ebay ran a promo for the shoe fees. they created the opportunity for you to make money and you did. ebay should have released guidelines if they were going you flag down high end stuff like that, or even said something when you were doing it, like yo chill out these big transactions are too much liability for us.
I have lost my health, husband lost his job in oil and gas, and then covid hit. We had already been living like people did during covid for years. It took me 10 years to have surgery I desperately needed and I’m almost 2 years in recovery. I’m still lot physically able todo a lot so I am struggling with places to take pictures, my physical ability to list on the floor makes it hard some days todo more than 5 or 10 listings. I’m working on a space to hand stuff but right now most of sells have been bundle of kids clothes. I have so much with 3 kids and tons of my nephews clothes of various sizes. I have bought a few things at garage sales and goodwill but I’m really reconsidering my approach doing that cause I can’t afford to get low cost items than don’t sell quickly. Lol your videos really are the best on UA-cam and I’ve learned so much! Ty so much! I hope I can my store reviewed, one day, when I start to sell a little more. I have almost 200 listing and sold about $500 worth between multiple platforms. I have to say Facebook marketplace is a complete nightmare!! Urrrg!! 😅

In the light that Chris did provide to the best he could his version of receipts, I kind of agree. Permanent ban is way beyond what the alternative is- just don’t sell rare sneakers w/o receipts. I just inherited a lot of luxury watches and jewelry and art from my mother… I don’t have any receipts, so I can’t sell them? I don’t have a long track record selling on eBay but this shouldn’t matter.. I don’t have receipts!
The more cash flow eBay could show on its books, the greater its borrowing potential. It was nice of you to help them. It is too bad that they could not return the favor. It "feels" like the ultimate truth is being withheld.

Your content will always be valid. Because we are resellers and the platform does not have to be eBay. It is not a good idea for anyone to put "all their eggs in one basket" as we can lose our eBay, Mercari, Poshmark, etc accounts at their whim. Whatever you decide to do, you will be successful and your content will be awesome!
I previously got suspended on eBay and was told by eBay directly that my account was suspended and there was nothing I could do about it besides wait for one year to pass and then open a new account. I waited the year and opened a new account in my name and everything has been good since.
I'm glad you are able to get new account. Do you know why you got suspended before? My cousin got her account suspended right after she opened an account with no explanation.

Sounds like you're fed up of selling on ebay and this suspension was just the thing you needed to move on to new things ... me on the other hand, if I got suspended I would be lining up for welfare.
I had my small “junk” store closed and banned from PayPal during Covid because it normally only sold cleaning, hair, and hygiene products. I wasn’t a price gouger, I already sold these products. 3/20-5/20 I almost sold out my store of all inventory, causing a huge spike in sales. However, it was only about $3000, nothing crazy. I was given about 8 hours to produce all my receipts, which I did not have, and they closed it. PayPal also never returned about $600 of mine. So, if can happen with little stores too:( just thankful it didn’t affect my other store. Thanks for the video and good luck!

I have been tossing around trying Shopify, but I literally have no idea what I'm doing over there. I have tried to find good videos explaining it and not found anything truly helpful yet. I need to grow income due to I am off work the next 4-6 months and lost my $750 a week income and due to FMLA, they won't let me file for unemployment. I literally cannot go to work (my daughter was in a bad wreck and I am her 24 hr caregiver til she learns to walk again. They said it is minimum 4-6 months at most 1 yr she will need full time care). So I need to grow what I already have.
What you should do is open a store selling Amazon liquidation like Lindy Glenn in Kansas. Like a bin store she's buying truckloads Doing great with it. Can sell lot of it online.

