A Stray Cat Followed Me Home | Meet Ollie the Cat

- Hi Friends!
I was on my way home on Sunday when this cute cat followed me back home from my car. It was freezing outside, so I decided to let him in for the night. I gave him food, water, and a safe place to sleep in. The following day, I let him back outside to see if he could find his way home (walked around the neighborhood with him for 30 minutes). He ended up just following me back to the house. Afterwards I brought him to the vet to check for a microchip and get a checkup to see if he's healthy. He did not have a microchip sadly.
After going through the necessary steps to determine if he was someones lost cat (checked for microchip, asked/went around the neighborhood, checked/used social media/Nextdoor app - the neighborhood app where people in our neighborhood post news/missing pets, and consulted the Vet), we have determined that he was an outside stray. He was not neutered, had a lot of fleas on him, multiple scars, and also had one large wound on his tail. He was also not litter box trained. Additionally, he was also spraying his urine (marking his territory) all throughout my house which indicated he was not an indoor cat (male cats marking their territory has a really strong putrid odor that most people cannot stand - it’s different than normal urine) It would have also (in my opinion) been irresponsible to leave an outdoor male cat not neutered if he did have an owner.
REMEMBER, This very short 5 minute video and description do not cover everything that I’ve done/everything that has happened. I made this video not expecting this many people to have watched it, so I didn’t include all the details or explain everything clearly. Even the description doesn’t encompass everything because it’s difficult to put 2+ months worth of information all into X amount of words. So please be respectful while commenting and don’t jump to any conclusions. I have no cruel or malicious intentions, and only want the best for Ollie. Additionally, I do understand what it’s like to lose a pet, and I do think of my pets as family. So I understand the concern people may have.
As of right now, I am keeping him! He has been administered all his shots, given flea medication, and has just been neutered! I will give him as much love as he will take, and provide a safe home and environment for him 😁

Edit: PLEASE read the description. My cat Tiger ran away for over a week when I was younger, So I understand how painful it is to lose a furry friend. Which is why I did try my very best to see if he did have an owner. Also, this is a very short video that does not show 100% of everything that happened. So please don’t jump to any conclusions. Just know that Ollie is safe, healthy, and being loved by my family.
Original comment: Thank you to everyone’s amazing and supportive words, it really means a lot to me. Just a little update on Ollie: he has been neutered and is flea free!! He is currently enjoying his time exploring the house, eating all the kitty kibble he can, snuggling up right next to me when I watch my shows, and occasionally playing with my other cat Mango. He is nice and healthy, and seems to enjoy living in his new home 😊 I’ll post another video in the future to show his new life with me!! Thank you all again for the support ❤️
UPDATE: New Ollie video is up!!! :D
Good job for bringing this kitty into your home. He is blessed to have found you. He spotted a kind soul.

What a beautiful sweet cat.
And you are a very sweet girl.
An angel. Bless you. ❤️😍
What a brilliant story and a beautiful cat he picked you that is amazing that you are going to keep him so happy I hate when cat's don't have a home.. olle is a brilliant name Luke isn't a cat name .... thank you for giving him a home...
Navigating Life he’s one of the most laid back Cats I’ve seen on here lol.
He knows you saved him.
Having a cat adopt you is one of the best things that can happen to a human.
Awww, So sweet and true!
A stray tabby adopted my family during the lock down.
I had the pleasure of experiencing this personally and it was amazing. Something I’ll never forget!
Unless you're allergic like me
They can be a pain in the ass tho 😂
When I was in college, I had a cat follow me home from the college campus. It showed up a few days later too, so I took him in. One of my room mates objected having the cat, so I asked my land lord if his daughter, who lost a cat the month before if his daughter wanted it. She was hesitant, because losing her last cat was painful, but finally decided to come and pick him up. The first words she said after she saw him was 'That's my cat'. She lived about 2/3's of a mile away from the campus. So, the cat that followed me home found his original owner.
That's a neat story!
so dope
That is an AMAZING Story. It really is. It proves that coincidence doesn't exist.
As a young lad, I had a cat that would disappear for days, even a week at the time. So etimes he’d come home “drunk”. . . We had a coup,e young bachelor guys living a few houses up the street. , .
Cool story, if it was true.
The cat in my picture showed up at my door and wouldnt.go away. I had him for 15 yrs. Best cat ever. Thank you for saving Ollie
Kool Kitties awwwww
Yes the one in this pic i had from the street as a kitten for 16years.
