The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year and takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The 2021 US Open saw Russia's Daniil Medvedev and Great Britain's Emma Raducanu claim the men's and women's singles titles. It was both players' first major title, with 18-year-old Raducanu becoming the first-ever qualifier to achieve the feat. The 2022 US Open main draw is scheduled to go ahead between August 30 - September 11.

How could Barty not close the match 2 times on her serve 😭
This was the greatest match that anyone has played against Barty. No one can beat the up spin like she has, so they just lose and lose. Well Shelby went old school and lobbed and popped. She problem solved to take her out of her 1 2 punch. Really great stuff. You can’t keep playing the same game to win.
if shelby could always play like this, she’d easily be top 10
but whenever she has a big win she loses the next match regardless of the opponent

This extended highlights needs to show more points from the tiebreak. It shows Shelby's comeback from 2-5 down well but all of a sudden it's match point
Barty just isnt used to players handling her low slice down the line. And shelby was here for most of them.
Shelby also took away her slice and rhythm by lobs and just random shots to take that 1-2 upspin topspin punch. No one has ever problem solved like that mid match. Really great by both.
Really miss having Ash in the game. I adore Iga and watching her achieve so much this season has been a supreme pleasure, but I think there was potential for such a great rivalry between her and Barty.
Okay but watching this now it always feels like the she never actually enjoyed tennis?

Yes, I would’ve loved to see a Barty/Raducanu match. But congrats to Rogers who pulled of quite a trick against the world no. 1 😯

Yep. Great champion, great human being.
Barty had a really bad dip during that match. Many (too many) unforeced errors. Untypical. But Rogers played the match of her life.
Shelby was throwing the kitchen sink at her. No one tries to problem solve the upspin top spin lethal combination that Barty uses without breaking a sweat. I thought it was THE match of Barty and Shelby’s life- to see what one has to do to beat that and problem solve- the effort is insane.

I think beating Barty especially for Rogers who had lost to her four times already this year, I don't think she would have minded in hindsight. Just to get that win over the World number one is a huge confidence booster that she seems to be riding even now at IW. Great job