I think when you buy from swapmeets, open markets, not everyone gives a receipt. The vendors don't hv time to always make receipts. I hv asked for receipts and a few laugh when I buy a lot. Not our time to judge or insinuate otherwise.
1. If their hands are tied and they banned you because a company forced them to....yeah, that's an issue. Like, a lawsuit level issue. 2. You're looking at the store option the wrong way. The goal isn't to sell to your followers. The point is your followers will be key to getting the word out about your store. It's a great advantage most people don't have.
You are so right! I have worked my full time job for 25 years and just recently quit my second job that I worked for 15 years. I was burned out and physically falling apart. I am now struggling financially and want to sell some stuff on eBay for extra money but I’m afraid. I can’t afford to get scammed by a buyer. Good luck to you whatever you do in the future.
I'd say go for it! My advice would be to avoid selling electronics, list every imperfection, and most importantly take good pictures showing any flaws. It will help you immensely! I have really good luck selling vintage/antique items. It seems buyers who are searching for "used" older items expect small flaws and such. If you do decide to sell electronics selling them for parts always goes good, I have never got a return on an item sold for parts because they are expecting it to not be working and are usually looking to repair/part it out for other similar items. Never upsell your items, be real about what it is. Yeah returns can really suck but once you get your system down they decrease significantly. Good luck! Even with all the bad talk about ebay it has paid off over and over and has really helped my husband and I make extra money. I'm a stay at home mom and it allows me to be with my kids and still make money which is amazing. It's totally worth it I'm telling you despite what happened to daily refinement.
@@donnasmith7188 That's a great place to start! I've made a decent amount of money selling things around my house that were not sourced. My husband had a huge container of comics, I went through them and sold 2 comics for $140 and another for $35 so for 3 comics that were free and given to him as a kid there was $175 that has just been sitting around. He also had vintage t-shirts that were his dad's and no longer fit either of them and sold them and made $70 some bucks so starting with things around the house is the best way to go if you want to dabble into it and see how it goes for you. I've been doing it about a year and a half now and although I don't have a huge store it really has helped and I don't plan on stopping. It's work and takes motivation but what's cool is we can do it in our own time at our own pace.
A successful reseller should be successful in any environment at any platform - you should be able to succeed anywhere as long as you keep following the process.
Someone complained or had issues with you and/or your high-end products. For whatever reason. If Ebay is asking for your invoices (proof of purchase) then they have issues with your claim to rightful ownership. Ebay is in the same type of business as any other company. Simply put, they are in "the money making" business. The way I see it, one two things occurred. Someone with clout or high in the food chain had issues with you or an immediate family member. I guess they could have been jealous you were getting all the best shoes business. You probably, have a few potential individuals in mind. The who or who did it, will surface. On the other hand, if there is even a remote chance of criminal impropriety, then your "right to remain silent" is recommended. In closing, I personally found your videos very helpful. Your commitment to success is obvious. Unlike, countless 'snake oil salesmen' offering free advise while at the same time validating your credit card are out there. In my opinion, you sir, are not one those. Your efforts are genuine. For that, thank-you!

I believe the best way you can hurt eBay and have them respect you is to create a online store and see if you can get a lot of people who are following you to open a store along with you in a group store. Then compete against eBay. Because they will watch you and your followers grow and be making money and how much will eBay be getting? 0 This will be helping you and others at the same time. While all eBay can do is wishing they had a cut of that money. This all could have been prevented with simple communication from eBay and you. Now they the baby out with the bath water. I'm sorry this happened to you but I love how positive you are. I'm just starting to resell and I was switching over to poshmark but will still do ebay some. I saw where you said to make a goal and my purpose is to pay off Dr bills. But I do get nervous that I will do something wrong. But I feel that I learned alot from you and I'm not giving up.
I think eBay should review their suspension policies. For example, unless someone does something illegal the seller should be restored within a few months or a year. Why not suspend for example for 6 months to a year and then allow the seller to start over? It seems that eBay is being too harsh. It makes you wonder if this is the best platform to build a sustainable business, something to pass on as a legacy. I think it is time for you to build your own brand and own store online. You can use UA-cam and Facebook ads to build your brand.
eBay has been demanding that we start selling more big end and less small stuff, but set no rules for sellers. 19 years selling on eBay, and for the last 3 years they have not given a crap about their sellers. eBay employee told me they were going to fix a issue we had with customer, and 3 weeks later nothing.

You're thought that most sellers are safe is questionable. I disagree with it completely. Ebay has a systemic rot growing from within. Anytime someone has the idea they're never wrong (like ebay) it will hurt them. In addition to the suspended account we've had other issues and not a single one was resolved correctly or even addressed in a proffesional manner. Not a single one. They are not to be trusted. They take their fees and act as though you're privileged to use their platform. That's not what the fees are for.
They do the same thing with the VERO items. They have to have the technology to restrict listings that would violate those policies but I think they look to get the profit while they can until a company complains about the listing. I have gotten vero notifications months after I sold the item so they were happy to keep fees and reprimand the seller to appease the big companies.

