It's not really his fault. Apparently, the countless spells used to ressurect him have got a curse that bends him to the will of the people that ressurect him. And since the will of those people is to fulfill Dracula's wish of destroying mankind, Dracula, at the same time he commands them, is also forced to maintain his wish of destroying humanity. That's why, even after regreting his sins in "Castlevania: Symphony of the night", he still comes back as the bad guy.
So, lesson #1 of training badass vampire hunters: Always have only one disciple. If there are two, one of them will inevitably become a jealous rival and succumb to Dracula's influence.

I know its a 3-month reply but Alucard not doing it makes sense. The first time made him go into exile and he was going to do it again----if not for Maria. Maria, being very empathetic towards Alucard, probably knew more than anyone that if Alucard continuously kept killing his father, he might go mad with grief. So she probably opted out and decided it was best to just be by Alucard's side until she could finally convince him to fight by the side of humanity (instead of simply live next to them). And I bring this up (though I don't recall if this is canon), there is a side story called : Castlevania: Nocturne of Recollection Which does go into detail, pretty much stating he is still emotionally damaged/withdrawn. At the end of the story, it took Maria nearly dying for Alucard to actually show some type of concern. So---Nearly dying is the only thing that made Alucard show some concern. So imagine how long that probably took for him to be convinced to fight for humanity in the future games. The only thing that upsets me and I don't recall any information that states otherwise, is that we don't know when exactly Maria died (or if she did? I only state this as a possibility because of her connection with magic and herself living with Alucard for so long)
It is part of my headcanon that Dracula accepted death, way back in Castlevania 3, and all that is left is just his curse, that will torment humanity and an eternal battle against the Belmont

The first two videos were great, but finding out that not only is Bram Stoker’s Dracula canon in Castlevania, but WWI and II are as well, and all are of relatively large importance to the story is just icing on the cake. All that searching for supernatural relics the Nazis did and friggin Dracula was literally living next door the whole time. Amazing.
I love how you've used the clips from the Frank Copolla movie for Quincy Morris. The fact that that movie was one of the few adaptions to feature him is one of the reasons why I love that movie. Few people are aware that an American helped killed Dracula.
@John doue Quebec In the game portrait of ruin there is an incredibly difficult boss fight Jonathon must go through to activate the Vampire killers true strength. To do this Jonathan has to defeat the last wielder of the whip, Richter. This bossfight was notoriously difficult but Richter had a weakness to dark damage. Creampie was a special attack Jonathan could unlock that did large amounts of dark damage, and so Cream pie was his 'Greatest weakness'

Honestly, you're interpretation and explanation of Castlevania makes more sense. I've read some of the articles online trying to explain everything in a chronological fashion, and it doesn't make sense and there's gaps in the storyline, (one place I've read about the storyline is Wikia). I also don't agree with the N64 games not being included in canon, to me, these games should fit and make sense in the storyline. Thank you for your contribution! You're awesome!
I like to think that every time Dracula was resurrected after symphony of the night he was having a nice moment with Lisa in the afterlife and he gets pulled back and he’s just super annoyed about it
I never really played too many of these games but Simon and Richter being added to Smash Bros Ultimate made me want to learn the story and lore. Great videos, I'm loving them.
Why does Dracula keep fighting after the events of symphony of the night? I suppose I can excuse the events that involved the dominus, as presumably the order was fully responsible for the actions of the monsters and reviving Dracula, after which it was only natural that he would defend himself as he still has his vendetta against God, but you'd think he'd at least not come back on his own volition, or if he did that no one would know it since he no longer wishes to seek revenge upon humanity.
I figure by that point, "Mathias" doesn't really exist any more, but Dracula's soul keeps getting brought back by Chaos, since he's the Dark Lord. The person who loved Lisa is gone, and Dracula doesn't really have control over his own actions any more. Or maybe Konami just wanted more sequels.
I figured that Dracula got less and less "human" by each resurrection. That's why his Ultimate form always changes. It could also serve as a reason as to why death can be killed yet return, and is always bound to Dracula. Every resurrection changes Dracula, which serves as the anchor for Death to the mortal plain. Thus, Death's form and power changes depending on Dracula's state.
In my head, I imagine the interlude between OoE and CotM like that: Despite her victory over Dracula, Shanoa decided to live out of society because of the power of Dominus still dormant in her: having ended up being afraid of the same power that allowed her to defeat Dracula, but also caused the loss of her adoptive brother, she didn't want this power to lead to the eventual death of others if she lost her control. But after hearing of a Dracula resurrection, she went to investigate and met Morris Baldwin and Nathan Graves' parents. They pursuing the same goal, so Shanoa proposed their help, which they accepted. After many events, they managed to reach Dracula, but despite their combined powers, they failed to stand up to him. Sensing that the fight would be lost, Shanoa resigned herself to reuse Dominus, sacrificing her life to save Morris -- Nathan's parents having lost their lives during the battle. Before she breathed her last breath, she told Morris that wearing Dominus for many years was terribly unbearable, and that she had sought a way to get rid of it, in vain. But she was also afraid that humanity would be defenseless if Dracula were to return, so she had decided to find someone who could resume the fight against Dracula, pending the return of the Belmonts. She seeing Morris as the one who she was looking for. Devastated by the death of his friends and Shanoa's sacrifice, Morris promised to respect Shanoa's last will and take Nathan under his wing to replace the Belmonts in the fight against Dracula.
Your videos has such detail and quality that I would absolutely LOVE to see a series like this for franchises like Megaman or Metroid, really good joob dude now in my bucket list I have to play every single one of the games in the correct order just because it would feel so great.
Depends which section of the megaman timeline you would look since classic would get a bit more expanded and confused, X while there hasn't been a 9, it's the existence of the Zero segment that causes issues in determining what works, ZX is straightforward though advent really leaves things up to interpretation for how it goes up to Legends. Least the spinoff segment for battle network/starforce is way more simple and less complex not counting that weird japan only remake of bn1.
I didn't even know some of these games existed. This is like finding a new treasure of knowledge to expand the castlevania legacy of nostalgia. Also great audio quality whatever mic you're using is great.
My first game I've ever played was Dracula X\Vampire Kiss for the SNES. I thought Richter was cool the way he back flips and uses weapon crashes. So Richter is also my favorite.

