What are some behaviors or personality traits necessary to thrive abroad?
I would think possibly temper your expectations about some things your use to as it relates to where you come from.
@@ernestfulford2569 ah, yes. This is a good one. Thanks for sharing.
Don’t be shy but listen first
I moved to Paris about two months ago and all of these adjustments and changes are real. But I wouldn’t change it for the world!
Congratulations on your move!
Thanks for those words. I am French and I have lived for 10 years in the UK and mostly Australia, New Zealand.
It is great tell us about your experience, thank you.
Bonne continuation en France!
You are welcome. Ten years, you are a pro! You could tell me a thing or two. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I love the walking tours, Patricia.
Thanks. And thanks for watching.
Hello Patricia . Tell the Americans as much as possible how interesting it is to live in France . Have a great day ahead . ☀️☀️👑
Hello! I think a lot of us Americans already sense that living in France would be interesting. Bonne soirée !
Several comments: First, the audio sounds so vastly much better than in older videos. It's like you've set up a studio with good room acoustics. Good job! Second, walking tours FOR THE WIN! The architecture, landscape, and tiny physical details of southern France are very lovely and draw many of us in. Third, a suggestion. Have you considered re-framing some of your videos for broader appeal? Perhaps something like "A Life Coach Wanders through Perpignan"? 50% talking about the region, history, what you see, your favorite places, or whatever, and 50% about life coaching topics, switching back and forth every minute or two? You can record the video and then add your voiceover describing what you see later, at your convenience.
Good suggestions!
Agreed! There is *sooo* much potential here and it’s great to see these videos get better and better.
Thank you. I hadn't considered this. I'll have to chew on this and see how it could fit with my strategy.
What a beautiful walking tour 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's my pleasure.
"Nothing ventured, Nothing gained."--Patricia's Uncle. I love this profound quote. ❤ 😊
Yes, I know Uncle Bob is smiling down knowing he's impacted not only me but whoever hears me tell that story.
AUDENTES FORTUNA ADIUVAT
"Fortune favors the bold."
I have serious hermit tendencies so my challenge will be to find ways to build community-not a large one but a friend or three would be lovely 😊
Yes, I had to set the intention that I would join meetup (onvasortir) events in the beginning and push myself. Now I have a small friend group that is golden. Best wishes.
❤ moi aussi!
Excellent message on perspective and attitude - Your current circumstances aren't forever and you can change them.
Thank you. That's it in a nutshell. Thank you for watching. 🙂
Your city is so beautiful😊. I would add that a natural curiosity about people, places and cultures is a good personality trait that can help a person thrive abroad.
This is one village away. And yes it is lovely. Curiosity is very important. Thanks for sharing.
I really appreciate the time you take to share your experience with us on the internet.
I am miserable in my current situation and have felt for a very long time that all signs were pointing to a big move like this being key. Maybe one day I can make it happen.
You are welcome. Shaking things up could be a solution. Be sure to consider multiple options for improving your situation and if a move abroad rises to the top then perhaps it's right for you. Best wishes on whatever change you choose.
Bonjour, Patricia.🙋🏽♀️💐 Ditto to what many commenters have shared about loving your walking tours and driving tours plus the stills.
Thank you for your very motivating content. Bonne journée.❤❤❤❤
Thank you. So glad you are enjoying this content.
wow!! I love the tour, great information. I like getting a good sense of what your town looks like, pretty cool
So glad you enjoyed this. This is a neighboring town Saint-Jean-Pla-de-Corts. Thanks for watching.
Bonjour Patricia
I am very happy to have found your channel. I live in Montreal, Quebec, and think about to retire in France in a few year. So, speaking french is not a problem for me, but leaving Canada may be one. Previously, I have lived in France and still have family and some friends there. Even then, it would not be an easy move. I have spent more years in Canada than in France, all my adult life is here. And thanks for the walking tour.
Making a move such as this can be daunting. Digging down deep into your why and your core values and beliefs to find out if this kind of move is right for you is a good place to start. I wish you all the best with your decison.
