    Best video I have seen so far on Verizon Fios. I'm basically thinking about going from Cox to Verizon.

    Thats brother for this breakdown. I currently have Fios router and an extender...and yet still having some connectivity issues. Switching to a Mesh instead with my own router.

      did you get it to work? Im using Eero Pro 6 but with Optimum and I'm trying to cut cablevision and switch to Verizon but I'm not sure if my MESH system will work.

      @@HEAVENLYTUNESDJANGEL So I finally connected my TPLink Ax21 router (removed the Fios Modem/Router...since we cut the cord)...which is in my basement bedroom. Then ran the ethernet cable from router to the 1st Deco S4 (basement living room area. the 2nd Deco is on my middle floor (2nd FL)...connected via wifi signal. 3rd Deco on Top floor (3rd floor hallway). All seems to be working well. Its been only 2 days so far. But if all holds steady, Im taking the Fios equip back in a few days. LOL

      @twayne80 me too I cut the cord so I was all set with Verizon $69 for the 500mbps(enough for wifey and i) I called optimum to let them about the cancelation and they said NO let me help you out 😁. I'll give you the same speed for $49... s... cool! I don't have to redo my whole set up.
      I use Eeros Pro for about 6 years with no issues and a lot of devices.

    Yea it’s crazy they charge $18 for a router rental I called them to tell them I’m using my own router they immediately just waived my month router charge so I get their router for free monthly

    Should always use own router. Whenever switching providers wont to change ssid. ONT should be able to match mac address thru Ethernet port only setup.

    I would definitely suggest to go with the original Verizon router. CR 1000a. It works fabulous with FiOS even with 300 Mbps speeds with very little pink latency and Jetter. Just wonderful performance. It also connects hardwired to the Verizon. FiOS extender E3200.

    Hey man, luv the video. When you connect your own router to the modem, do you need to enter any new configurations to the new router or is it plug and play?. please let me kno

    Hey I connected my router to the modem, and it worked better than when I was using the verizon router (I was getting 930 dwn / 0 up) now its 930/151. But I'm suppose to have 930 upload as well; I tested this by plugging my computer directly into the modem and I got 930/930. Do you have an idea on what my situation is?

      I had a similar issue and it was the fiber connection in the outside box that was bent so the connection was broken. Verizon came and fixed it and the uploads were more than downloads after that. Check to make sure the connection to your outside box isn't kinked or bent.

    I hate that they mount those routers on the wall.. it’s impossible to remove it

      Lift if first, then pull it away from the wall. It's hanging on the wall - not screwed into it.

    So it was plug nd play? No need to call verizon and have them switch anything on their end?

      That's correct. I plugged it directly to the ONT box or the black box on the wall. I only have internet service and not TV.

    Thank you for a nice and informative video. I have used only one MM1025 Moca adapter to replace the Fios G3100 adapter. However it doesn't work and Motorola's website and support is useless. Your schech shows that there is no router or modem in your garage. I connect my Moca Ethernet port to my Nest router but doesn't work unless I'm connected to Verizon's G3100 outer.
    Do you ahve any idea if I'm doing something wrong?
    Thank you

    • @diymodsnstuff5514
      @diymodsnstuff5514  Рік тому

      I don't have TV service so I didn't test the Moca adapter option. I would think that the Moca adapter would connect to the router and there should be an output to your DVR/TV receiver.

    You think this set up might work with an Eero system? so the Black box fromVerizon(ONT) becomes just a modem?

    • @daillengineer
      @daillengineer Рік тому +2

      Essentially yes. It works fine as long as you are provisioned to use the ONT Ethernet port instead of coax.

    Do you have FIOS TV?
    Think the real issue with this is if you have FIOS TV using a non-vz router will cause headaches with your TV guide/streaming/apps or even getting your Fios one mini sets to activate.
    Right now you have to set up everything with the FIOS router connected in order to activate the mini's
    once they are activated you can switch to your own router (requires some port forwarding and other configs on your new router to work those settings can be found at dsl reports)
    If you ever need to re-activate the mini's you will need to hook the Fios Router back up temporarily
    I think this still causes issues with the Fios TV guide and FIOS streaming apps. FIOS TV should work
    it's been a while since I messed with this so someone may have figured out a way to get the TV Guide and Apps working.

      You don’t need the Verizon router for TV unless you have Tv One service. I upgraded to Tv One and couldn’t get it to work until i bought an old Verizon 1gig router from Amazon for like 30 bucks. All i had to do was run an ethernet cable from my home network to the Verizon router and plugged the coax from that into the main TV One box. Also turned off the Verizon router’s WiFi networks. Oh and it’s on its own subnet on my home
      Network so there’s no chance in Verizon or anyone being able to snoop on network.

    • @daillengineer
      @daillengineer Рік тому

      I tried all the port forwarding and other configs but it didn’t work. Ended up just getting a used Verizon gateway and putting it on its own subnet for isolation. Then i turned off its WiFi network (minis still connect to the hidden network) and all is good.

      That's why you need the MoCa adapter. This was for internet use only.