Funny thing is there is a clue in OoE that the villagers are more than they seem, when you talk with the old grandma. She clearly isnt phased by demons and even reveals to Shanoa that she adventured quite abit with her Grandfather or Father when she was young. Perhaps the Belmonts still were training even without the Vampire Killer?

Always appreciated what the N64 games were trying to do, even if they weren't executed perfectly: they had a lot of mood, ambiance, and atmosphere, and got back a bit to the roots of the series in terms of layout and art style. Really nice soundtrack, too, even if lacks the more epic rock-out style tunes of many other CV games.

I like the idea that Reinhardt could only temporarily use the Vampire Killer (maybe his actual name is Schneider, ala the original concept art, but he had to hide his Belmont identity?), especially since his victory with it in CV64 could be looked at as what forces Dracula to come back weakened in Bram Stoker's story; since he used Cornell's wolf essence in the mid-1800s, it meant he kind of used up his potential power, then got done in by the Vampire Killer. Plus, there's that whole dark implication that Malus might be Cornell and Ada's son...
I love your explanation of why the Belmont clan had to pass the whip to the Morris clan. Also that the Castlevania 64 series is connected is done extremely well. I actually enjoyed Legacy of Darkness and consider it the director's cut of Castlevania 64.
Would've loved Konami to adapt that explanation or something similar. As of now the official explanation to why they couldn't touch the whip is "just because."
@@GamerThumbTV Actually I read on the wikia that the Belmonts couldn't use the whip until the Demon Castle War in 1999 due to a prophecy, so the Morris clan had to use it, but that really doesn't make any sense at all.
@@Ddangerdan Exactly, and that's explained in Portrait of Ruin. But that doesn't answer the "why?" Because a prohecy said so is all we know. What happens if they touched the whip? Why did the prophecy have that stipulation to begin with? Why couldn't Belmonts between Richter and Julius use it? We don't know.

I just got through this part. I really appreciated the brevity you use for each game. I enjoyed most of all how you interwove Bram Stoker's novel and history. Loved it.
Now i know the story between the order of eclessia, circle of the moon, bloodlines and the portrait of ruin in the gameboy consoles. I'd noticed the Easter Egg nod of the name when playing, before, but never run through the timeline and noticed that overlap, on my own. I just figured it was a name nod, because of the importance of Bram Stoker's novel to the vampire, and especially Dracula, mythos. It makes sense Konami'd reference it, but I didn't realize they overlapped, time-wise as well lol
Always loved the Castlevania games and discovered your series after watching Netflix's S2. Love this so much. I skipped Portrait of Ruins because I disliked the art style, but now seeing the game footage it seems a lot of fun.

I figured that Dracula got less and less "human" by each resurrection. That's why his Ultimate form always changes. It could also serve as a reason as to why death can be killed yet return, and is always bound to Dracula. Every resurrection changes Dracula, which serves as the anchor for Death to the mortal plain. Thus, Death's form and power changes depending on Dracula's state.
The morris family are the most Metal Belmonts clearly slaying vampires with a whip that drains their life energy.

