StarCraft 64 is definitely a clunky game, but it has a lot of cool features like lore dumps that were sadly lost and never brought over even to the remastered edition.
What specifically?
The big one I remember is the lore archive that talks about unit designations, lore, and other info that was similar to when you click on units in Wings of Liberty.

For me, Starcraft 64 is nothing more than a marvel in programming and problem solving, even with all the flaws and issues. You said (not totally loud) yourself, it was a painful playthrough. I believe you deserve some rest, bwahaha.
