@@ASMR-XI-ZUI i met prince as a youth fan as early as 82. I think it happened so fast. I saw about 4 gigs in years but The last time i met him was at musicology tour 2004. He did a after set after his show in nashville. It was 25 to get in. It was intimate. Maybe 100 people. We went out the backstage door and his band creeped out on the bus. We saw a few fans from the previous arena show. He walked thru the crowd with larry graham and got back on stage. When prince finally walked out we was standing outside and he just was casual while he waited for limo. One fan got excited and got knocked down by a guard. But he talked to me and a few others joking. Finally he left with larry in the limo. I figured it would be the last time id see him for awhile. He lived another 12 years.
some info on this track. prince took some of these 94 east grooves with him when he did his demo for his first album,For you. The lead singer here was the same gal who sang in Lipps inc.song Funkytown,Cynthia Johnson. The quality of this jam is poor but its audible enuff to hear prince and andre cymone grooving to what became wouldn't you love to love me, which later was officially released by taja seville and even inspiring do you love what you feel by rufus & chaka khan, who prince adored.
God, there's something about the difference in quality between the track and the vocals that just gets me. It's a trip and a half. I wanna do a whole album that sounds like this. Lol.
The way this song is recorded allows you to hear EVERYTHING yet it seems that the vocals are sitting right on top of everything. If you're into music/recording/sound you understand what I'm saying.
It sounds like the rhythm track, consisting of a drum machine programmed beat, the bass guitar, and rhythm guitar were recorded straight to cassette. The vocals must have been overdubbed since they sound cleaner. A pretty unique production technique which gives the track a distinct feel and vibe.
This is the funk...gal from lipps inc. Prince had a couple outtakes with this groove. Wouldnt you love to love me and this sounds a lot like Rufus&chakas do you like what you feel. I am a prince fan...met him once or twice...hit me up poster!
Gee I wonder who's playing guitar on this one?? ;) Even almost sounds like Wendy and Lisa singing! But as we know, this was many years before the Revolution.
I keep going back to the 94 East stuff because it’s so raw and funky as hell. Dude was 16 or 17 during these sessions which such a trip!!
Prince knows his music,i met him. He moves on,but the public loves his old stuff...
What was the meeting like? So amazing.