You should come up with a reseller starting kit. Comes with your handbook the reselling class you offer like 10 items and the proper mailing material. Someone invests in the starter pack and explains each process while they do it.

Also Mercari is cool and u can have in Mercari unlimited drafts and they do not delete after 30 days like eBay. U can become a big seller there as well . It’s not as bad as u think many items sell there faster then on eBay and fees are ok. I’m excited for Sunday to see how your boxes sell.
If you bought private collections of shoes you should have some paperwork to show Ebay. That would be like an invoice. If not, then maybe ebay does have good reason to question to legitimacy of your goods. If you had multiple warnings...
If your merchandise was authenticated, why does it matter where you got them? It sounds like ebay wants certain sellers to have a monopoly which seems illegal.

eBay is tough. I own/operate a wholesale business but we also do eBay to balance things. A couple years ago my account was restricted, nothing I did to cause it, but I never got it back. They wouldn’t cancel my store membership either, couldn’t get ahold of anyone during 2020 due to Covid. I gave up on eBay and started using other platforms. Recently, about three months ago, I started a new eBay account. It’s taken off quickly, sales are great. Hit with two counterfeit item restrictions almost back to back and currently finishing a 10 day suspension. I’ve sold no counterfeit items, my listings were reported by another user, probably a competitor. But eBay doesn’t care to provide sellers with any customer service, doesn’t matter if you’re selling thousands per week or millions. That is the worst part of selling on eBay, terrible customer service. Not to mention the amount of scammers that use eBay to take money from you. We need a new platform similar to eBay with better customer service for sellers. Mercari is too slow, I don’t care for the Platform much.

Hey Chris, I’ve been a newer viewer of Daily Refinement. Though this is sad, I’m excited for what the channel will have in your next chapter. I’d say Offer Up is a possible 3rd to eBay and Amazon. You can sell local and across the country. I’ve used and made decent passive income.
eBay has to answer to a higher authority, the payment processor. Chris you would benefit from your own payment processor at your stage. But the banks run the processors and like you say, there are different levels for different amounts of money processed. Given the numbers your processing, the processor most likely flagged you and alerted eBay. eBay can’t risk there processors so they must comply. Given how much you e put into marketing, why not your own website? And your own processor. Hire a marketing person in trade for the fees you have eBay and market yourself? I’m new to eBay and just coming in as this is happening. No matter what you do, given your skill set, you will succeed. Thank you for opening your life to us to learn from.

In the light that Chris did provide to the best he could his version of receipts, I kind of agree. Permanent ban is way beyond what the alternative is- just don’t sell rare sneakers w/o receipts. I just inherited a lot of luxury watches and jewelry and art from my mother… I don’t have any receipts, so I can’t sell them? I don’t have a long track record selling on eBay but this shouldn’t matter.. I don’t have receipts!

Your content will always be valid. Because we are resellers and the platform does not have to be eBay. It is not a good idea for anyone to put "all their eggs in one basket" as we can lose our eBay, Mercari, Poshmark, etc accounts at their whim. Whatever you decide to do, you will be successful and your content will be awesome!
I previously got suspended on eBay and was told by eBay directly that my account was suspended and there was nothing I could do about it besides wait for one year to pass and then open a new account. I waited the year and opened a new account in my name and everything has been good since.
I'm glad you are able to get new account. Do you know why you got suspended before? My cousin got her account suspended right after she opened an account with no explanation.

I had my small “junk” store closed and banned from PayPal during Covid because it normally only sold cleaning, hair, and hygiene products. I wasn’t a price gouger, I already sold these products. 3/20-5/20 I almost sold out my store of all inventory, causing a huge spike in sales. However, it was only about $3000, nothing crazy. I was given about 8 hours to produce all my receipts, which I did not have, and they closed it. PayPal also never returned about $600 of mine. So, if can happen with little stores too:( just thankful it didn’t affect my other store. Thanks for the video and good luck!