❤ Love the walking tour with your coaching voiceover. Wise spiritual teachers say, "Wherever you go, there you are." and so I've always kept this in mind as I make big geographical moves. I have found the most important way to thrive anywhere is to keep my inner work strong and ongoing. I love how you adopted your uncle's Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained mindset, Patricia! All of what you share here is so valuable, for an international move or a move ANYWHERE. I probably experienced more culture shock moving from the city of Chicago to Marin county, California, than I did to moving to Mexico after that. 😂
Oh, I'm so glad you enjoyed this. You are right, wherever you go there you are. It's such a good idea to keep your inner work up for life in general. You never know when that curve ball is coming. 😏 Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts here.
@@PatriciaBrooksCourageCatalyst I'm sure I'll be booking a session with you! For my move from Mexico to France!
Love this video Patricia! Thank You!
Hi Veronica! Glad you liked it.😀
I like the new format of walking around footage mixed with static shots. All good points. The hardest for me will be/is having a curious mindset when seeing things done in a very different less efficient way. I commend the concept but practicing it isn't so easy for me.
Yes, when you've seen things be more efficient elsewhere, it can be very frustrating. You gotta take the good with the bad. The bonus is that patience is tested and mine has improved.😉
Love the info. Love the walk. Thank you.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it!
All great points!
Thank you!
Being open minded and flexible are great advice. Yes, curiousity can allow you to learn and get assimilated in the culture. I hope to make the move to Italy in the future. In the meantime, learning the language, paying off debts, and savings. Tfs
Curiosity, yes! Plan you work and work your plan! Best wishes with you move!
Love the videos - moved to near Marseille - am loving it. Thanks for sharing all this helpful stuff.
Thank you! Congratulations on your move.
Bonjour Patricia I love your channel.
Bonjour, @Jess-A. Merci !
Inspiring video!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Hi Patricia,
What is the cost of your consultation service? I’ve been watching beaucoup videos and I think you have to have French minimum wage approximately $1300/month to apply for long term resident visa as well as a year of insurance. I will have that upon retirement. March 2026 is my latest date to retire or could be sooner, if I choose to go before then. Anyway, I’m seriously considering it and feel a bit intimidated or unsure about my age and fitness level (one I can change, one I cannot). Anyway, love your sentiments and love of the French language. Me too!
Jodie
I believe it's more that now. www.welcometofrance.com/en/increase-of-the-minimum-wage-smic-on-january-1-2024 I offer a complimentary session to determine what might be the right program and discuss pricing then. Please check your email as I need to reschedule with you. Thanks.
Thank you so much Patricia-I enjoyed the walking tour, and your wise uncle gave his blessing by saying nothing ventured nothing gained-a brilliant thinker!
You are welcome so glad yo enjoyed this. And that I could share my uncles insights. Thanks for watching.
Great content, PB! who's the gent in the thumbnail?
Oh, he is a good friend I met here during my first year in France.
Thank you so much for this informative video. I would like to ask you what the minimum bank statement balance is required in order to apply for a long stay visa? What is the cost of living in your town including accommodation?
You are welcome. You might find these links helpful. www.axa-schengen.com/en/schengen-visa/means-of-subsistence. www.seloger.com/immobilier/66/pyrenees-orientales.htm
Very nice place. and so true you need to like yourself ,know yourself. i was thinking also to go to french. but i dont know if i am dreaming. iam learning french but not constantly. Where did you learn your french?
France is lovely. What about France draws you to it? I studied with the Pimsleur Method initially, then when I got to France I took a French class. Here is a link if you are interested. imp.i271380.net/7mZnWr
Thanks Patricia for this video. I would love to move to Paris within a year. Not sure if that's realistic but my family and friends think it is. They are wondering why do I keep putting it off and haven't moved sooner. I want to be able to figure out and create a business to sustain myself. That's my main concern. Wow that's a fat cat 😂
Wonderful. The fact that you know that you want to start a business before you move is great. Get started with the business now, if possible. Bringing in money before moving abroad will give you confidence. I did it the opposite way.😅
I looked up the population of Ceret to see what size town you felt comfortable in: 7,785 although that may be dated. Do you feel you are more known in a town this size, or that it is easier to navigate?
Definitely a small village with a small town feel, though it is quite lively in the spring and summer. Very easy to navigate (no getting lost here) and there is a free shuttle that carts people to areas on the outskirts.
I am curious about that threshold of savings that you did not want to go below,...which made you nervous about keeping this dream going. Without giving any amounts,...did you have like 1 year of saving remaining? 2 years?
About 18 months worth. So enough, but a scarcity mindset is hard to change.
