I absolutely love how you are the 1st video who states you can just place them in a normal monotub without holes everyone seems to think its necessary but I was wondering. Ive got a 10 pound bag arriving tommorow & a LC of GTs & it will be my 1st attempt but after watching this & your other videos Im much less nervous about it not working!
Yea, I think it's just an entrenched idea. I never saw the utility in it. It's difficult, can be dangerous, ruins a perfectly useful storage container and offers little benefit. I've grown quite a bit over the years and never drilled holes, always had great results.
I don't do anything special. Just make sure all the mushrooms are harvested, put it back into the fruiting chamber and repeat the same process of air exchanges.
The easy way is to mist the side walls with water as needed. Not so much that it pools, but enough to keep the humidity up. The goal is to keep the humidity as close to 100% as possible.
@@mushroomspawnstore do you have them sitting directly on the bottom of the Sterlite tote bottom, nothing else? I see a lot of people use perlite and foil
I don't bother with perlite. It is a totally valid method though. If you go the perlite route you can remove the bag completely which will allow more surface area for fruiting. I just don't like dealing with the extra mess.
Either way will work, inevitably you'll end up putting it in a tub after the first harvest because you'll need to cut away some of the bag to get at all the mushrooms.
In your case i would err on the side of caution and harvesting them before they drop. For most people a bit of exposure won't hurt, it's still best to avoid inhaling them. It's when you get to doing larger scale grows that it can become a real health hazard from exposure to extreme levels.
Correct, except that they do need light to fruit. Not much, if you have a room that gets sunlight you can place them in there (not in direct sunlight) or if in a closet or basement a simple 100w equivalent LED bulb is plenty.
@@mushroomspawnstore thanks bro I been real nervous about this just with contamination and getting them to fruit I dropped my last few bucks on these bags and spore syringes😂 and watching your videos definitely relieved a lot of stress. You have some beautiful fruit growing bro and I hope one day to have the same. Keep at the videos bro. Peace ✌️
It's not strictly necessary, but it's definitely a good idea to wash your hands and forearms, and you could use some alcohol after washing up to be extra precautious.
My bags are 3 pound all in one grow bag during the colonization process. Do I just let it colonize in a dark room at the right temperature or do I need to mist the bag or place near a humidifier? I don’t want to Contaminate and mess this up help

I use to have a oxygen machine. But still see canned oxygen.

When you mist the bags can you use regular tap water or do you need to use distilled water?
tap water is fine if it is from a chlorinated municipal source. i would use distilled water if i was on a well.
After harvesting, how do you prepare the block for the second and third flushes?
Nothing, I place it back in it's container and continue with normal fresh air exchanges.
How do I prepare the block for a second flush
I don't do anything special. Just make sure all the mushrooms are harvested, put it back into the fruiting chamber and repeat the same process of air exchanges.
@ okay so no need to rehydrate
When I harvest, should I immediately put in a dehydrater? I've heard where some people will "pre-dry", thx brutha
I put them straight in, 130f for usually 14-18 hours.
Thank you
Do you leave the side pins that grow in the bag. If not how do you remove them?
I leave them to grow out with the rest of the flush and harvest them as normal, it may require cutting the bag to access them.
How would you keep the humidity up with only one 5lb bag in the Sterliite?TIA, great stuff man, concise AF
The easy way is to mist the side walls with water as needed. Not so much that it pools, but enough to keep the humidity up. The goal is to keep the humidity as close to 100% as possible.

I can’t decide if I should take mine out of the bag and put into a tub or just leave it?
It’s beginning to fruit
Either way will work, inevitably you'll end up putting it in a tub after the first harvest because you'll need to cut away some of the bag to get at all the mushrooms.
@ yeah I was thinking that too! Just seems inevitable like you said but I’m paranoid of contamination
Ever had any effects from spore inhalation? I’m gonna just try to harvest before spore drop but gotta be safe. I’m asthmatic.

Get the same mask painters wear hope this helps :)
They normally have filters built into them just make sure you don’t get the cheapest ones you find
@ I’ve been harvesting first sign of veil tearage!! Don’t even give a chance for spores to drop
what is the best Humidity temp? when fruiting
~70f is a good temp. You want to maintain as high a humidity as possible in the bag or container you are fruiting in.
So just to confirm cut bag above the block, place in sterilite tote, breathe daily? No need to worry about light?
Correct, except that they do need light to fruit. Not much, if you have a room that gets sunlight you can place them in there (not in direct sunlight) or if in a closet or basement a simple 100w equivalent LED bulb is plenty.

do you have to sanitize during this stage?

no need to mist the bags or add humidity until you open them to fruit.
Can you just cut the top of the bag and let them fruit ?
yea, that is one method. I cover it at 2:00