@@annabell3385 of course could never talk to anyone, but officially on the account, it says “ held for damages”, whatever that means! I just found out there is actually a class action suit starting against PayPal for this exact thing, they made the wrong poker player mad in California. I signed up!

And no one is waiting on him it's the fact that other people's knowledge can go a long way. Shopify is tricky yet many want you to believe that it's a piece of cake. Do you sell on Shopify, eBay etc?
I have been tossing around trying Shopify, but I literally have no idea what I'm doing over there. I have tried to find good videos explaining it and not found anything truly helpful yet. I need to grow income due to I am off work the next 4-6 months and lost my $750 a week income and due to FMLA, they won't let me file for unemployment. I literally cannot go to work (my daughter was in a bad wreck and I am her 24 hr caregiver til she learns to walk again. They said it is minimum 4-6 months at most 1 yr she will need full time care). So I need to grow what I already have.
What you should do is open a store selling Amazon liquidation like Lindy Glenn in Kansas. Like a bin store she's buying truckloads Doing great with it. Can sell lot of it online.

I think when you buy from swapmeets, open markets, not everyone gives a receipt. The vendors don't hv time to always make receipts. I hv asked for receipts and a few laugh when I buy a lot. Not our time to judge or insinuate otherwise.
1. If their hands are tied and they banned you because a company forced them to....yeah, that's an issue. Like, a lawsuit level issue.
2. You're looking at the store option the wrong way. The goal isn't to sell to your followers. The point is your followers will be key to getting the word out about your store. It's a great advantage most people don't have.

You are so right! I have worked my full time job for 25 years and just recently quit my second job that I worked for 15 years. I was burned out and physically falling apart. I am now struggling financially and want to sell some stuff on eBay for extra money but I’m afraid. I can’t afford to get scammed by a buyer. Good luck to you whatever you do in the future.
I'd say go for it! My advice would be to avoid selling electronics, list every imperfection, and most importantly take good pictures showing any flaws. It will help you immensely! I have really good luck selling vintage/antique items. It seems buyers who are searching for "used" older items expect small flaws and such. If you do decide to sell electronics selling them for parts always goes good, I have never got a return on an item sold for parts because they are expecting it to not be working and are usually looking to repair/part it out for other similar items. Never upsell your items, be real about what it is. Yeah returns can really suck but once you get your system down they decrease significantly. Good luck! Even with all the bad talk about ebay it has paid off over and over and has really helped my husband and I make extra money. I'm a stay at home mom and it allows me to be with my kids and still make money which is amazing. It's totally worth it I'm telling you despite what happened to daily refinement.

@@donnasmith7188 That's a great place to start! I've made a decent amount of money selling things around my house that were not sourced. My husband had a huge container of comics, I went through them and sold 2 comics for $140 and another for $35 so for 3 comics that were free and given to him as a kid there was $175 that has just been sitting around. He also had vintage t-shirts that were his dad's and no longer fit either of them and sold them and made $70 some bucks so starting with things around the house is the best way to go if you want to dabble into it and see how it goes for you. I've been doing it about a year and a half now and although I don't have a huge store it really has helped and I don't plan on stopping. It's work and takes motivation but what's cool is we can do it in our own time at our own pace.

A successful reseller should be successful in any environment at any platform - you should be able to succeed anywhere as long as you keep following the process.
Someone complained or had issues with you and/or your high-end products. For whatever reason. If Ebay is asking for your invoices (proof of purchase) then they have issues with your claim to rightful ownership. Ebay is in the same type of business as any other company. Simply put, they are in "the money making" business. The way I see it, one two things occurred. Someone with clout or high in the food chain had issues with you or an immediate family member. I guess they could have been jealous you were getting all the best shoes business. You probably, have a few potential individuals in mind. The who or who did it, will surface.
On the other hand, if there is even a remote chance of criminal impropriety, then your "right to remain silent" is recommended.
In closing, I personally found your videos very helpful. Your commitment to success is obvious. Unlike, countless 'snake oil salesmen' offering free advise while at the same time validating your credit card are out there. In my opinion, you sir, are not one those. Your efforts are genuine. For that, thank-you!

