I'm glad my honda passport is a manual transmission made by isuzu. They are like honda civic manual transmissions Bullet proof! Haven't had any issues with oil burning or overheating just normal wear and tear now at 207000 miles. I get what you mean by aftermarket support. But just regular parts for it, they are everywhere! I just upgraded my whole headlight assembly from a 98 to a 04 looks like a new car again. At the end of the day I don't care what it's as long as it fits my wants and needs. I actually think it's more cool seeing a rare unique car than the typical 4runner boring! Feel proud that you have a rare gem not something normal.
I do feel proud! 😁 I love this thing, I just wish it would get more appreciation for what it is. I'm at 209k, right there with you. Thank you for watching!
For the record, I do not hate my Passport. I really love this thing. I struggled to think of things to list about what I hate about it. It was quite a stretch. Check out my other video about the 5 Things I LOVE about it - ua-cam.com/video/DvE77cBiPfw/v-deo.html
Always always always gotta give props to the original passport! Great stuff man! When will be seeing footage from the JT trip? Lookin' forward to that!
Thank you! and it's slowly coming along. It's more regular footage type and not so much story structure. I wish we got more shots of everyone. It was difficult keeping up with such a large group on a narrow trail. I would like to make another one out there
Grid Line Go yea it’s definitely a challenge to get footage or photos when you go with a large group. Would love to see what you do with it though if you choose to use it!
I know I just happen to be unlucky with the Rodeo I picked up but I definitely hate that my frame is trashed. Rear trailing arm bracket is about ready to let loose on the passenger side and there no way to fix it without lifting my body😭
I think the ideal Rodeo would be the 1992 year, with Toyota axles swapped in. I have the 1992 5 speed and I don't have any of these issues, except for it not being a 4runner, which is exactly why I wanted it....best year ever. Also, the earlier Isuzus had more part interchange with Chevy, so parts are more available.
Regular replacement parts are easy to come by, it's primarily the aftermarket performance and upgrade type. I think I just wish there were more aftermarket lift kit and control arm upgrades available
@@GridLineGo yes, there is almost no aftermarket parts available. This model was sold by inumerous brands and names all arround the world, here in Europe was sold as Opel/Vauxhall Frontera and available with an 2.2l 4 cilinders diesel unit, i think in Japan where also available an diesel option but the 3.0l
My 2001 Honda passport has low power, not responding to throttle openings and the right hand bank has low power when you disconnect the plug wires you don't have any change in engine operation. What might be the case. It had check engine light on before it stopped responding to throttle openings. lt is an electronic v6 3.2l engine .
Yeah the aftermarket support it's limited and you have to be creative. I going to make my 2 inch lift with new arms in the front an linkages in the back a 2 inch drop in the front dif.,and cost me around $550 Im looking also to swap the ECU for a haltech elite 2000 and put a turbo in it ahhaa I love the car and I just want the poser I know this car needs.. I whish there was a Gen 2 rodeo here they look soo good but my Gen 2 still a beauty
A turbo on these would be so cool! They do lack a little power when loaded down and that would be a major improvement. I love the non US models too, to me, they are unique because they aren't here 😂
@@GridLineGo yeah they are soo cool here is mine as it sits rn. ibb.co/PzLdqf7 hopefully after all of this covid thing passes i can do the lift kit an tyres can u pls helptme with ur wheels and tyres specs i like that way ur's looks like cheer hope to see more video of your car off roading and testing its capabilities cheers
Just for info, the 3.2 is factory set to run around 8 to 900 rpm, not sure why, but thats in the book, My only complaint about my Passport is, it's only two wheel drive, and I'm told when the starter goes out, its a pain to change.
@@billmitchell2932 It is a pain! I paid $340.00 to have mine done, and that's with the starter I bought! My gas gauge is up and down! I can fill it up, and after so many miles it will drop to empty. Then it will read 1/2, and empty! I have to guess when to put gas in it!
@@davidregan9872 so far I've not found to many things difficult to fix on mine, just changed the rack and pinion and all ball joints, I'm told the fuel regulator is a pain, guess I'll know soon, I have to wait in the run position for a second or so before starting or it's hard to start, guessing the regulator is not holding pressure, maybe I should check the fuel pump and filter first, probably easier then the regulator. Lol
What is something you HATE about your Offroading / Camping / Overlanding rig?

#1 was surprising. I thought it would have more parts availability because of both Honda and Isuzu support. Good info.

@@GridLineGo have you looked at rocky road outfitters and independent4x ?
@@Cz82 Yes I have 👍 great brands and companies!
@@GridLineGo Yeah I think since it is about the same cost to do a solid axle swap, most guys opt for that instead of the ifs lift kit.
First thing i did when i got my 2000 rodeo was to cut out the lower lumber bump cushion in both the driver & passenger seat.
I've definitely gotten punched in the side by those on the trail before, they hurt! That's a good idea actually
@@GridLineGo it made a night and day difference in comfort for me. It's easier than it sounds to do.

what about engine wise? any common issues
Besides burning oil like any other old engine, not really
i agree 100% with your #1!!

How about the constant oil burning😂
I've come to peace with the oil burning, I don't mind it as much as I used too 🤣

My Honduzu engine idles high in park and neutral and overheats.. any ideas why
There could be several different reasons for both your concerns. Is your Check Engine Light on and what codes do you have?
