Not Built For Speed is like 5 different genres in one. Jungle, trip-hop, middle-eastern, soul, jazz. Utterly breathtaking. We will never have this talent ever again!
39:45 the vocals in this song are so heavenly, the whole vibe of the song, really. I wish I could crawl in and live in this world. How many more obscure hidden gems exist that I am totally unaware of, just waiting to be found?
Just ordered a copy from the states, well worth the postage to Northern Ireland.. and its brand new :) not built for speed is a belter mate, all of it. All the best
It's so odd it seems like we're just finding out about this music now. I searched up a few songs from the critical mass album I liked and they had only like 500 views on them
Seems to be a resurgence of mid 90s - early 00s “electronica” like jungle/trance/triphop/BigBeat. I think Y2K is becoming the next nostalgia era since we’re in 2020s now
I listened to Lunatic Calm's first album again last month and ever since then, UA-cam has been recommending me tons of late 90s/early 00s techno/electronic/underground music and I love it. Feels like I've really taken a trip back about 25 years
@@JacobAndJamal I would also add genres like berlin school (klaus schulze, tangerine dream), synthwave, dungeonsynth and New Age. It is great that people are discovering/rediscovering music from decades ago.
It goes to show how hard it was to get noticed as a musician back then. So many talented musicians couldn’t get their music out there. This is why ppl say Many of the celebrities who “made it” were a part of a cabal of nepotism and “favors”. I’m not passing any moral judgment but when you look at how hard it was to be discovered combined with the amount of talentless ppl who rose to the top, it really makes you think.
My neighbors know the weekend starts on a Thursday night haha I'm on a roll 2nite & glad the algorithm is on some spooky shit. I feel like a warrior goddess rn, this is heavy and enchanting asf! ❤

Thank you! It still throws me every time. It's like a sound version of one of those animations where you can't tell if someone is spinning to the right or the left.
I was there for the premiere, haha at least in 2023 I was. A smooth and fulfilling trip of an album. Thank you to Kevin Crosslin for making the music. Thank you to Victor for not only sharing it to all but introducing many to Kevins music and Mindspore records releases.
@@cavestar2008 Likewise. I'm interested in sending some tracks your way for mastering if you're available for mastering currently. I'll send the form through your site, cheers.
I loved "Spirit Writing." Anyone know any type of similar-sounding music or chanting that I could listen more to? What its influences are, and where this type of sound originates from?
Three friends from CMU, Seth, Bill and Aaron. They moved to San Jose at the same time and worked in the startup space. They formed Mindspore as a side project out of their mutual love for music. I was employee #4, the art director, mastering engineer, and A&R.
Look up the genres trip-hop and downtempo. Portishead, UNKLE, Bonobo, Massive Attack, Tricky, DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, Nightmares on Wax, The Herbaliser, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Thievery Corporation
It's Trip Hop so like others said Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, Bjork's albums in the 90s, Esthero, Sneaker Pimps (first album),Thievery Corporation, Bombay Dub Orchestra

🚨ᴄʀɪᴛɪᴄᴀʟ ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ🔥 Cavestar has confirmed that Critical Mass Volume 2 is set for a December 1st, 2023 physical release - subscribe for more updates! 🎧🚀
Wish they would release critical mass volume 1 and 2 on vinyl
the deep kinda bass synth at 16:33 sounds a lot like the one used in the Goldeneye 64 pause menu music
What a time it was to be alive
It really was 🙏
I wasn't born yet for them, so I am recreating them (:
Hell yes brother
@@Firestarter1996 The essence is definitely in this comp! 🙏
Indeed. And also, glad I'm still here. This time is pretty special too.
I remember seeing this cd at places like streetlight records and tower records but never heard it until now. I'm blown away incredible album.

It was from a Native American horror film forgot which one. But thievery corporation has the same vibe
Do we know where the sample came from? Is it a French film?
Check out the albums from Bill Laswell and Jah Wobble ;)
