Murray is so right! His collection and his creations are just right. The cars I was most disappointed when I once had the possibility to drive them were big, heavy cars with more than 500 hp; as BMW M5 or Nissan GTR. You have to drive fast. Very fast to savour them. On the straights.. Indeed, a light and nimble, agile car makes all the difference whilst driving them on public roads. Less mass, less breaks and tyres usage, much less fuel consumption. We can be very, very happy there are still (very few) cars available on the market, talking about "normal budget cars" . Many thanks to Mazda for the MX-5; many thanks to Toyota for the GR 86. Used for 5k: Mazda MX-5 or Fiat Barchetta. For 20k: Vauxhall Speedster (still looking totally fresh), and ouf course the Lotus Elise.

Brilliant piece. Such a charming talk with Gordon, despite being himself a big legend in motorsport history so on earth guy and humble in showing all his unfiltered love for automotive brilliancy from other designers. It is quite a common point all the greatest designers share. When I listen to interviews from Materazzi, Limone, Forghieri it's the same. It's about love for cars, to the point that it really does not matter who when and where did it.
    such unique cars btw.

Watching the Junior Zagatto in that spetacular Green, I could understand why I appreciate this car so much!! Man, that front portion of the car (and some other angles) somehow reminds me of my favorit car of all time.... the Alfa Romeo Carabo!!!!!
I'd love to hear Murray's impressions over the Carabo design!!!

I think you refer to the transverse rear engined cockpit design Scarabo prototype. I still have the 1/18 model since about 1967 when I was a teenager. Apart from the E type, my favourite car.

This is a beautiful collection. I loved this period of time in Italy and either owning or driving just every one of these cars. My friends and I all owned, 356, 911, Fiat Dino and my Alfa Romeo GTV, plus others. It was great to be in our early 20’s. Best part I made 400.00 per month and all these cars were very affordable. One of my friends bought a split window corvette for 700.00. I miss my cars and motorcycles of Italy.

Absolutely incredible what a Legend Mr. Murray is! Now I don't feel bad hoarding my 77' Oro Metalezato Lancia Scorpion and Zagato JPS Special Edition that's in pieces. Getting an MP4-12C would be a fitting ode to this brilliant designer.

Ι'm completely amazed by this collection of beauties, that only a man who won himself the name of the "automotive guru" in his legendary carrier in F1 races (and of course not only that) could appreciate and even today he's showing to us his lifetime philosophy as an artist in designing the greatest artifacts of a technical era. My sincere complements!
