You and your family have prayers from my family and I. Logging is a rough and tough career. Your pop has a lot of experience under his belt. I’d be sure to listen to everything he says with an open mind. There’s a lot of knowledge coming from him. Anyhow take care keep your head on a swivel.
I apologize if I missed it scanning through your older videos. I am wanting to learn how to best sell the logs once I have them down and loaded. I have lived in Tennessee 19 years but do not have the accent. It seems to make a difference in doing business. I pay too much for most services and am worried about getting a lower price for my timber. A video describing how to best shop mills to sell to would be very helpful. I have about 30 acres of hardwoods I have not cut yet. Currently I am doing mostly cedars that are leaning after the storms and then some big pines. After that I will get to the hardwood. The mill that does white oak for Jack Daniel barrels is about 5 miles away from me so I assume they may be the best place for the white oak but still have no way to be sure if I am getting a good price for it. I am working mostly alone with a Ferguson TO30, 18" car trailer, and some Stihl saws.
Greetings from the great white north🇨🇦. You might try a pair of falling wedges, drive them in about 3/4 way through your cut, it should hold the pressure and let you finish your cut
Imagine how much Help it would be if that equipment was being used to gather and remove Tree's and Debris thats down in the Hurricane effected area's..opening roads and paths to locate folks in the hills that nobody's seen or heard from yet due to the inability to get to them... just something to think about.. sometimes making a dollar needs to take a back seat to safety and well being of Human lives..and YES i've worked in the logging industry and YES i've Helped after Natural disasters, Many Hours and Miles away from My Home at the time..

On all of our skidders we had double diamond ice chains on all four tires. We got good protection on the tires. And it pulled very well. But I guess down south where y’all are you don’t get much ice and snow like we got up there in New England when I was logging up there. Anyhow, Tommy, you know what it is when them trees jump right off the stump. I try to tell people that when you’re chopping on the hill like thattrees jump right off that stump it’s pretty impressive when you watch it
I really enjoy watching these videos. I also log and it has been wet where we are. I actually don’t live to far from you. Probably about a hour or two away. I have a channel to if you want to check it out. Keep up the good work.
Looking for someone with knowledge to answer this, please. I live in Pennsylvania with a view of the woods which is a conservation area. my douche bag, neighbor decided that he was going to have somebody go in and Cut down a lot of the trees. So they cut them down and left all of the limbs of about 20+ huge trees piled up. If the idea is to have the smaller trees grow, how are they gonna grow back when there’s huge piles of limbs everywhere??? That looks like shit btw!!! Is this the correct thing to do???? it seems like a HUGE fire hazard next to my house. Thank you 💖
I would say thats a really shitty way of leaving branchs but it will rot over time and the grounds just gonna have a bunch of branches so when the new trees do grow its gonna be a mess to cut them again. Unless your neighbor plans on cutting it all up for wood then that will help but really its just a huge mess
Clear cut logging in the spring, you’re killing hundreds of baby animals dying the most horrible death you can imagine. Some starve to death. There’s a hundred ways to die a horrible death. That have nests in the trees. Flying squirrels, fox squirrels, black squirrels in the South delta. And wiping out habitat for dozens of animals. I can’t imagine how they can sleep at night.
I’ve been logging my downed trees too. Stay safe men 👍🏻🇺🇸
Stay safe as well!
I apologize for the technical difficulties last night! Me and technology don’t mix well!
That's OK, I am way worse than you!!

Thanks very much for your reply. The whole thing has been really distasteful. Regardless - the results WILL SERVE me. 🍁💖
Do y'all still do firewood?
Only for ourselves pretty much
I’m sorry to say. I used to cut that way. Before I learned how to cut timber. NEVER MAKE YOUR BOTTOM CUT DEEPER THAN YOUR NOTCH.
@@georgehoff8909 glad your an expert. Make you a channel and teach us sometime on a video. Look forward to watching it 👍🏼