I believe the best way you can hurt eBay and have them respect you is to create a online store and see if you can get a lot of people who are following you to open a store along with you in a group store. Then compete against eBay. Because they will watch you and your followers grow and be making money and how much will eBay be getting? 0
This will be helping you and others at the same time. While all eBay can do is wishing they had a cut of that money.
This all could have been prevented with simple communication from eBay and you. Now they the baby out with the bath water.

I think eBay should review their suspension policies. For example, unless someone does something illegal the seller should be restored within a few months or a year. Why not suspend for example for 6 months to a year and then allow the seller to start over? It seems that eBay is being too harsh. It makes you wonder if this is the best platform to build a sustainable business, something to pass on as a legacy. I think it is time for you to build your own brand and own store online. You can use UA-cam and Facebook ads to build your brand.
eBay has been demanding that we start selling more big end and less small stuff, but set no rules for sellers. 19 years selling on eBay, and for the last 3 years they have not given a crap about their sellers. eBay employee told me they were going to fix a issue we had with customer, and 3 weeks later nothing.

You're thought that most sellers are safe is questionable. I disagree with it completely. Ebay has a systemic rot growing from within. Anytime someone has the idea they're never wrong (like ebay) it will hurt them.
In addition to the suspended account we've had other issues and not a single one was resolved correctly or even addressed in a proffesional manner. Not a single one. They are not to be trusted. They take their fees and act as though you're privileged to use their platform. That's not what the fees are for.

They do the same thing with the VERO items. They have to have the technology to restrict listings that would violate those policies but I think they look to get the profit while they can until a company complains about the listing. I have gotten vero notifications months after I sold the item so they were happy to keep fees and reprimand the seller to appease the big companies.

You should come up with a reseller starting kit. Comes with your handbook the reselling class you offer like 10 items and the proper mailing material. Someone invests in the starter pack and explains each process while they do it.
You are really the best out there and I hope u keep doing what u did. eBay is not the only one out here. Also Mercari is cool and u can have in Mercari unlimited drafts and they do not delete after 30 days like eBay. U can become a big seller there as well . It’s not as bad as u think many items sell there faster then on eBay and fees are ok. I’m excited for Sunday to see how your boxes sell.

I enjoyed working in an Amazon warehouse. For some extra cash. For a living would be terrible. For extra Cash it’s like getting paid to work out.
If you bought private collections of shoes you should have some paperwork to show Ebay. That would be like an invoice. If not, then maybe ebay does have good reason to question to legitimacy of your goods. If you had multiple warnings...
If your merchandise was authenticated, why does it matter where you got them? It sounds like ebay wants certain sellers to have a monopoly which seems illegal.

eBay is tough. I own/operate a wholesale business but we also do eBay to balance things. A couple years ago my account was restricted, nothing I did to cause it, but I never got it back. They wouldn’t cancel my store membership either, couldn’t get ahold of anyone during 2020 due to Covid. I gave up on eBay and started using other platforms. Recently, about three months ago, I started a new eBay account. It’s taken off quickly, sales are great. Hit with two counterfeit item restrictions almost back to back and currently finishing a 10 day suspension. I’ve sold no counterfeit items, my listings were reported by another user, probably a competitor. But eBay doesn’t care to provide sellers with any customer service, doesn’t matter if you’re selling thousands per week or millions. That is the worst part of selling on eBay, terrible customer service. Not to mention the amount of scammers that use eBay to take money from you. We need a new platform similar to eBay with better customer service for sellers. Mercari is too slow, I don’t care for the Platform much.
Daily change is good. He’s still has wealth of knowledge n skills to transfer to any platform.

Hey Chris, I’ve been a newer viewer of Daily Refinement. Though this is sad, I’m excited for what the channel will have in your next chapter. I’d say Offer Up is a possible 3rd to eBay and Amazon. You can sell local and across the country. I’ve used and made decent passive income.
eBay has to answer to a higher authority, the payment processor. Chris you would benefit from your own payment processor at your stage. But the banks run the processors and like you say, there are different levels for different amounts of money processed. Given the numbers your processing, the processor most likely flagged you and alerted eBay. eBay can’t risk there processors so they must comply. Given how much you e put into marketing, why not your own website? And your own processor. Hire a marketing person in trade for the fees you have eBay and market yourself? I’m new to eBay and just coming in as this is happening. No matter what you do, given your skill set, you will succeed. Thank you for opening your life to us to learn from.