The cat in your pfp reminded me of the stray I took care of when I was a kid, she had a few kittens after a few months, she gave birth to three, tho she dissappeared a month later after that with her kittens
omg same but it has just been three months since i had her
Thats cool man
One day a cat appeared in front of my house, she stayed for a the day and explored all the rooms then she left. 2 weeks later she visited us again and decided to stay. Turns out she was abandoned by her former owners and lived on the streets for 3 years. She often chilled in my neighbours garden and watched us from a spot we couldn't see her (our neighbor told us). She inspected us if we would be good owners I guess. Now shes been with us for two years and I named her Max. I love her to death and couldn't imagine a life without her ♡
Awww that’s adorable. But also sad that the previous owners would abandon her instead of rehoming her.
Aww such a sweet story. I love how she observed you from garden she was cautiously choosing a good person to take care of her. So happy that you both have a happy on going life :). I would say ending but your and your fur babies life is on going :)
Max knew you were good people, and she's 1000% correct 💗💞💓💕💖 😻
Aww that so kind people who are like you help the world and animals around you.
-Cats really like tunnels
How'd you find out about all that?
That cat acts and looks like he was abandoned. He has that I'm not really feral or inclined to be feral look about him.
That was my thought as well. I was 'chosen' by a stray cat once. A beautiful almost pure Siamese. I took her to the vet to get her fixed only to discover she had a prominent scar line from where she'd already had the surgery. That was nearly thirty years ago. I still miss that cat.
The kitty I have now I found as a stray kitten living in a feral colony. She was being harassed by a tomcat; tom's will kill kittens, so I took her home. She was so flea riddled I could see them crawling on her; she is a black cat. Vet gave me some meds to take care of the fleas and I got her immunizations done. 17+ years later, she is still with me. :-)
@@GothicElf68 Most of my grandparents' cats were strays who just showed up one day and said, "I like it here. Now feed me." One was *definitely* a pet at some point before because he'd been declawed. I shudder to think what he had to go through before finding Grandpa that one day. He lived to be a *very* old gentleman cat.
@@brigidtheirish I'm glad he found your Grandpa. :-)
Though the same thing as well, it's ashame, he looks so cute.
@@GothicElf68, yes chosen. The best way. When going to a shelter, let them choose you. We adopted Mr. Groucho Jr. from the Animal Ark, and he was so grateful for bailing him out. He's now waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. Miss you so much Groucho Kitty.
Ollie: *Follows human home.*
Ollie: "Hmm, I like this one, I'm gonna keep her!"
SunflowerPink Kitty Clearly Ollie found his forever human!
My thoughts too!
Ollie: 'I m searching a mama human because it is how to live in town as a cat'
Hmm if another human does this they will call 911 😂
Nice comment
This cat won the lottery when he found you. He has his own space, his toys, and vet care and he has you. Have a great life.
No kidding. If I ever get lost and lose my chip, I hope I am treated so well :)
My first cat followed me home when I was a kid. I've been a cat servant ever since.
🙂👍
He's far too friendly to be a feral. He's clearly been around people before. I agree, he's likely abandoned. Bless you for taking him in.
He could literally be lost male cats roam a lot if they not neutured and get lost
The cats in my uni have similar behaviour, they don't have owners eat the food scraps (they love spicy chicken for some reason, they will only take a few bites of cat food when the canteen is not operating so there wasn't any food scraps available), they are feral but not their personality. People build cat food stations leave them treats from time to time, they will stare at you and walk away when they are not in the mood of having interactions with humans but when they want to they will ask for belly rub, sneak into room with their kittens to play.
@@newname3718 Are you me from a parallel universe?
@Christina Williams I thought this was somebody's pet, but it's in her neighborhood and if she doesn't see any posters, she probably would never find the owner. Cats can roam a surprising number of miles in a day, but given the sore and scars, this cat has been away for quite some time. Presumably abandoned.
@@newname3718 sounds like a semi feral colony.
You don't choose a cat, a cat chooses you.
Such a lovely baby!
Indeed. Cat love to human at first sight, more than obvious. Just like one of mine cat's reaction to me .Her sister had a different idea and tried to scare me away but in the end I won her over too. ;-) Ollie looks just like my little trouble maker but is as calm and cuddly as her bigger sister who considers me to be her favourite human of choice.
