The Castlevania Timeline Part 1: Origins of Evil - Button Smash

- Опубліковано 4 лип 2017
- Welcome to the most detailed Castlevania Timeline in existence! Part 1 reveals the origins of the immortal vampire Dracula and his feud with the heroic Belmont Clan. As Dracula begins his extermination of humanity a hero rises and wields a legendary weapon against him. And after an attempted return, Dracula is betrayed by one of his own warriors. Subscribe, like, and enjoy!
NOTE 1: This timeline series contains some information that's not considered "canon" by Konami. There's also some information I created myself within the universe for storytelling purposes, to fill in gaps and connect all the dots in interesting ways. Please view this as my own interpretation of the Castlevania universe, and not canon gospel. So sit back and enjoy the ride!
NOTE 2: Shortly after the 36 minute mark I accidentally referred to Hector as "Trevor." Whoops.

"I'll kill you AND the night!"
YES! THAT is how you make a badass character a badass character! I love that line so much!
Not to sound like a weird fan or anything but I've been watching your Timeline videos over and over again since last year October as I work on trying to provide content on my channel, and I just want to say that I love listening to you talk about all these events and moments in these video games as I doodle away on my graphics board. I don't understand how you don't have many more subscribers, but if it means anything at all to you, I'll tell other people about your work and hope I can at the very least get you an extra ten subs, if not more. Keep up your videos, sir.
Also, I believe you said in one of your videos before that you wanted the next generation to learn about these classic titles and play them as you did? Well, thanks to your Castlevania timeline videos I bought and played Castlevania Symphony of the Night, and I loved the HELL out of it. Thanks for introducing me to an awesome game. Some time this year I'll look into the other Castlevania titles. Thanks GamerthumbTV. You're awesome.
The compliments to you were well deserved, mate. Whatever the future of your channel has in store, I shall come by to check it out, watching and listening to your videos as I too try to carve a piece of the internet to claim as my own. Here's to the success of your future endeavors, GamerThumb.
Now if you excuse me, I've got the last video of your Assassin's Creed Timeline playlist ready to watch/listen to in another tab, right after I finish this video again.
Only a Belmont can pull of a line so cheesy. Killing an entire time of day.
Also really good voice acting. It sounds like Dave Wittenberg (I think that's his name) the guy who plays as Kakashi in Naruto, or at least it sounds like him. Any ways, that was a really well delivered line.
Personally, I love when he says “From this point on, the Belmonts will HUNT THE NIGHT!”
He literally had to play most of the games just to make a timeline. Damn this is some level of perservance and its awesome as hell
@@GamerThumbTV Now you have to play Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, even though it has nothing to do with Castlevania lore, it will still have that epicness of Castlevania, especially the music.

One thing you forgot to mention was Hector met an unusual gentleman by the name of St. Germaine, a traveler of sorts who seemed to know Zead and Hector discovered he has the ability to only see past events, but not interact with them.
St. Germaine could have saved Elizabetha from dying, provide solice for Leon when Sara was sacrificed, Germaine could prove that Lisa and Rosalie were not witches, but sadly Germaine could only see how events play out, and not interfere with them.

To think Mathias would've been invincible if he had just asked Leon to find a way to defeat Walter instead of kidnapping Sera and basically dooming him to becoming a mortal enemy
I always wondered why Leon never questioned how Matthias came to know where Sarah had been taken.
Mathias just said it, "I used ALL of you" making him the reason why Sarah was kidnapped.
I don't know if you follow Smash Bros news, but Simon and Richter are gonna be in the new Smash with Dracula's Castle! It's amazing!
I saw the Castlevania anime before watching this and I gotta say. the first wife dies because of illness. unlucky but not enough to want to cause Armageddon; but just enough to curse God, and still not enough to use your best friends wife like a homie stock that gives aura(dick move bro).
Then the second wife burns in the name of god and I can't help but feel like I'm following a stupid tradition (zing!)
Who names a vampire "Walter"? Like what? Is he going to come out, borrow a cup of sugar, oh sorry just turned your wife into a vampire, but while I'm here can I borrow your lawnmower? Thanks neighbor.
Ironically he wouldn't be able to get into your house otherwise
Walter White does not appreciate your sullying of his name.
It's a Genius Bonus.
Walter is German for "ruler of the army" being made from "wald" (to rule) and "hari" (army). When translated to a Slavic language (e.g. a language that would have been spoken in 15th century Transylvania), "wald" becomes "vlad". Vlad obviously being the name of the historical ruler Bram Stoker based Dracula on.
Or run a meth operation.

