    What are your thoughts on the things I hate about my Jeep? If you own a Jeep, what are some of your complaints? And if you're thinking about purchasing a Jeep, what are your concerns? We all love our Jeeps, but my goodness Fiat Chrysler!

      I Have a 2017 Jeep renegade And I Actually like it. I get about 18 miles a gallon i think thata pretty bad for a four cyndlier. And as pairing a phone goes its pretty simple with uconnet 5.0 oncw i start my car it recognizes my phone. Keep up the good work on videos

      18 mpg is bad actually that's the lowest the mpg gauge reads i dont drive it alot im an otr truck driver and yeah its underpowered its a 1.4 liter shark engine or something like tht top speed is 78 mph

      You my dude Anton but I feel as if you over paid. I have a 2012 JK and it’s fine with a 3.5inch lift and 35inch tires. Unless your Jeep has the same Dana 44 as the rubicon then no good deal. But honestly you could have gotten a less expensive model like the unlimited sport or Sahara and added a lot of features you wanted. A lot of after market parts for the Jeep are awesome. The gas mileage thing is weird. I get that with a lift, you might need to take it to the dealer to get it checked out.

    Honestly, I feel for this guy
    If anyone is spending that much money for a car it should come with the latest technology, and be made with the best quality. That being said, you’re playing for the “Jeep” logo brother.
    Best advice I could give you is buy a slightly used Jeep for less than half the price of a new on and invest a couple grand into it. You’d be spending less overall and have a Jeep fit to your liking.

      i agree a jeep is over priced and they do not provide you with what you should have based on the price. I could not afford a new one so I got a 2014 for 30k,,40k miles on it. My wife said,,"we could have got a new benz for that price." I said "yeah but the doors on a benz don't come off." Overpriced or not,,I love my jeep and this is me from pretty much here on out.

      That was my initial thought process. But since I want a JL, if...IF... You can find a used one, if only going to be 3 to 4,000 off the original MSRP with 30 to 40,000 miles on it, so you get little to no factory warranty left on it

      Facts. Jeep really pulled the fleece over customers eyes with all the "upgraded" packages- the upgrades aren't good. As you said, Jeeps are great at the barebones level, with after-market mods.

    Everyone is talking about “it’s not for you” or “when you buy a Jeep you are/are not paying for...”
    fact of the matter is, it’s his opinion. I really want a wrangler. I want the removable top and the mod-ableness. I still don’t think it’s worth the amount of money it is. Or... at least, it should have some luxury features that come with it. You ARE overpaying. It is just the Jeep brand taking advantage of the fact that the Wrangler is so unique. so they charge more for it, because you can’t get something like it anywhere else.

      Anton Daniels Not sure if you’d be interested, but if you’re that annoyed by the screen technology, there’s a kit for a 10 inch touchscreen that you can put in by yourself. It’s a bit pricey at 500, but it might be worth checking out some video reviews. Just look for 10 inch Jeep screen by gta car kits.

      You're absolutely right. and... Chrystler has been fucking their customers over with the wrangler for far too long. Unreliable, garbage interior, trash engines. everything. The only thing good about the wrangler is its off road capabilities, kinda fails in every other aspect. This day in age, if you're paying for that price, you expect a certain quality. i dont care if its meant to be an off road vehicle. Trucks used to be work vehicles, but look at the new fords and dodge rams. they're just as luxurious as some luxury cars. Now a days people want luxury, i remember seeing the price of a wrangler sky rocket by upwards of 10k in the last 5-10 years. its ridiculous how much they charge now.

    • @Lifeisgood311
      @Lifeisgood311 3 роки тому

    • @todtalk3912
      @todtalk3912 2 роки тому

      @@Lifeisgood311 They are making the jeep better now, although I have to disagree with the comments above because I actually own a jk 2013 rubicon. and it drives great, I personally think the interior is really nice, I think they can make it more basic in the fact that if you own one, there are many little crevices and parts that are very diff to clean because the way they make it look. I happen to think it holds up great, the paint on mine which is 8 years old, although super low miles is absolute perfection and it sat outside for this entire time, the interior is flawless, the leather seats are absolutely perfect looking and feel great, more comfortable than many seats and i've had a 2013 535 and a 2017 330e both bmw's and these seats are far more comfortable than those. Yes if you get a stock base sport jeep they are not the best, but they are also not expensive, in 2013 they were like 22 grand and now they are more like 26 or so, but not by any means high priced, and unfortunately paying for straight axels and more rugged (def not indestructible like the older axels pretty much were) still offroad worthy out of the box more so than anything else. if you want similar capabilities stock form from companies you can opt for land cruiser for 3 times the price, some land rover and range rovers some of which are not to far off the price or well into the 80k plus range and they are unreliable to a degree no one would buy without a solid warranty. point is there are other options, at dbl or more the cost that are luxury offroad vehicles technically more capable in some instances.
      you are buying a lifestyle in many cses. your buying something you can take the family into the wilderness with like a side by side, just not as fast obv. Your buying something that can be driven on and offroad. My rubicon little 2 door with handle the highway at 75 mph no problem at all very comfortably in my personal opinion. I had a 2012 tacoma that I drove till it had 150k miles and that thing drove like an absolute pos compared to my jeep on every level at about the same mpg so to say its not worth it just means that maybe it isnt for you or you didn't option yours properly. The sahara is more of the luxury jeep anyway, so this guy should of went that route and optioned it out still been about the same price or lower and had more of what he wanted. i know no one wants to hear this as it should come equipped better, but there is a gigantic market for diff infotainment systems esp for jeeps that will allow all the features to still work and be much better.