Harshit Verma in Soviet Russia you don't choose cat. Cats choose you
I agree and a beautiful cat
Thank you for taking in this sweet baby.
That’s how it should be! Agree indeed
this adult male cat was so desperate for a home that he was following people back.... he doesn't have a feral heart. such a gentle cat deserves to be in a home, thank you for giving him one ! 💗💖
Cat: *I chose you as my babysitter peasant*
Human: This stray cat followed me home
A dog has an owner. A cat has a staff.
Cat: Show me to my palace, hooman!
this hurt my heart. he was literally following ANYONE looking for a family. poor baby. i am SO GLAD that he was lucky enough to find someone as wonderful and loving as you to take him in
Facts
@David McCormick by that logic nobody should have any sympathy for you if you lose a limb tomorrow. someone else is probably getting murdered right now, now that's "real trouble".
Bruh when you word it like that-
@David McCormick Whatever your point is, it's irrelevant. No one is asking "How could this be worse?"
I am so happy he found a loving, gentle and thoughtful human. I had two Shorthair Tabbies, and I loved them deeply. Both rescues and my buddies. They respond to kindness and mine loved music and being part of the family. It's all how you raise them. Thank you, good Miss, for having a tender heart.
Step 1: -have hooman take me in and earn trust-
Step 2: map out house
Step 3: take over house
step 4: prepare for world domination!
QNFTy, yes I know. it is such a weird feline to see them taking over, and knowing that fur once we will have a purrfect planet! alright, I'll just hiss off!! I'm just kitten!
IKR! 😁

My cat already conquered my house and the neighborhood
That is the loveliest, calmest, most good natured cat I’ve ever seen. The way he just sat on your lap during the car ride, and how he let you shower him!! My god, that is a super-calm cat!
And Ollie is a beautiful name ❤️
Absolutely, Maya, and the touching part is that he seems like a tough cookie when you see him for the first time, but actually behaves very gently
Must have been someone's pet
Not only is Ollie one of the nicest cats, you also happen to be one of the few, and of those few, most responsible cat owners I know. This entire endeavor of yours to ensure his well-being proves a kind of dedication not often seen today. My salutations.
this is basically how i ended up with a cat. She kept following me and was like "you're mine human"

This is pretty much a textbook example of how to handle a friendly stray cat. Love your work.
Having a cat that will ride in a car is just too cool.
My first cat was nutered but still sprayed until I caught him in the act then he never sprayed again.
I had a cat come up to me while I was doing an oil change on my car. He chilled with me under the car until I finished, then he invited himself into my house. He's been with for three years and he's the nicest cat I've ever met!
oh my, bruh!!!!

I got my cat Jellybone when my neighbors moved out and abandoned him. It was the nicest gift I have gotten in a long time. I've had him now for several years and he is a joy to have around and a great companion for my girl cat, Oreo. It's certainly nice when you can rescue one of these little guys and give them a home where they are loved and appreciated.
🌸Not only is Ollie safe, but, because he was unnuetered, a cat colony could have begun, which results in so much suffering. Nice video! 🌸Thank-You! 🌸
Yeah, that is not a stray. That cat is well-socialised with humans and comfortable being manipulated. My guess is he's either lost or more likely abandoned. Good on you for giving him a new home.
Lost is my first impression too
Isn’t that what a stray is? An abandoned or lost cat?
@@rein9e
I tend to interpret the word more as "feral," but fair point.
Why wouldn't his owners just drop him off at a shelter? Possible his previous owner died .
@@rein9e ~ I tend to think of a stray cat as one you cannot touch, a 'wild' one, this kitty had a nice owner before, I believe he's 'lost' myself but the previous owner didn't bother to have him neutered or micro-chipped so it's their loss 😞
This cat was 100% abandoned by somebody. So glad he found you💛
He could be lost too!! This cat is in very good shape.
A bookworm Who is also a breathing human all that fleas and scars indicate is that its owners let it outside. It’s obviously not a stray since it’s not afraid of humans. And since it’s such a nice gentle cat that means it came from a good home. And if it came from a good home than why would they abandon their cat?
My bf had a cat constantly following him home 8 days in a row and he finally took it in
Evidently a slow learner.
I am smiling from ear to ear watching this vid. From her calm voice to the way she took such great care of him, the is such a sweet story! Thank you for loving Ollie : )
Sometimes cats pick the person. It sounds like he was abandoned. Not a feral cat at all.
he did mark his territory like a feral cat does though.
