He doesn’t have to be objective. He’s the commentator for people watching in the U.K., not the world.
That's how we tend to roll. By all means express disappointment if the "home" side loses, but don't pretend you're better when you're not, and give credit to the opposition when they do well. Nobody could claim with a straight face that England were better than Italy that day.

@@andrab.14 I think that match England just played very defensively deliberately after going 1-0 up, whereas in the 2012 match England had no tactics at all, just parking the bus, the only reason Italy didn't score 2 or 3 goals in the Euro 2012 match was due to John Terry's defending (one of the only players who was actually good for England that tournament).

I have a massive respect for him as he came back after that bad injury and kept working not caring about the jokes people made on him

I don’t think you lot relize how much confidence it takes to be a penalty down in a euro semi finals and chip it down the middle, Pirlo was a one of the most underrated midfielders to play the game for sure.
It does and he was. Combined with identifying it as actually the best choice because Joe Hart was diving to either side early. So even though risky, it was the best option.

Whereas chips for quick diving keepers avoid that. I prefer hammers to the sides for keepers that dive slow or often remain central.

I have come to this shootout just to see how the penalties played out and i was stunned to see that everything went in the same order as yesterday except the end coz Jorginho missed what would have been the winning penalty but England missed the next one anyway. Seriously this is crazy coincidence. Italy missed their second kick in both shootouts and then Englands first miss was by the third taker and in both shootouts the player hit the woodwork. The fourth penalty from England was again missed in both shootouts but this time the penalties were saved by a man named Gianluigi diving to his left.
