Yeah I remember that Ichiro one. I think that was the only time he was ever ejected from a game. You know you fucked up when Ichiro shows that much "emotion" to a bad call.
I heard a story years ago about a pitcher complaining about balls and strikes. Supposedly he was a rookie or very young, was pitching to Ted Williams and the ump told the pitcher that if Mr Williams doesn’t swing at it, it’s got to be a ball. I feel the same with Ichiro; the guy VERY rarely argues with umpires so if he’s drawing a line the umpire missed the call, and probably a couple of others too.
I can't even imagine what a player feels when they find out that Angel Hernandez is running the crew that day. You just know you're going to be subject to so so many bad calls
A lot of Umpires really wear their emotions on their sleeves and really do have huge egos, they need to check those at the door and officiate games in strictly a fair and impartial manner and also they need to correctly pick their battles and admit they’ve made errors in judgment upon a call they’ve made and own up to it.
yes egos have a lot to do with it because its the control thing, they really are meaningless in games because the baseball players are the stars of the show, but the umps actually think they are in control of the game. It applies to a lot of people who really don't have jobs but have that little bit of control and nothing else. rent-a-cops, security guards, people like loading dock managers. You know how many rent-a-cops and building security guards i run into who want to throw their weight around when im doing deliveries, until i call up the property managers waiting on their stuff and the little nothing-guards get their necks stepped on.
Problem is, a ruling is final even if it is wrong. The ump can't backtrack because he saw it as he called it. He can't unsee what he saw. Now, a player gets angry and the umps hands are tied.
@Jonny Moon I mean, at the end of the day umpires will make mistakes, that's a fact, although Angel Hernandez has had problems losing his shit and charging the mound(yes he charged once to toss someone). I have no problem with female umpires, but it's a individual behavior problem, not a gender behavioral issue
Ichiro is definitely a top 5 baseball mind of all-time. He took average talent and combined it with incredible baseball intelligence and dedication to become one of the best hitters of all-time.
Lol...average??? Have you ever seen this man throw? And, how about his time from the box to first base? Nothing average about Ichiro Suzuki at all. Your knowledge of athleticism is well below average at best.
Absolutely nothing average about Ichiro‘s athletic ability. He has one of the greatest throws in baseball history and was one of the best batters in baseball history and he was also lightning fast to first base.
Playing fast pitch softball years ago the umpire made a horrific call on me for a called third strike. I turned to him and gave him my bat and told him, "here you swing at that". He tossed me out of the game.
@@rickt9569 there's this idiot in our league who is fit but wears skin-toght under armor, an elbow guard, thinks he's mike trout and tries to walk every at bat. As long as you aren't him ur ok in my book 🤣
Truth is we love the unpredictability (to a certain extent) and we love the entertainment of watching guys get tossed. Angel Hernandez is the only guy that should be replaced by a robot. Everyone else can stay.
If Ichiro says it’s a ball, I can guarantee it’s a ball. I’ve watched thousands of Mariners games in my life and he rarely argued and when he did, he was right.
If Ichiro has an issue with an Ump, then you know the Ump is wrong. It's similar to Blackmon and Kinsler. Those guys don't normally lose their cool when an Ump sometimes expands the Strike Zone. But back to Ichiro, the man knows the Strike Zone (or used to anyway) down to the millimeter. One of very few that did. He better be inducted into the Hall of Fame soon else I might have to start a riot lol.
It may be tooting my own horn, but I remember being at bat once and the pitch to me was so low, it almost hit the ground. Ump called it a strike. I asked if we were playing baseball or golf because a club was the only way I could have hit that. He didn't appreciate the joke.
I got tossed once for telling an ump, who called a strike on a pitch that bounced in front of the catcher. "yeah, I didn't see it either, guess we both need glasses..."
May we give thanks to these umps for giving us errors to troubleshoot for a future of robot umpires, and an abolishment of egotistical geriatrics in the game.
When I was a boy growing up in Boston there was a centerfielder by the name of Jimmy Piersall who was a bit crazy and had a temper. Once after getting a call 3rd strike that was waaaay outside, Jimmy promptly reached into his back pocket, pulled out a water pistol and squirted a circle around the plate. He was immediately ejected and had to be restrained. I'll never forget it.
My dad, rest his soul, used to tell me great Jimmy Piersall stories. Didn't he run around the bases backwards one time after a homerun? Hey, did you ever see Harry Agannis play? My dad said he would have been one of the great ones but he got sick and died at the age of 25.
It should cost an umpire a syspension and gine for tissing a catcher for "holding" the ball "too long". That was the lamest. most pathetic csll ever. And saying, " well, he was showing him up" and defending him is even more pathetic...

He said, “Mr. Williams will let you know when you throw a strike.”
Damn ichiro drew the line exactly where the ball was
I think this video should be renamed to “Players being upset that umpires suck at their job”
Lol bet
@@stevzky Except it isnt just them getting the calls wrong, they knowingly give bad ones to "keep the game interesting".
Yep, it's just failed baseball players telling pros how to play.
Ichiro is a baseball tracking computer, and hes super chill, ump had to be embarrassed by that rofl
those last 2 clips had me in tears laughing.
Ichiro’s vision is so good, he knows exactly where the pitch goes and can still bloop it to left if he wanted too... 🤣
Call it wishful thinking, but sometimes I think it’d be nice if there was a tradition in baseball of charging the Ump, like charging the mound.
Hahah that's funny
I would like to see a rule where if both teams think a ref is shit, they can agree to toss him
@@gregorymckenzie7029 just was thinking this. I’d love to see umps get tossed
If you win the ump gets ejected, if the ump wins you get ejected.
He took average talent and combined it with incredible baseball intelligence and dedication to become one of the best hitters of all-time.
...and ichiro rarely walked... Never begging for calls !?
Average talent? He has a superhuman throw

I got booted out of an old man slow pitch softball game for doing the same thing ichiro did haha

Never thought i would enjoy this so much
Perfect example of why we should eliminate the umpire's opinion and use the damn tech we have.