Shanoa
In my head, I imagine the interlude between OoE and CotM like that:
Despite her victory over Dracula, Shanoa decided to live out of society because of the power of Dominus still dormant in her: having ended up being afraid of the same power that allowed her to defeat Dracula, but also caused the loss of her adoptive brother, she didn't want this power to lead to the eventual death of others if she lost her control.
But after hearing of a Dracula resurrection, she went to investigate and met Morris Baldwin and Nathan Graves' parents. They pursuing the same goal, so Shanoa proposed their help, which they accepted.
After many events, they managed to reach Dracula, but despite their combined powers, they failed to stand up to him. Sensing that the fight would be lost, Shanoa resigned herself to reuse Dominus, sacrificing her life to save Morris -- Nathan's parents having lost their lives during the battle.
Before she breathed her last breath, she told Morris that wearing Dominus for many years was terribly unbearable, and that she had sought a way to get rid of it, in vain. But she was also afraid that humanity would be defenseless if Dracula were to return, so she had decided to find someone who could resume the fight against Dracula, pending the return of the Belmonts. She seeing Morris as the one who she was looking for.
Devastated by the death of his friends and Shanoa's sacrifice, Morris promised to respect Shanoa's last will and take Nathan under his wing to replace the Belmonts in the fight against Dracula.
Your videos has such detail and quality that I would absolutely LOVE to see a series like this for franchises like Megaman or Metroid, really good joob dude now in my bucket list I have to play every single one of the games in the correct order just because it would feel so great.
Depends which section of the megaman timeline you would look since classic would get a bit more expanded and confused, X while there hasn't been a 9, it's the existence of the Zero segment that causes issues in determining what works, ZX is straightforward though advent really leaves things up to interpretation for how it goes up to Legends. Least the spinoff segment for battle network/starforce is way more simple and less complex not counting that weird japan only remake of bn1.
I didn't even know some of these games existed. This is like finding a new treasure of knowledge to expand the castlevania legacy of nostalgia. Also great audio quality whatever mic you're using is great.

Funny thing is there is a clue in OoE that the villagers are more than they seem, when you talk with the old grandma. She clearly isnt phased by demons and even reveals to Shanoa that she adventured quite abit with her Grandfather or Father when she was young. Perhaps the Belmonts still were training even without the Vampire Killer?

Always appreciated what the N64 games were trying to do, even if they weren't executed perfectly: they had a lot of mood, ambiance, and atmosphere, and got back a bit to the roots of the series in terms of layout and art style. Really nice soundtrack, too, even if lacks the more epic rock-out style tunes of many other CV games.

I like the idea that Reinhardt could only temporarily use the Vampire Killer (maybe his actual name is Schneider, ala the original concept art, but he had to hide his Belmont identity?), especially since his victory with it in CV64 could be looked at as what forces Dracula to come back weakened in Bram Stoker's story; since he used Cornell's wolf essence in the mid-1800s, it meant he kind of used up his potential power, then got done in by the Vampire Killer. Plus, there's that whole dark implication that Malus might be Cornell and Ada's son...

I love your explanation of why the Belmont clan had to pass the whip to the Morris clan. Also that the Castlevania 64 series is connected is done extremely well. I actually enjoyed Legacy of Darkness and consider it the director's cut of Castlevania 64.
Would've loved Konami to adapt that explanation or something similar. As of now the official explanation to why they couldn't touch the whip is "just because."
@@GamerThumbTV Actually I read on the wikia that the Belmonts couldn't use the whip until the Demon Castle War in 1999 due to a prophecy, so the Morris clan had to use it, but that really doesn't make any sense at all.
@@Ddangerdan Exactly, and that's explained in Portrait of Ruin. But that doesn't answer the "why?" Because a prohecy said so is all we know. What happens if they touched the whip? Why did the prophecy have that stipulation to begin with? Why couldn't Belmonts between Richter and Julius use it? We don't know.

I'd noticed the Easter Egg nod of the name when playing, before, but never run through the timeline and noticed that overlap, on my own. I just figured it was a name nod, because of the importance of Bram Stoker's novel to the vampire, and especially Dracula, mythos.

Always loved the Castlevania games and discovered your series after watching Netflix's S2. Love this so much. I skipped Portrait of Ruins because I disliked the art style, but now seeing the game footage it seems a lot of fun.

Order of Ecclesia is probably my favorite of the Metroidvania game. There are so many amazing ones, though.

I love that you're using the supposed non canon games too! circle of the moon was the first video game I actually brought with my own money (summer jobs you know?) and so it holds a big place in my heart. I never understood why it was taken out of canon? (plus it's a great game)