      exactly my thoughts, we recently had to let our 2014 wrangler rubicon go but what you pay for is the stuff underneath that you don't see, the suspension, transfer case, offroad goodies, body on frame construction etc. i did have a few of those complaints though but my absolute biggest complaint was the headlights, they were brutal bad for a 2014 at that price range, they did fix it for the 2017 year with led lights though

    • @ThePinoyAggie

      I agree, from the concerns Anton presented, it seems that its not the Jeeps fault that he picked the wrong vehicle for the features he's looking for. Fit and finish, acceleration/power, high-tech bells and whistles, and fuel economy. Tesla Model S is a better fit!

  • @thepassionofthegoose5472
    @thepassionofthegoose5472 5 років тому +4

    Videos like this are a reminder that if you're buying a vehicle that does a specific thing, like off-roading, you're going to pay more for specificity. If you're not going to use it for that specific thing, then things like poor gas milage will definitely impact your ability to appreciate your purchase to the fullest. I'd recommend taking it camping (if you already haven't) to a remote location so that you can enjoy it to the fullest. Cheers.

    I looked at the different jeeps over the years and ended up buying a 2003 Rubicon. It was already modified exactly the way I would want it. That also gives me a $35,000 budget to make repairs, upgrades and additional modifications compared to your $50K jeep. Like I could replace the engine, axles and roll cage and add front and rear cameras and repaint it and . . . . I still get about the same gas mileage. Lastly, I could not see myself taking a $50K jeep offroad and really enjoying it. A 15K jeep? Sure. I feel like you could get a lot more from a Jeep if you just paid a lot less to start.

    Anton, nice jeep. One thing I will suggest having owned two JKs, around 40k miles you will probably start having problems with the electrical systems. My power windows,door locks and main CPU went out after warranty. Plus, forget about getting anything wet inside even though you have drain plugs. Honestly if I could go back to my early twenties I would have kept my 97 wrangler 4.0 sport with the inline 6. The new JL model in my opinion is not a Jeep for traditional Jeep owners. Not a big fan of the soft top and bare look but it does have a lot of cool stuff for daily driving. Welcome to the club man and be careful. Enjoy the Jeep especially with summer approaching.

    What draws me to the Jeep is you can buy a pop up tent that goes on the roof. You go up through the roof of the jeep to get inside the tent. It's called Ursa Minor. They install pop up tents on Jeep unlimited, honda element and ford transit vans. You could take your family camping in it.

    Personally in my opinion I like how the technology is set back. A jeep isn't meant to have the new screens that we have today, because when the top is off and it rains well then your screwed. If the newer electronics were in I think it would just destroy the originality of the jeep. Personally you may also think that connecting a phone is slow, but it's also like that for other vehicles. This is my opinion and if anyone disagrees I would gladly like to hear your opinion too :)

      @Anton Daniels - It's because the model you own (JKU) and the one I do as well...is based off the 2007 model. It's been the same thing for 10 years. They are limited to what they can do on our Jeeps because if they do, it could be a significant change to the model series which affects aftermarket compatibility AND resale (which is the second best resale value on any vehicle in the world). This is why the 2018 JL series is such a significant jump on the inside the cabin amenities, dash reconstruction, electronics/technology, etc. The aftermarket will learn from the new JL line and will most likely offer some very good upgrades/fixes to your JK series without degrading the "stock" feel of the Jeep that makes it so appealing to just about the entire public. Also, remember...the Jeep has to operate WITHOUT the top on it, so it's technology and such has to be able to be exposed to a lot of weather.
      I personally like your model Jeep...very cool limited run series.

    People act like this is an acceptable trade-off. Absolutely not for the amount of money spent, so I definitely get it. As a former Jeep owner, Jeeps have always been simplistic vehicles meant to be used as a tool. HOWEVER, that used to come in at a functional price range, even though it had the additional downside of poor build quality and long term reliability. All of that was worth it because it was cheap, fun, simple, modifiable, and great off-road.
    The problem with Jeep is they took cheap completely out of the mix, didn't address any of the reliability and build quality issues, but also didn't actually add anything to the vehicle to justify the price. The price is literally a passion tax put on owners who want this unique experience and no matter how its explained a passion tax will always be bullshit. Also, that leaves the door wide open for other manufacturers to come in and take a big slice of the Jeep pie if any are brave enough. Hello Ford Bronco!
    With the Bronco, Jeep now has to do the things that they should of been doing for the last 20 years and actually put some effort in to innovate their vehicles AND competitively price them. Thank god, these things have been out of control for too long.