@@colorbar.s he probably just came from a family who couldn't afford to neuter him, and eventually had to abandon him for some reason or other
This is FAR from a feral cat
Cats ALWAYS pick the people
Yeah my daughter 'invited in' a stray; the complex cat had been mooching off of all the residents for months but she picked my house. Turns out her former owner and the cat lived in my complex for at least a decade, but the man became terminally ill and had to go into hospice so naturally he could not being the cat.
This cat is so well behaved! He must've been owned by someone else and got abandoned or he simply got lost. Thank you for taking him in.
Ollie has been very well behaved since day 1. He’s an absolute angel 😊
I agree, he knows that humans can be good and knows living inside is comfortable, so he must have been raised tame, so it's great he's got a place with humans again.
Yeah I was thinking the same... Also, he doesn't look like he's been outside for a very long time -i.e. pretty much in shape, doesn't look underweight and the fur still looks good... He probably got lost while travelling with his old parents? Glad you two met, though!
Did you miss the part where he was pissing on the floor???

Very nice video. I was adopted by a stray cat, a few years ago. She made it into our garage one very cold night in January, very, very hungry. I could see and feel every bone in her body. Thought I would need to find her a home, as I’m extremely allergic to cats, but amazingly, I’m not allergic to her; I call her my magic kitty. She’s sweet as can be, follows me all around the house and loves to sleep in “Daddy’s” lap, while he’s reading and she gets along pretty good with both of our Australian Shepherd’s, too. I feel lucky to have been “adopted.”
Makes me sad to watch this video.. Ollie looks a lot like my sweetheart.. but he died three years, two months and one day ago.. 😢
I still miss him very much...
The poor thing was so eager to make a connection with a human. He's so lucky he found you 😭
I lost my cat a few years ago. He looks like yours, minus the white paws. Unfortunately, he was not chipped. He was so adorable and friendly, and I spent months searching. I like to imagine that he was found by someone like you, and is living fat and happy with another family somewhere. Thank you for the video.
· zoobster · there's no pain like that of losing a cat
When I had to go for a week to another city and went to leave my cat to my brother’s house we misplaced the cat. He ended up hiding underneath the bowl of the w.c in the bathroom (where we put him to begin with). I panicked thinking he runaway somehow I started crying while my brother was looking for him. My dad ended up finding him u.u. It’s horrible thinking you lost your cat, I sympathize 💔
When I lived in an apartment complex a really friendly cat walked up to me and since it was cold I let him stay. He liked to stay outside alot of the time so when I had to move he hadn't been home for weeks and he had to stay. I hope the other tenants are taking care of him.
· zoobster · you're probably right HE WAS ADOPTED AND HAS LOVE AND A GOOD LIFE NOW

Hi.. I'd just like to say that you have a very pleasant voice for narrating. The name of your channel is very cleaver. I'd like to start one but haven't a clue of what to call it.
Thank you for giving Ollie a loving home. I'm cat crazy myself. I never stop learning something new about felines. They are truely amazing regal creatures. A lot of people have given cats a bad wrap. If they took the time to get to know them they'd probably change their mind. Life is so hard for strays and they don't live long either.
Watching Ollie when you took him outside he definitely acted like he was lost and in strange surroundings. I think someone has just dumped him off in your neighborhood. It's a cruel and heartless thing to do to abandon your pet. It's a cowards way out of dealing with responsibility. Cats do choose their human. Ollie knew you were loving and kind. God bless you and also your parents for taking him in.
We need more people like you on this planet !!!!
That is one chill cat!! He acts like he’s known you his whole life & it’s just another day hanging out w/you.
I'agree, like he knew her his whole life ☺️🐈 beautiful cat.
Cute cat on your profile picture
This is a really cute and inspiring video! You’re Showing a good example to everyone out there to help others wether it’s humans or animals! You are so warm hearted and such a good person. Good job for helping the cat! This is a very nice and good video :)
Thank you so much for your sweet words. Hopefully he enjoys his new home a lot more than being outside!
Stop eating meat then.
Saeed Qanei me eating meat has nothing to do with the comment I said
@@lillylonglegs8580 If you wanna "help" animals then that meat you eat comes from killing innocent cows and pigs. Either stop eating meat, or stop saying corny things about animals. How would you feel if I killed a cat, slathered it, cooked it and ate it?! What is the difference?
