Hell yeah! People need to take responsibility for their own hearing and not complain to the creators that are making the videos that you want to watch. It's like watching How Ridiculous and expecting asmr, you knew what you were getting into before the video started
I have to say, I'm a huge fan of Ants Canada and was somewhat horrified when this video came up on my recommended list. HOWEVER, watching the video i see you're attacking invasive species only, so on that i take my hat off to you. Kudos.
Your narration is welcome, Nolan. Natural sounds are preferred, not music. Glad you put this casting back together, it's beautiful. Hope you get a good price for it.
I think you're an excellent, interesting, effective explainer who adds much value to your fascinating videos. I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for the fine offerings.
I had no interest in this type of video until the UA-cam algorithms suggested it. Now I'm here and a whole new world of sculpture has been introduced to me. Thanks UA-cam!
The narration is perfect. I'm happy to see you brazed the 2 pieces together to complete the cast. Beautiful work. I could recommend narrating more on the melting. We can all learn safer techniques this way. Great job!!!
Having lived in both Florida and Texas, both with fire ants.......... I applaud you. We moved out of the "glorious south" but still have scars on our feet, ankles and legs from fire ants. We gave them the boiling water treatment after we grew tired of spending 50.00 per month on poison. And boiling water is better for the environment.
Once, I accidentally stood on a fire ant hill while waiting on the school bus and I didn't notice anything until I looked down before I got on the bus and notice I was standing in the ant hill. I looked at my shoes and at my pants and I didn't see any ants at all so I thought oh I must be lucky. Man was I wrong those things were literally in my pants leg and in my shoe biting me up I had blisters all over my ankles and feet for days. I was smacking my legs and looking super crazy, until I pulled up my pants leg and showed the bus driver.
I’m from California but I had cousins who lived in Texas I suggest using gunpowder to blow their hiding holes up for some twisted reason but it worked ... especially solving the Hornet Nest Issues
Yep, made the mistake of going into my vegetable garden barefoot a few summers back; went in to hoe a bit. Was attacked by a colony of some kind of ant. Stinging sensations and swollen feet afterwards!
Keep the commentary! There are great insights that help visualize what's going on. When you mentioned that it was likely not smoke coming from the ant hill, it was likely steam, that helps us visualize what's happening as the aluminum makes its way through the wet soil tunnels. Great vid, keep it up!
Count me as another one that likes the narration. The only problem is the background sound covers your voice. A wireless mic should be your very next gear acquisition. It's not that hard to edit sound, depending on your software. And it will make it so we can hear what you're saying. And Merry Christmas!
My dog once found an anthill nest he didn’t know what it was and laid down sniffing the ants he didn’t mean any harm but a couple ants bit him on the stomach and he jumped up he began sniffing it again and an ant crawled up his nose and bit him he ran around the yard like a maniac until he shoved his face in the lake in our backyard thank you for getting revenge for him
Unfortunately, gamers having easy access to real smelters would just lead to "Pouring smelted metal on my head Challenge" or "Drink smelted metal Challenge"

I'm a biology nerd, artist, metal sculptor, welder, and all around metal worker, and I am in absolute awe of this hive! Ive seen this kind of thing done with other materials in huge hives on bbc docs, but this blew my mind today. Thanks!
i love hearing you explain what you are doing. thats so cool and i love the casts when they are finished. i wish it was possible to see inside the ant hill as the cast sets. that would be awesome too
yes, please explain even MORE of what you're doing. your voice and manners are not bothersome or distracting at all. like me when i am working the commentary helps me to think about what i am doing been as a writer and critical thinker. your work is very good and informative. thanks, arthur (Ngai)
Might I add, making a sort of mini series where you fix broken casts could breathe some extra life into the channel, and, perhaps make your casting channel a bit unique from others.
I wonder what a termite mound would look like, and boy I'd love to do this to the white ants in Brisbane, I'm convinced that the hills of Brisbane are really just massive ant hills
I really enjoy the narrative ...there's nothing like watching, and listening, to another person work. It reminds me of a lazy Sunday afternoon in the 70s, listening to my parents moving rocks around in the garden ...peaceful, constructive problem solving.
Very interesting vid man. I'd never thought about anything like this. Very unique & I like the narrating for those of us who don't have any idea what you're working on. Keep up the great work!
I love the commentary, definitely keep it. My only suggestions would be to include some form of scale when showing the final piece. It would help us understand the size of the anthill if you included something most people know, like money, fruit, soda cans or bottles, things like that. As well as improving sound quality as other viewers have suggested, but that's not something I know much about so I can't be picky lol
I am so glad you decided to put it back together. Don't get me wrong, either way it looks good but as one larger piece, it looks amazing! MERRY CHRISTMAS/HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. 🎅
I happened to stumble onto your channel a few hours ago. I think I have overdosed on your art tonight! I never heard of anthill casting, and I knew nothing about nasty fire ants. This is awesome and I’m looking forward to many evenings with your craft. Of course, I subscribed. I’m learning sooo much.
I like the narration. There may be viewers, such as myself, who have little to no experience with smelting. I enjoy the little step by step narration, it adds context to the actions.
Definitely keep the audio, I’m not all that familiar with the terms and how to do this. I do like watching what you do so it is educational for me. Thanks for posting these videos. Like prior comments say, people can mute if they choose..
All that "dross" you are removing actually is aluminum oxide. Even at room temperature, pure aluminum metal will oxidize instantly when exposed to air. As you remove the "dross" from the top surface of the melt with the burner off (i.e. with air at the surface of the crucible), you are just exposing more of your melt to air and creating more dross. To prevent this, put borax in the melt. It will melt and float on top of the molten aluminum, forming a barrier to the air and keeping most of the precious metal from oxidizing. When ready to pour, just pour it borax and all. The borax will float on top of the aluminum and not go down the hole(s), and you won't spend nearly as much time and aluminum on the dross.
Keep the oratory. If someone wants a "quiet" video they can turn the volume down. I like to hear what you have to say.
That's what I was going to say. 😂
Same here but ya beat me to it. 😄
Absolutely, narrate, narrate, narrate 😀

I had interest when i first saw an ant casting.
When you ask the kid who burns ants with a magnifying glass what he wants to be when he grows up.
Is that how you categories people, no wonder "Silent Kids that bring guns to school" is a trending category today🙄

nono. this is the kid who puts the ant in a small bit of gunpowder before using the magnifying glass.

Right there with you ! Had them in Florida and Texas. Now living in the Rocky mountains. Had enough of insects and floods.

Many ants were harmed in the filming. And that's the point of this exciting ant removal / natural work of art creation system.
