- Dexter and Teddy were due for a dental cleaning and I thought it would be fun for you to come along to see what’s involved.
Getting your pets teeth checked and cleaned is extremely important and vital for preventing gingivitis and other diseases. Oriental Shorthairs have some challenges with their teeth and it’s essential to make sure I stay on top of all wellness issues.
A huge thanks to The Feline Medical Center in Lincroft, NJ for taking care of my cats and making sure they continue to be as healthy as possible.

I had a cat who would hide if I left a bag of trash in the hallway. To her it looked like luggage and that meant a trip to grandma's & THAT meant having to get into the carrier.

My first cat yowled nonstop in the car, but was mellow with the vet. My last cat was totally mellow in the car, but swore like a gangsta and came out swingin' at the vet.

We used to have a cat who sounded like a toddler screaming, "Mama NO NO!," the entire trip to the vet! Teddy's "Take me HOME" honks are so adorable & I'm sure Dexter's showing off his sparkly clean fangs. I love how they all greet each other at home too. Sweetest babies! 😊
My cats act like this all the time when we take them to the vet, last time one of my cats peed out of the carrier and on me cause she was that terrified.
@@daichi_tetsurou07 Yep, Spooks - AKA Mama NO NO! - would do that too... and worse! Scaredy kitty #2 is the worst. We live in the South & his yearly vet appts. were always late July. It was tearful in every single way you can imagine. 😉

It’s normal for orientals and Siamese to sound like that when stressed, displeased and anxious. They’re not being hurt in any way. I grew up with my mother breeding this type of cats and heard this MANY times. As soon as you let them out of the carrier they go quiet. It’s mostly complaints about being in a small space and not being able to move freely

Has anyone else noticed that cats JUST KNOW when they're going to the vet? It's uncanny (uncatty???). We leave their carriers out, with cozy bedding inside, so they won't be freaked by seeing them. Still, appt. day comes & they all ghost us until way after dark. Must be feline-Ninja superpowers. 🤣

I take my cat to the vet regularly and I feed him well (but I don't overfeed him), I give him lots of love, and when I adopted him he was a former stray who had lived in a cage for a year... and he is the best cat, but he still wants to go outside every so often because he likes to. he likes to be a feral cat like he used to be. also, you can't help it if they run outside when you open the door (first time he got out; cried and cried and cried, until he came back a few hours later haha) not to mention cats are curious creatures. chipping them is in good safety precaution.
not to mention my cat wouldn't know what to do with himself on a leash; cats are not the same as dogs. they were not bred to be loyal to humans. ask my tomcat, give him some good head rubs and he'll act like you were the one who fed him for the past 5 years.

My cat nearly brings me to tears every time he has to go the vet. He gets himself in such a panic and howls til his throat is raw! For him though, it's not the carrier or the vet he hates, it's the car?!
My friend normally helps me take him for boosters every year, and we are both sat in the car with him trying not to cry 😂

@@pantherinae_art Poor baby. :( If you don't already, it can help them putting a towel or blanket over the carrier (with ventilation, of course). Seeing what's outside can make them more stressed out than just being in a weird dark moving prison, and the towel smells like home so they aren't getting weird strange whiffs of new things as they travel.
We evacuated during hurricane Irma two hours away. My cat was howling and shaking the whole time, and I was just trying to pet him through the cage the whole time, but I'm pretty sure he didn't sleep the whole time he was there. I hate making him travel, which is why we usually have our neighborbor or my older brother check on him and feed him and clean his litter box, hut we couldn't leave him during a hurricane.
I agree I have a cat called Milo (my Proflie pic) the got hit by a car a while ago but the wire in his leg went out of place and was stabbing him and he started screaming and crying the the bathroom cause of the wire stabbing his skin I started crying, so awful

When my two cats were separated for vet visits the female, whether or not she was the traveler, would hiss and slap the male for hours. As they aged it started to last longer up to two days.

So sweet that they bathe each other rather than hiss. My 2 half Siamese sibs would act as if they suspected the one who had been to the vet had been infected with a zombie virus or something until the “vet stink” wore off. No fighting, just hissing and avoidance.
Reminds me of when my cat Delilah was fixed. Our old dog Katie would fuss over her like crazy. When Delilah got back from the vet, Katie sniffed her all over and then licked her, as if she was panicking about her smelling like the vet, and then making sure she didn’t smell like the vet anymore.

My cats react he same way as this to being confined/moved/relocated, it's a very traumatic experience for them, and frankly for the owner too. There's no greater relief than getting home after a vet visit with your cat in a carrier, and opening the door while seeing them go quiet and start to relax back into their home environment.