@@SaeedAcronia that is an idiotic thing to say............................are you saying you have pigs and cows as house pets.....that snuggle up to you at night?
Oh! He's a Purr-O-Matic! His purr is veey loud! He's very happy with his current situation.
This cat and this entire video is the most adorable thing. ❤️❤️
He has the sweetest temperament!
You’re so lucky that he landed on your doorstep and him lucky to have found you.
"I am home human, you're so silly." -cat.
Grey & black tabby combined with white.
That's the assertive and spicy kind.
With a strong hunting drive.
Also rather affectionate and loyal.
Especially the males.
Once neutered he will be more easy going.
You've made a friend for years.
Thank you for taking him in, he's really beautiful especially with those little socks of white on his legs.
Thank you so much for saving him. That's how my 1st cat found me. She met me on the day of my dad's funeral. I was outside of my building and she just came up to me. When I went in the building she came in and she went straight to my apt without me showing her. She is the best ever.🤗
jonesy love THERE YOU GO ! CAME INTO YOUR LIFE AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME TO COMFORT YOU AT A DIFFICULT TIME MY CAT USE TO LITERALLY LICK THE TEARS OFF MY FACE WHEN I'D START CRYING BECAUSE MY SISTERS DEATH. SAME WITH MY CHIHUAHUA THEY WOULD JUST SIT WITH ME AND SNUGGLE WITH ME ONE ON EACH SIDE IT WAS SWEET AND I LOVE BOTH MY CATS AND CHI SI THERAPEUTIC !
jonesy love
Game changer.....you didn't find the cat...He found you ! Well done, good for you.
One day she will understand that..he found her...a reason and a season....
Good to know that Ollie is safe and healthy and happy. Thanks to a good person such as you.
It was really nice of you to take Ollie in and look after him. His personality is a lot like my Dusty. Same colors, though she has wider black markings on her side and the only white she has is by her nose and under her chin. She even likes to ride in cars without meowing. She was a rescue from the Humane Society, where she chose me. We are both lucky that the cats we have chose us. It will make the relationship a lot closer since Ollie and Dusty started out with affection for us and that will only grow. Enjoy Ollie.
Good choice!! NEVER pass up an animal in need! Bless YOUR HUGE heart!!
No normal streetwise cat is that friendly. I'd say he was left behind when someone moved or he got out while they were moving and he hid and they couldnt find him. The other possibility is that someone drove him to the neighborhood and threw him out.
He's very friendly, wasn't skinny, and only had relatively minor issues that an indoor cat will run into when stuck outdoors.
Expect problems when he goes to be neutered. He will come home very l8kely without the scent your other cats have gotten used to. Cats identify by scent not visual. He will have meds put on him for surgery that over power his scent and he will pick up others animal scents from the vet. So when he comes home they may think hes an outsider. Very normal happens all the time and wears offin a few days. Or you can take a hand towel and wipe down Ollie then rub the towel on the other two cats. Rub down transfers scents so they all wind up smelling like each other and less freaking out.
His attitude is more of an indication than his weight. My cat will go days, even a week without me feeding him and he's a chubby little guy from all the hunting he does. Then again, we live on a farm.
Good advice with the scent thing.
Oh sweetie! I watched you two 4 yrs ago all the way up to when yous moved into your own apt and were decorating your Christmas tree! I just stumbled onto this video now & am shocked & delightfully surprised to see how many views you are at !😮 And deservedly so! You know how sweet, gentle and loving Ollie is ? 🐱💞...well my dear you are the exact same. Hope all is well with you both and may you have a long loving life together! ❤❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🐈🐈⬛🐱💝🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Most likely not been physically abused but very neglected and abandoned. Hence why he has that nervous exploratory quirk about him.
Or.... not a cat... how can he be ok with being sprayed by water? :P
Outdoor cats are much more tolerant of water. Plus a shower might feel similar to a heavy rainstorm.
Lots of cats are ok with water, it really just depends on how its introduced to them and their personality. My cat LOVES it when i put some water in the bathroom sink for him to put his head under the faucet and drink
My cat just sits there and meows when we bath him. The only cat I have had that doesn't fight for its life during bathtime.
Years ago I had adopted a stray cat and he would sometimes jump into the shower with my boyfriend. Awesome kitty. And he wasn't scared of the vacuum either!
