have to deal with charging networks. The high prices there, unreliable inconsistent experiance and the fact that manufacturers cant seem to decide where chargers go on the car complicating the issue of finding a charger just make the whole experience unattractive to me for anything but a second car, which I cant afford the space for. The lack of chargers in my area is also a problem since home charging is a no go (nearest charger is 20 minutes away), but that is much easier to fix than the other problems.
The way modern EVs are designed feels like mid-century ICE automobiles with the chargers all over. Is it in the front? Back? Behind the license plate? Manufacturer emblem? Is it in the trunk? In the last 80 years gasoline filler necks have largely been standardized to either the left or right rear fender. EVs need to be the same so charging stations can start getting "one size fits all" designs and start being built with "pull through" in mind like most gas stations. We need a standardized charger that works on all vehicles so we dont need 3 dongles taking up space, and if charging infustructure insists on using some app, it also needs to be an app that works regardless of charger, might be a good idea to just put a kiosk there or something. I dont want 3 apps on my phone and trying to figure out which one I need.
Thats what EV ownership looks like to me, a bunch of tiny annoyances that will all add up to make things feel fustrating. I am open to EV ownership, but its just nkt attractive enough at the moment. And no, I dont want a Tesla. Dont like the look of them, dont like the interiors and I dont like Musk.
Here in Southeastern, PA I have not seen any EV chargers in my neighborhood. The only ones I have seen are at the retirement community where my mother lives.
If I'm buying a Honda which I prefer I don't need an uncharged GM fake Honda! Would never buy or want a GM again!
Guys, looks are subjective. Stop wasting review time on things that are opinion and preference. Stick to the numbers and the tech stuff.
Hey guys, you forgot to mention that this vehicle has the Onstar button, is it active even though is a “ honda ” vehicle? That’s another GM interior feature out from the few you mentioned.
I wanted to love it, but it was insanely uncomfortable for both my husband and me. I’m so glad Honda 86’d their partnership with GM. Hopefully their next EV will actually be a Honda.
No one thinks twice about charging anything they own until they get an EV. It shouldn’t be that hard to charge a vehicle!
I sat in one while looking at a used Model Y at a Honda dealership. It felt like a CX9 from 2019 on the inside. Much more roomy in the Y and EV6.
its probably better to have GM infotainment, Honda is always way behind in this technology.
No talk about lack of head room while your hair is rubbing lol
I noticed that lack of headroom too.
It looks like a nice car. My concerns are:
Durability and reliability.
Front seat comfort.
Rear seat back angle and headroom.
Rear seats that don’t fold flat.
Honda dealerships ability to service and repair these unusual, for Honda, cars.
Otherwise, it appears to be a nice ev option.
@robertyoung1777 the elephant in the room is it's a GM wolf in Honda clothing. Gonna be a no from me.
A spare tire.
Every vehicle needs one.
Honda wants the best for its customers therefore they had gm build the car!! Kudos to honda!!❤
I imagine the resale value will be higher on the Prologue compared to its GM siblings just because it has a Honda badge on the front.
IF YOU HOOK THE CHARGER TO THE INTERIOR 110 PORT THEN TO THE CHARGE PORT OUTSIDE, YOU'LL NEVER HAVE TO WASTE TIME CHARGING.
I bought a Prologue Touring. I've had it 3 months now. It's more of a family car or someone that wants a roomy, nice ride car. It is quicker than most ice cars but not as fast as most EVs, why do you need that any ways? Pretty much the same infotainment center as the Blazer, just not all the colorful icons. It has Apple Play and Google play which GM doesn't. I would recommend it to someone that wants an EV and can charge at home. Do people realize that the fast you charge your car, the worse it is on your Battery? It will degrade faster and not last as long?
The problem is, a lot of people can’t charge at home and if that doesn’t change by 2035, which it probably won’t, people will have no choice but to use fast chargers as their sole means of charging. Chargers need to get faster, and batteries need to be designed to withstand constant fast charging. Otherwise there is no way the great EV switch will ever work.
Crazy money for a small car like this. Why would anyone buy it?
Nobody is going to pay $60K for these so it don't matter if the charging stations don't work!
I know they share the same platform with General motors, but I see more Prologue and Zdx in my area in Jersey
Yesterday I saw the new Chevy Blazer and I think it looks way better than this one. It looks a lot more upscale that than the Honda. The interior looks better in my opinion as well.
59k$ are you kidding me, abnormally high price. that car really cost about 28k$
The dash is not nicely integrated with two separate mismatched screens! Especially the central panel being so high up, sticking out obscuring the driver's view. They could have been better designed either as one large screen like GM own or Hyundai's, or better alignment of two screens like Ford Mach-e. Vey jarring and a missed opportunity.
Good points , OP, and this writer agrees. The central "I-Pad" looks like an afterthought. Just wait till some 09 yr old grabs this and gives it a 'yank' while fooling with the screen while Mom is 'busy'.