hold on, so Hector's love for animals was established even BEFORE Netflix Season 2? Holy shit
@@GamerThumbTV Agreed, I love that they included that too. Nice vid btw, glad to see someone actually doing their research before talking about it. There's a lot of inaccurate videos out there because people don't bother getting their facts straight before arguing something.. People complaining about the lack of content in the animated series are only proving how little they know about the series to begin with, haha. They put an incredible amount of detail and care into making it, as little things like that show.
@@GamerThumbTV oh man, don't even get me started on some of the idiocy I've seen on some of the reviews of the anime. But he didn't do any "animal necromancy" in the gameverse (especially in the prequel manga) and that the gameverse's Devil Forgemasters function very differently from Netflix's "Forgemasters".
@@blumiu2426 I think animals drawn to Hector might have some connection to his (great) magical potential plus affinity with them. After all, Hector was also the better Devil Forgemaster, whom Isaac was jealous of. One of the interesting scenes from vol 1 of the manga was regarding Isaac being forced to git gud as the Succubus told him of the risks of Devil Forgery.
Forgemasters (without the Devil in their name) in Netflixvania are close to what we could call as "rebranded necromancers" or dead body-reliant summoners, nothing like their original counterparts whom could be described as an amalgamation of sorcerer, alchemist, blacksmith and fighter, trained to create and utilize assorted weaponry as well as employ the use familiars known as Innocent Devils. Isaac in the Pachislot game used a ball and chain weapon that's probably meant to emulate the Vampire Killer, it's even parodized in this official 4-Koma vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/castlevania/images/3/33/Pachi_4-Panel_3.JPG/revision/latest?cb=20090308231513
So is Sara like... doomed to live forever in the whip? Can her soul see and hear stuff? Did Leon have the whip around when he was banging his second wife and continuing the Belmont bloodline by conceiving a kid? Did he at least put the whip in a drawer while he was getting it on with a new woman so Sara wouldn't be forced to watch?
Jokes aside: I wish Leon and Sara had a child before the events of Lament of Innocence. I don’t like the idea that the legendary whip that’s gone down the Belmont bloodline for almost a thousand years is simply infused with the soul of... some chick an ancestor dated once. It would hold more meaning if Sara was actually part of the Belmont lineage.
GamerThumbTV All of the wikis and fan materials I’ve read about Leon assume that he indeed moved on and had children with another unknown woman, so I’ve always believed that was what happened. I’m just saying that I wish that weren’t the case.
Knowing Leon moved on to a new wife waters down his relationship with Sara in the game, and not having Sara be part of the bloodline waters down the Belmont relationship with the whip. I think it would have improved the story if he and Sara had already been married with children by the events of Lament of Innocence.
Personally, if I were to adapt the story into a film, that’s a tweak I would make.
Better yet, he used the whip on his second wife while banging... sort of a spiritual threesome
The whole vow he made to mathias was weak. It wouldn't go past maybe his great grandchild before it was ignored
Adonis Wiessel OMG that is so sick and funny X'D

I really like Issac's redesign in the netflix show
Its better than the goth male stripper we had before. Lol
Alec Perdeau you are tripping. The old goth Isaac cannot be beaten.
BluMiu Huh, I didn’t know that. While Isaac still looks a little too “Castlevania Judgement” to me, I will admit the backstory behind it makes his attire a little more interesting.
@@erintris Netflix Hector and not-Isaac not only do not have the design (as mentioned by BluMiu) and relationship dynamic of their OG counterparts - their backstories in the Netflix take do not even have a strong connection with one another; in season 2 Isaac already mentions that he and Hector barely interact and aren't even friends.
I’m not that familiar with the games overall, but I found the Netflix take pretty refreshing. Issac’s design in the games seems pretty typical. I think his character in the Netflix show is not only visually more interesting, but his character motivation & backstory seem intriguing as well (from what I’ve gathered compared to the original anyway), but that’s just for my tastes. Either way, it’s good that we have both versions that can coexist 😉

Hi GamerThumb! I just found your timeline videos on the Castlevania series yesterday and I could not stop watching! You did a excellent job (and service to upcoming gamers and Castlevania fans) with explaining how all the games are connected. I’m a long time Castlevania fan and veteran but even though I’ve played through about 90% of the games completely, I really had no idea how they were all connected and honestly I just assumed that they were all mishmashed together with various details here and there about when Dracula returned, stuff about his “curse” and whatever in heck that meant for characters or the world, the storylines that included his body parts needing to be found, why Belmonts seemed to pass the torch to others down the centuries, it just didn’t make much collective sense until you put it all into perspective. It was ultimately the Castlevania Netflix Season 2 which got me wondering how this was all connected to Castlevania III and Curse of Darkness, but now after watching your entire timeline I can truly see that they really did not stray too crazily and most of everything seems to fit rather well as a cohesive story!
Anyhow, good job sir for making one of the most entertaining series of videos on UA-cam! Subscribed!

Castlevania uses an old anime trope. It might have started it. Two best friends, one a cheery guy and one sad boy grow up together. Sad boy turns evil at some point and fights the cheery guy.

Now that I think about it, shouldn't Death be the priority to the Belmonts? I mean, from the Church killing Lisa, to the countless resurrections of Dracula, shouldn't be clear to both Dracula and Belmonts that Death may be betraying Dracula and using him to clear out the human race so that the demons from hell can reign supreme? Death could've been behind both Elisabeth's and Lisa's death.

Amazing narration
I watched these videos again recently and I love these timeline stuff! You should consider doing a timeline video for Metroid or Resident Evil! I’d watch the hell out of it like these Castlevania videos!
GamerThumbTV I never played God of War but I’ll definitely check your video out. I can’t wait on Resident Evil stuff!
This is some Hollywood level production, man. I watched the Castlevania series on Netflix and thought the world building was really good so I wanted to know more about the backstory and, boy, did you sure deliver. I thought I might find a cheap and easy 3 minute glossing over of the history by some video game website trying to capitalize on the series popularity but this is amazing. You're very talented.
Hey thank you for that and thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed
