traviatablues I noticed your horses looked real good and then read your note that they were all privately owned. Riding a horse could be the most intimate experience with the valley, short of living there. And riding our own horse beats a rental by a lot, for sure! I'm happy for you!

My goodness you are kind! The footage was shot on five days. All told, we rode between 20-25 hours and covered many areas that tourists never get into. All the horses are owned by their riders and hauled there for the ride. The ride leader is Efffie Yazzie, who has lived there all her life and actually appeared in some of John Ford's films as a child.
A BIG thank you. The dream ride of anyone who enjoyed the older western movies, complete with music. Fantastic. Don't suppose it is possible to do this if you don't have/own your own horse (In the USA). Very kind of the Navajo people to grant such an experience.
Thanks for the kind words. IT IS POSSIBLE to ride there without your own horses. There are some outfitters that will take you on multiple-day rides, and the Navajos will take you out for an hour or two. I suggest you begin Googling and you'll find the outfitters. It's a wonderful place and a fantastic experience!

We have done 14 mile day rides at Valley Forge Pennsylvania & the Cowboy Town Trail Ride thru the Pine Barrens State Forest in NJ. I love the music & the silence in this video...the scenery speaks for itself!
I guess I'd be referring to dude ranches.As here in Tucson.areas/Pima County.A couple I have been to in the past.Such as Tanque Verde Ranch/White Stallion Ranch,and a few others,a little further south from Tucson.This year I will be going to the Apache Spirit Ranch,which is in Tombstone. All these dude ranches have there own horses,which customers can use on there planned trail rides.They have different horses,based on rider experience.I usually stay for maybe four days,at some of these.
A good portion of the year it's either just warm or downright cold in Monument Valley. Most people don't realize at how high an altitude the valley is.

George, we're in the Prescott area. We have our own horses, but are not a horse ranch. To do this ride, you will need to have your own horse, or be able to borrow someone else's. You will also need to be an experienced rider, so if you're not yet, you'll have to begin the process of getting saddle time........

Hi, I'm the one that shot the video. I was just one of the riders on this ride and was not part of a touring company. There are different ways to ride Monument Valley. In our case, we brought in our own horses and stayed in the valley in our own campers and living compartment horse trailers. Many different people handle rides in Monument Valley, and I'm sure with some googling you can find them and tailor your ride to whatever you want, so I think you can stop to photograph or video. This video was of 5 rides with all the same riders as we were there for 6 nights and 5 days of riding. Good luck, it's a fantastic place. With a horse, you can get into many places the public never goes.

There are two dude ranches in the Wickmburg,north of Phoenix.These are Flying E Dude Ranch and Rancho de los Caballeros Dude Ranch.I've never been to these ranches.They have there own websites etc.I do enjoy your videos of the rides.Do you have your own website?.I'd like to buy some of these vid's,if there available on CD Anyway thanks for your assistance

The Prescott area has loads of cattle ranches, but I'm not aware of horse ranches, though I'm sure there are some. I'm guessing you're talking about rental stables, of which I don't know of any, nor any in the Sedona area, which seems to be intent on phasing horses out of the area, unfortunately.
We parked our rigs in a box canyon within the valley. This was in May, 2011. Don Vinson, the ride's organizer, whom you can see riding an Appaloosa, died a few years ago, so this ride is no longer offered that I know of.
We did this ride with Monument Valley Trail Rides, run by a gentleman named Don Vinson. You must supply and transport your own horse. There are other outfitters that can supply horses for multi-day rides, or you can ride for a few hours while in Monument Valley with several of the Navajo outfits. Have fun.

The video is an accumulation of five days of riding. As far as the number of miles of trails, I have no idea. Much of the riding is done off-trail. I was limited at the time by UA-cam at 15 minutes, but the actual video of the entire rides is many times that length.

+The Cowboy Prepper This video was shot with a Sony HDR-cx550. I just hand held it and kept it as steady as I could. I have recently tried using a GoPro with a gimbal and that has proven to be very smooth.
+The Cowboy Prepper The gimbal is a 3-axis device that you attache the camera to and it keeps the camera very steady. There are a number of them on Amazon.com under electronics.
I'm not quite sure what you're asking here, but the horses in the video are all privately owned and were hauled to Monument Valley by their owners. The Navajos do have horses at the Valley and take tourists for rides, though you will not get into most of the areas you see in the video as they are too far to get to from where the rental horses are stationed.

I went to Tuba City High School. I used to hitchhiker. I thought MV was like 40 miles from tuba City. Lol

The video is 15 minutes but how long was the actual ride and how many miles of trails are at MV?
The video is an accumulation of five days of riding. As far as the number of miles of trails, I have no idea. Much of the riding is done off-trail. I was limited at the time by UA-cam at 15 minutes, but the actual video of the entire rides is many times that length.

Can camels walk around there?
Camels would certainly be capable of walking around Monument Valley, but I don't believe there are any there. I didn't see any.

If I may ask, what kind of camera did you use to keep the picture so steady?
+The Cowboy Prepper This video was shot with a Sony HDR-cx550. I just hand held it and kept it as steady as I could. I have recently tried using a GoPro with a gimbal and that has proven to be very smooth.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking here, but the horses in the video are all privately owned and were hauled to Monument Valley by their owners. The Navajos do have horses at the Valley and take tourists for rides, though you will not get into most of the areas you see in the video as they are too far to get to from where the rental horses are stationed.
The scale is quite a bit more immense than the camera can pick up.