Why do the umpires have such tender ego's when they obviously need to see the eye Doc 🤭🤭🤭
Because they are bitter they arnt good enough to play.
The Phillies' organist was ejected for playing "three blind mice" once when the umps walked onto the field...priceless!!

buckzz yeah but he draw the line where the ball is. And that is automatic ejections for doing that.
Blackmon's strikeout in this video was a strike though.
Angel Hernandez will be looked upon in history as a turning point and catalyst into the pitch-trax.
And likewise his name is the most well known in umpiring history. Best umpires, refs, officials in any sport are anonymous.
Damn ichiro has really good eyes. He pointed the bat exactly where the ball went.
“AND HE’S WALKING AWAY WITH THE FIRST BASE BAG.” For some reason that’ll always be funny to me.
"he points a line in the dirt and that's a no no" lol what. dude's out here raw-dogging umpire boot
It's cool knowing I saw the Blackmon ejection live and seeing it here. Nothing about the game was memorable, except that ejection.
If ichiro says it's a ball, it's a ball
May we give thanks to these umps for giving us errors to troubleshoot for a future of robot umpires, and an abolishment of egotistical geriatrics in the game.
Empires are like politicians, when you tell them they were wrong they kick you out.
4:09 that’s a whole new definition of stealing the base
Ok i’ll leave now
Nah, that was funny 👍
The pirates robbed 1st base
When I was a boy growing up in Boston there was a centerfielder by the name of Jimmy Piersall who was a bit crazy and had a temper. Once after getting a call 3rd strike
that was waaaay outside, Jimmy promptly reached into his back pocket, pulled out a water pistol and squirted a circle around the plate. He was immediately ejected and
had to be restrained. I'll never forget it.
Yep. That was classic Jimmy Pearsall
My dad, rest his soul, used to tell me great Jimmy Piersall stories. Didn't he run around the bases backwards one time after a homerun? Hey, did you ever
see Harry Agannis play? My dad said he would have been one of the great ones but he got sick and died at the age of 25.
I met Ted Lepcio once, ( he worked with my sis in law). He was Piersall's teammate, and kept him from getting his ass kicked by his own teammates.
Ichiro drew the line exactly where the ball went over. No exaggeration...exactly where the ball was so there you go dumpire.
If Ichiro got mad at me for a strike, I'd thank him - not throw him out.
As far as calling balls and strikes goes, Ichiro would make a solid umpire behind the plate.
That call on Blackmon was so close you can barely argue it. That moment in the game that’s too close to watch go by
Ichiro don't argue just to argue.
He was spot on correct.
Baseball umpires are all Eric Cartman's "YOu must respect my author-a-tie!!"
We need instant replay in baseball. That would take a snail's pace game into a glacial epoch.
Tbh, good for them. Happy some people actually decided to stand up for themselves
Will forever love the catcher protecting his pitcher at 2:00 or so
It should cost an umpire a syspension and gine for tissing a catcher for "holding" the ball "too long". That was the lamest. most pathetic csll ever. And saying, " well, he was showing him up" and defending him is even more pathetic...
Watching some of these got me fired up!
Ichiro can spot ants in the dark.
As many times as Angel has blown calls, I'm surprised he hasn't pissed someone off enough for them to take a bat across his head. You know... to correct his eyesight. Would almost be worth it.
Watching this you’d almost get the impression that MLB umpires don’t always know exactly what they’re doing
At 3:10 it kinda looks like he is giving him the bird😂
Wait that’s now what he’s doing?
Yeah he gave him the finger
@Ll L oh ok
@Ll L Same here till I rewinded it😂
Literally what can that ump say to Ichiro....Ichiro is a hitting god. 10 seasons of 200+ hits in a season, in a row....Ump you were completely wrong there
Imagine being paid to help a team as a ump. All you have to do is call random strikes then eject someone when they hurt your feelings.
I can see how Ichiro right, by the line he drew on the ground and the replay-video.
Just get rid of the umps and let computers call the strike zone
Then they'll just have different things to complain about. MLB has been testing an automated strike zone in the Atlantic League.
Is that what you are wishing for: www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/look-robotic-umpire-makes-awful-strike-call/ar-AALYriJ?li=BBnbfcL
@@shugo1047 Of course there are going to be missed calls, umpires are human. But AI is not ready as evidenced by what is happening in the Atlantic League. The first clip of Ichiro drawing the line is an immediate ejection at all levels of baseball from LL on up through MLB. Umpires don't get emotional, they simply are not required to tolerate temper tantrums by spoiled players. My belief is that it would be difficult for a single umpire to intentionally make bad calls because the rest of the crew would know it. Can you document any umpires being bribed in modern baseball?
@@shugo1047 I do appreciate your civil response, not often found on you tube. Umpires are under a lot of pressure but they are no different than any other group of people.
