Thank you for sharing all this.Very rarely men talk about their childhood sexual abuse experience. And generally people seem worried only about the safety of girls..Don has provided some very valuable information here.. schools do ‘sex education’, maybe talk about good touch bad touch, hope some day, kids are also made aware that they are not at fault for being abused. I appreciate that you shared this with us, brother. Thank you, Di. Although it may happen to any of us, the truth is that no one wants to talk about it because of the way our society is set up. Our culture is often quick to place blame on victims, never understanding the true character of the individual.
As you indicated, acknowledging that we are never at blame and maintaining open lines of communication.
Developing a relationship of trust between our children and being aware of the individuals in their immediate environment are always crucial.

Thank you Deepa and Don for talking about this and that too in an unfiltered way. Having experienced abuse myself when I was a kid, I can totally relate. What Don vocalized is the same emotion and feelings that I went through then. It took me around 40 years to heal the trauma so I can imagine what it must have been when Don was narrating his experiences. More power to you Deepa for deciding to post this and More power to Don for deciding to share his story. I hope we all can do our bits to make this world a safe space for everyone else.

It would be really helpful for many people if you could give a little awareness about emotional abuse too, because unlike physical abuse emotional abuse is very hard to understand, even the victims takes years to realize that they were being emotionally manipulated for years, but the trauma it causes is equally bad.