155 kW peak! Charge curve matters. Or what duration between 10-80% can it hold that rate. Remains to be seen.
Just not worth 30K more than a CRV.
Dang - EV Charging has a long way to go. Hopefully J3400/NACS will help in the years to come. 🙏🏻
knotts berry farm is the best theme park in socal, F the D they cost too much
I'd say of all the places in the world for public charging California may be the worst - very high percentage of EVs and the infrastructure is struggling to keep up. Eventually it will catch up but it's going to stall EV adoption a bit until it does.
This is why the EV take over will never happen. Informed people know about the charging problems and the prices. Keep in mind this video was showing the charging issues in Southern California the most heavily populated EV place in the country. Then there is the horrendous depreciation factor on all EV's.
But the gas stations on every corner? Still open and pumps available. And in California, the utility companies have the PUC in their pocket and they are constantly allowing the utility companies to raise rates. PG&E is on their second rate raise of the year of 25%. Electricity will soon pass gasoline in expense. Great job everyone!
Just wait till they start adding all the infrastructure taxes that are on gasoline. Electrical will end up costing significantly more than gas once the taxes get added.
Nonsense, just the talking points of the oil and gas industry. I can drive a Prologue for the equivalent of about a gas price of $1.20 a gallon.
@@trumpisastump9382 Fast charging an EV already costs almost as much as buying a tank of gas where I am, at least according to EV owners I have talked to so doing some quick math, no, it’s not just talking points. But then again, your screen name tells me all I need to know about your intelligence or lack thereof.
Cadillac *Cimarron* and *Chevy* Citation. Careful not to mix up these timeless beloved classics. ;-)

Who is Nathan's camera operator?
Hopefully a bodyguard. Lol 😂
Think they said it was someone that used to work for tfl that moved to Cali awhile back. So he's working for them again.
Will sell like hotcakes, a through and through HONDA
Geez, I got rid of my EV in 2019 because of a similar experience with third party charging. Still the same. Just sad. 😢
Aside from the charging situation, did you at least like the car?
That's why Tesla is the only viable option. Building an EV is a side show for other car companies.
If this is a rebadged GM product, did it get supercharger access today or does that not come with the badge? Kind of wonder if this video would be totally different if it was filmed a week from today.
Was wondering the exact same thing!
My research so far says no. The Honda and Acura GM collaboration vehicles do not yet have access to Tesla chargers only the GM vehicles do at this point.
I test drove one, it's a poor excuse for a vehicle with a Honda badge. Doesn't drive like a Honda, drives like a Chevy. I'd recommend waiting for an EV that's designed by Honda, not GM.
Can you get heated rear seats? I looked quick on the Honda Canada site but didn't see them available.
Kase is so adorable.
If it didn’t sound like a gm or have gm buttons, I wouldn’t mind it
Model Y Performance for 43,990 after tax incentive. Take even more off for Colorado.
I've never noticed Tommy's little tattoo before
Kind of disappointed that Honda choose a GM platform. You hear nothing but problems for the gm electric cars. I’ll wait until Honda makes the HR-V a hybrid
How come no information regarding battery size and range was discussed
It needs a plastic bag over the charger handle to indicate that it’s out of service, too bad the handle is gone 12:20
This is why I traded in my EV. Public charging is an absolute joke. (If you can’t use Tesla Superchargers)
The price is out of touch with reality. Also, why get this over the Equinox EV? No advantage
If you are not charging with Tesla Supercharger, forgetaboutit.
It's the Government Fleet EV.
Honda is getting older and becoming a copycat.
Bit of a misleading title. Nothing wrong with the car..
Although it may be a fine EV, if I want a GM product I will buy a GM. The Blazer EV is (IMHO) a better looking vehicle. The Lyric is far more luxurious. Glad to see that other companies are trying to compete in the EV segment. However, it kinda seems like Honda and Acura by default have kinda phoned this one in. $60K and not much performance? I think I will give this one a hard pass. There is a reason that the Model Y is the benchmark.
Exterior on Model Y is not good looking.
No one who owns this will know or care that it has GM switch gear.
Nice looking honda. Any super cruise? I like the hondas exterior and color choices on the interior ... I do not like the Blaze which looks like 1980's sneaker I hate the blazer's charge port and its piano black gills on the outside near the charge port.. the honda looks cleaner and more like what I want to be in.. but I like supercruise. . Chevy optic seems like a nice choice.. Maybe when they make an electric buick it will be normal looking too and less money than a caddy
Thanks for the warning that it's a GM
Need to boycot this blasphemy
Another just too long "compact car" these things are GIANTS !!!!!!
That’s like 95% an Equinox
Piano black, send it back.
Yup, public charging infrastructure sucks in California. It makes you wonder if they are trying to fail. 🤔
Well, the left wing tyrants in California probably want to take away our cars and force us into mass transit although they will never admit it to a mainstream audience. Maybe they are hoping EVs fail so they can just do that and 10-15 years.