    So a few problems I have with your review....
    1) 13 mpg? How are you driving? My 2012 JK Sport has the 6 speed manual, plus Rubicon wheels and tires, and I'm still averaging 17.1 mpg.
    2) You paid $50k for a Jeep... Wrangler. Why? For about $10k more, you could have had a Grand Cherokee SRT8 with all the power and bells and whistles you wanted, plus the fit and finish, which I'll get to in a second.
    3) Speaking of fit and finish... you do know why the carpet isn't permanently adhered, right? Jeeps are meant for trails. Trails have mud and water. Why would want to leave your carpet in the vehicle if you're going to go through 30 inches of water on a trail? You'll ruin it. It's meant to be taken out.
    4) Lack of power? The 2012 JK will do 0-60 in 8.6 seconds. In a vehicle that weighs over 3000 lbs. that's not terrible. It's not a sport car. You want something with power and speed, get the SRT8, or Trackhawk.
    As far as the tech is concerned, you seemed annoyed when setting up your phone. That's typical for almost any bluetooth. I used to sell cars. I have set up a LOT of bluetooth systems for people. The button you complained about needing to hit to keep your phone charging is a safety and security guard. If that button were keep on, you'd run the risk of over charging your device, draining your Jeep battery, and/ or having a fire. So just remember you have to hit the button and move on.
    That's all I've got.

    I think if you go with the new JL Wrangler you will be even more pleased.
    1. The JL now has an 8-speed transmission and feels like its not struggling.
    2. It also has a ton more upgraded electronics and the dash looks more 2018 style.
    3. I think for the REAR visibility I don't know why you really need it. I mean for the traffic I can see fine. I have a 2018 JL and it has reverse camera and its perfect.
    4. I think for the JL it is almost night and day with the fit and finish. The jeep is an easily customizable vehicle but for 2018 with the JL they kept that concept but I think cleaned up a lot of the issues the JK had.
    5. I have the touchscreen in mine and it is perfect, no delay. I don't have NAV though.

    I've owned multiple Jeeps for the past 15 years, and the last 11' JKU Sahara (bought brand new) was a head ache in itself. The brand is not reliable. Believe me, I kept upgrading with the hope that the Quality and reliability would be there, but it is Not the case. The only great thing about the Wrangler is the re-sale value. In no way, with all the proper authorized maintenance, should a 5 year vehicle, need an engline and tranny replacement, right after the warranty expires. I finally gave up after being a Jeep owner for over a decade, and purchased a Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. 1 year of ownership, and ZERO trips to the dealership - compared to multiple trips with the Wrangler. Say all that you want to say about the vehicle being great off road - it is - by the way, but it should be reliable as well.

I bought my Rubicon brand new for $45K and put another $15K into it. But I LOVE off roading and overlanding. Jeep isn't about luxury. It's about having fun with. Get off the pavement, get it dirty, scratch it up on boulders and trees. See the views that no car will ever see. It's a lifestyle that maybe you aren't into.

You can get a lot of luxury german suv's used for 50k if you wanted a better fit and finish. Another thing, there's no excuse for that mileage. Relatively speaking, its a small engine for the size of the vehicle. and getting 300 miles on a single tank is pathetic. This is exactly the type of thing people have complained to Chrysler about for YEARS. they keep using garbage engines. They just didnt have the competition in that vehicle category so never cared to improve. The fiat 4 banger they got in the newer wranglers is a bit better, that diesel is great too. IF you're willing to drop 4k or 9.5k if you're Canadian. That's just a ridiculous price to pay on top of even a base wrangler, which is already expensive. I honestly think this new Ford Bronco is going to steal a huge portion of Chryslers market share. People have been fed up with being shafted by them and with Fords 2.3L 4 banger and 2.7L twin turbo V6, i can see a lot of people selling off their wranglers and moving to a bronco. There's tons of extra tuning potential with relatively low cost as it tends to be with software tunes on turbo charged engines.

    Imo the best thing to do is is buy a Wrangler as basic as you can and add to it. It's fun personalizing it and making it yours. I did that with my 04 TJ and with my 16 JK. Also homemade mods are fun.

    267 miles for a 17 gallon tank! That's 15 mpg. I know they are not great on gas, but are you driving that hard. I want a Jeep, but this could change things. I travel a lot for work. May not be the best choice for me too. Though I love Jeeps.

    Sounds like you don't want a real 4x4. Maybe you should of got a rav4.

    • @AntonDaniels
      @AntonDaniels  6 років тому +24

      What does having a "real" 4x4 have to do with fit and finish, the electronics working properly, and the engine being underpowered? You Jeep fanboys... I swear.

      Lmao “real” jeeps are shitty? I don’t understand. I mean maybe you’ll get bad mileage on any 4x4 I can understand that, but Jeep should still be making vehicles to the quality standards that they used to. My TJ is 20 years old and still feels like a solid and reliable vehicle, a new JK just shouldn’t have issues like this.

    You are absolutely correct about the 5 flaws for the jeep wrangler. I have a 2018 too. 13mpg really sucks. The navigation system is useless. Hopefully they fix these things.
