    Since the making of my video @theshiplife has acknowledge the misunderstanding of what @traveljoy really is. The point of my video is to educate as I always do when it comes to this industry and share my opinion on the entire situation! 😊

    First, I want to say is I've been on many cruises and I use a very positive professional TA who is great. In this case what we don't know is the experience level of the clients (the two sisters in particular) regarding the cruise booking process and all it entails. That being said the TA should have kept her clients informed and been more proactive if they were less experienced. My biggest problem with the TA is she knew the reservations had been cancelled more than a month prior to departure, so if that was the case, why didn't she notify her clients and refund their money? The fact that she allowed them to travel to Miami knowing full well they had no reservation was unconscionable and extremely unprofessional. She needs to refund their money ASAP.

      My point exactly that was glazed over, the Travel Agent knew 2 wks to a MONTH prior that 26 of HER customers didnt have a room and they would not bc is was a fully booked cruise. THAT IS THE MESSAGE THAT HE DID NOT ADDRESS.
      My frustration with TravelLife and his review of this situation is he took for granted that these people were not 1st time cruisers, or even tech savvy enuf to know n e thing about going online to check their confirmation. NOT EVERYONE KNOW TO GO TO UA-cam. He tried to put the blame on the customers when he didnt know their level of experience. Not everyone is tech savvy or internet savvy or even cruise savvy enuf to know n e thing about cruising, i know i didnt my 1st cruise i was like a baby soaking up thinhs as i went along.
      The fact that she knew well enough time that they didnt have a room is nobody responsibility but the TRAVEL AGENT not Carnival but the travel agent. Which made me believe until this went viral she had no plans of doing right by them

    Basically that agent saying payment is tied up etc is lying. Travel joy didn’t take anything. She did.

    The problem here is the disrespectful lack of communication from T.A to Client and what could appear as the misuse of Client funds.13 years in the biz blown away by this action.

    As a former Group Coordinator of Norwegian Cruise line I do not use travel agents, this situation occurred a few times in my 5 year tenure with them. Its sad some people are unprofessional and unethical. She didn't refund them because what deposit was paid was most likely taken in penalties for lack of final payment and she didn't want to refund them out of her pocket. If she dropped the ball she should've spoke up before those folks got to Miami. I feel bad for the other members whos reservations were paid with documents and they chose to stay back with their friends and family this is certainly a mess that could've been avoided, and the receipt that was shown in Ship life's video wasnt even from Carnival. The cruisers also should've been on top of their reservation(s) as well.

    If you use a travel agent or book directly, you will get confirmations of the booking, payment confirmations, and final payment confirmations (due 90 days prior, at least) from the cruiseline and in addition, your agent communications. You have to go online, yourself, to check into your cruise. You should have already created a CCL account or able to look up your reservation on the cruiseline website to book excursions, buy extras like drink packages, etc.
    If you don't make final payment by due due or check in by that due date, the cruiseline can cancel you and rebook to someone else. You should alreadyhave printed out your boarding docs or at least have them in your app before you arrive at the port. I make up a travel folder for everything including my docs, copy of final payment confirmation, itinerary, hotel confirmation, etc.
    The travel agent is at 100% at fault and selfish, but so are the cruisers bc they have a duty to practice their own due diligence. How do you go thru life without receipts? That's laziness, IMO. That behavior opens the door to being scammed. Don't be a willing fool.

    I have traveled many times w/Carnival. This past Feb was the only time I had an issue. I planned on Vista that was coming out of dry dock. The ship wasn't going to be back in time for our sailings. I was going with a group and a travel agent planned it all. Carnival not only informed the travel agent but the individual travelers as well to inform us that the ship wasn't going to be back in time and that we would get OBC (On Board Credit) and compensated for the one day that we were going to miss. So, my questions is did they not provide their email address for their account? Even though I went via a TA I could log onto the website to view my account, how much I paid & owed, my room #, mind you that's where you go to print your print your documents & check in. I know it was the two (2) first time, was it the first time for the rest of the 48? I just have so many questions about this fiasco that I wouldn't wish on my worse enemy.

    I agree with you, I love my travel agent, for our first cruise last October she would send us email on our payments and even when I trouble making the last payment she got us an extension, we got confirmation number and when on line 2 weeks before the cruise to set our arrival time and everything else

    There were balls dropped on both sides. Travelers should have always confirmed everything from the start of booking to the final payment. Where were these customers' confirmation \ booking numbers? As an agent did she follow up and keep her customers informed (NOPE)... Action speaks louder than words.

    If Carnival did have the travellers info in the first place, they too should have received an email from Carnival advising the customers plus the agent. I’m not buying that these cabins were booked in the first place….

    I booked through a travel agent for a cruise and we are going in December of this year and we got a confirmation email almost immediately. and I have access to Carnival and can see my trip. I would not book with an agent who makes me wait until it’s close to my trip for my verification. And why didn’t she notify them. To me it’s her fault not Carnival. The moment she found out the trip was canceled she should have made a call and sent en email to her clients.
    Just my opinion

    Unfortunately some people don’t care about details and trust their agent but a good agent would provide them details whether they want it or not. I always detail it’s my clients, helping them understand the details…she failed to advise them in February the cabins were cancelled if this is true.

    Having been a travel agent I can see this from several sides. As a traveler, I would always be on top of my travel agent about several weeks prior, on how things were going, what was happening. There must have been some information a few days prior to the actual cruise date. It is a huge debacle and the customers could sue if they want. WOW! If this was a huge group travel, what a mess!

    • @CynthiaHiatt

      From my understanding, she had sent info in the beginning of March when she knew there were no cabins for these people. Poor customer service and shame on her for still going herself…I would be so upset if it was legit for my clients, i would feel right going.

    My guess is the TA over sold the cabins available to them and just dropped the ball one person not getting on is a failure by 100%
    Don’t agree let it be you

    If what you’re saying is true about travel Joy is true then what happened to their money and why did she say they were holding it? And if they don’t have it where was the peoples money?

    • @TheTravelBabeCEO
      @TheTravelBabeCEO  4 місяці тому

      What she did with the money has nothing to do with TravelJoy. TravelJoy only did whatever she told it to do.

    Why did Carnival cancel the reservations ?

    • @CryMeARiver63
      @CryMeARiver63 4 місяці тому

      If the final payment is not made 90 days prior to sailing date they will cancel your reservation. For longer cruises it can be up to 120 days before the cruise .

    • @Star-Boarder
      @Star-Boarder 4 місяці тому +1

      4 scenarios:
      1. Agent never actually booked them.
      2. Final payment not made by due date.
      CCL requires final payment 90 days prior to sail date which doesn't make sense with the February cancelation.
      3. Passengers didn't check in by due date. CCL requires all guests to check in starting 14 days up to midnight EST prior to sailing date. If not, you could be delayed or the cruiseline could rebook to last minute bookings.
      4. Not impossible but the cruiseline could overbook in error but the stories about cancelation in February make it not probable.
