      I have the gramercy body shape. It's awesome for the money. I needed something to abuse camping and traveling. Didn't wanna drag my tayor, tak, or fender everywhere and risk damage. It's so much guitar for the money. It has its quirks though. The tuning posts are really short and stubby. Makes it hard to get a pretty wrap when changing strings. The little metal bit at the top of the headstock is ever so slightly off center on mine as well. But again I didn't buy it as a show piece, I bought it to play in less than ideal environments

    I have one of these with the aged looking top and I have to say it's beyond awesome. I put 10 gauge strings on it and it stays in tune remarkably well. It sounds great plugged in , especially for being an all laminate. I run it straight through a Fishman Mini Loudbox and it sounds great. Good review brother.

    Bought that exact same guitar today for $240 at a pawn shop. I had been looking for one and by chance found one for the first time. Grabbed it immediately without even testing it. I looked for scratches and dings of course but didn't even strum it. I just bought it. Good as gold

    Just bought the aged mahogany, Lexington (dreadnought) version of this guitar. Having spent the last 7 years in Nashville and played guitars ranging from $300-$2000... it's really out of it's league for the price. Mahogany body sounds beautiful, it's easy to play, and sounds great plugged in. My new go-to for my regular gigs.

      No I’m not on high. But I am being honest about my observation. And so far this guitar has not broken at all and I’ve used it on many gigs and it has been super reliable. I was nervous that it could have those problems. And it IS so cheap that I’m willing to take the risk. It’s an amazing guitar for this price. But it’s still a lower end model. Worth considering depending on what level of playing you need to do with it!

      Hi I just bought the 12 string. Being all mahogany top Guitar it has a really nice midrange that makes every string sing. I have had a couple top end Guild’s that did not have the tone this has. Maybe I am finding that mahogany is a great wood for a 12 String. One question to anyone. There is a truss rod cover on the headstock. Is there a truss adjuster under that cover. Because it looks like there is a truss rod adjustment in the sound hole. I just got it two days ago, and I was trying to make some adjustments on the one from the sound hole. I’m not being lazy I’m just at the place where those small screws could drop and I never find them so if anyone can answer my question, please do.

    This is such a warm guitar. I dig it. And that satin finish. So you took the review to the next level once you tuned it to Drop D. I agree about the bridge posts. It would be nice to have a drilled and glued stud for an enhanced bridge rather than just straight glue. Thanks for the review. Now I can't decide between that and a Washburn Bella Tono Vite S9V.

    I'm a big fan of hogtops and I do like the look of this one but... I have to admit, it sounds a bit thin to me, even for an all laminate construction. It may just be how UA-cam compressed the audio but, it sounds pretty 2 dimensional and flat to my ears compared to the bold, warm tones of my Sigma DMC-15E or Takamine EF-349. Not too sure about this one

    I have a question for you and I hope you see this soon. I have a 10 yo daughter who has been taking guitar lessons at school using a borrowed guitar. We want to get her a guitar for Christmas but also don't want to break the bank. Would you recommend D'Angelico or the Yamaha FX335C? Obviously we would like the best sound and durability. Also what electric acoustic guitar would you suggest that's under $300? Thank you in advance for any help you can give. We are excited to buy her very first guitar that she will make many memories with.

    • @jimmyfranklin
      @jimmyfranklin  3 роки тому +1

      Hey! This is amazing! I’m so excited for her. Both this and the Yamaha are under $300 and both are wonderful options. If you just randomly picked one between those two you’d have a wonderful guitar either way. The only major differences are that the dangelico is “prettier” and the Yamaha has a very slight advantage in build quality. But it’s so slight it’s maybe unnoticeable to someone who doesn’t play. I’d probably go with the Yamaha since she is ten and will probably bang it around a little bit at first!

    I saw it does’nt have a solid top, but laminated mahogany. Is that a big downside or not worth mentioning for a guitar in this price range? I’m thinking about getting this guitar, but not sure of I should look for a guitar with a solid top. I’m past beginners point, more of a cozy campfire guitarist. What would you recommend?
    Ps great review!!

    • @jimmyfranklin
      @jimmyfranklin  3 роки тому +3

      Thank you so much!! So… the next level up of this is like a $500 guitar. If you aren’t the beginner stage I truly recommend that or up. On friend of mine bought the 1200 dollar version and they don’t ever want another acoustic and a student of mine has the 500 range guitar and it feels so much better than this. And I REALLY like this one.

So I have no reason to say anything I don’t want to. And the reason for the great review is because of the price point of this guitar. It’s 200 dollars and to me that’s insane quality.
