- :CORRECTION: I refer to the JK pinion as a 26 spline, it is a 24 spline NOT a 26.
Isuzu pinion - 29 Spline
JK pinion/flange - 24 Spline
In this episode I brush over the next couple steps into the Honduzu's developmental stage. Currently in the works, is re-gearing the differentials and transfer case. The transfer case is a swap from a Trooper with a mechanical T Case unlike my auto/electrical T Case. Less electronics, the better! It is getting a 3:1! The rear diff will be getting Jeep JK 4.56 G2 gears and an ARB differential air locker. After that, on to tech! The interior is 22 years old new and needs a bit of an update. So I plan to add a new head unit and upgrade the speaker system. Stick around! Thanks for watching!
Try to run oem cvs, add a diff drop, and you won’t be breaking any cvs with the locker. Being fully locked is just a whole new world.
Super excited for this content, especially the 4.56 re-gearing. Great to hear about how you're doing the Jeep JK gears and using a conversion for the splines. I've always wanted to do this on my 99 Passport but haven't quite known where to get started since I haven't found much information on this topic. Thanks!
I'm glad it helped! I've been doing a lot of research on regearing the rear, the front was easy enough. Ill keep you all updated when it is all done. Thanks for watching! Please consider subscribing if you haven't already, thank you 👍
@@GridLineGo When you were going to do the re-gearing, were you planning on re-gearing the front too? I've been calling around and no one seems to know what the front axle actually is in order to re-gear it. If you are only re-gearing the rear, are you planning on using 4wd with two differing gear ratios (front and rear)?
@@yourfriendgary They will be matching 4.56 gears. I got the front differential from 91 Trooper. It has 4.56 gears originally. So by swapping the while diff itself is regearing. As far as I am aware, there isn't a company or offers an aftermarket gearset for these differentials. Great question 👍
I've got a 2001 passport and was thinking about getting into offroading
Its a great vehicle to start with 👍
Curious to hear your take on this, since there's a large variance in opinion: I generally like to think of the front locker as a boost in strength, since it makes it impossible to shock-load the CV's. It increases the load on them (maybe) in the cases when you have just one CV pulling the weight of the vehicle though. I kinda see it both ways.
Additionally, do you think locking the rear is the first way to go in terms of capability? That's another interesting one, its certainly more popular as an OE optoin. I went with the front lokka cause it was by far the cheapest option, but lokka surprisingly recommends (generally) locking the front first (See Question 10 lokka.com/faq). Curious to hear your take :)
I think that's a fantastic question! In fact, I think I'll make a video about my reasoning 👍 please stand by!
@@GridLineGo Awesome! Can't wait to see it!
Hey sorry I know this is an update on the Honda but do u have more content planned on the focus I love Frankie and hope you got more planned with her
I do. Although, It will more than likely trickle in. I don't drive the car super often
@@GridLineGo ok thats fine I'm just glade your still planning on making content with her Frankie makes me want to build my 07 SES and its nice seeing someone that shares a passion for these little cars cause were I live if it ain't muscle or a fucking civic its not cool
Any plans for roof top tent in the future ?
In fact, yes! I'm still doing some research on which one would be best for us (me and my wife) And it will probably spend most of its time on my wife's Jeep 😄 I do plan on making it easily interchangeable so I can take it myself
@@GridLineGo will your roof rack support RTT plus occupants ? Trying to figure a set up for 1994 Passport soo hard as aftermarket for Isuzu is super limited . You have a great channel ! Would love to do Sedona with our Passports as I live in Flagstaff.
@@tomaszwasniowski7122 It absolutely will, it is very strong and well secured. I would be than happy to meet you in Sedona! I loved that trip! I want to go back a make a video about some of the trails and camping there. It was so beautiful! Be sure to follow me on Instagram if you aren't already, I do have plans to go back out there this year. I'll send out a notification on IG and hopefully the timing will work out 👍
@@GridLineGo awesome I certainly hope we could do that !
You're less likely to break a CV with a front locker... Because you dont need as much momentum and wheel spin is greatly reduced.
I don't know if I can get on board with that fully...I plan on making an in-depth video on why I won't do a front locker and why I chose just the rear
@@GridLineGo there are few pros to a open front diff. The only time a auto locker front hurt me in deep snow wheeling and that was in not wanting to track straight but i could still go further. In one of the weakest front diffs made, A dana 35 IFS in a gen1 durango. I'll stick to the Aussies off roading logic and knowledge forever on this one while also not destroying trails with open diffs
@@cz75tactical9 It does keep trail damage down, that is true. If I were to do a front locker, it would definitely be a selectable locker. And for that reason too. I've thought extensively about a front locker, don't get me wrong, they're great, but for the price of the one that I would get, I haven't found my self (thankfully) in many instances where I thought to myself "Yeah, a front locker would be great right now. I should have spent the extra grand on one" I'm not in the position where Ill install a front locker, not use it until I absolutely need to, for that price.
What’s mods did you do to your 06’ focus st? Also how many miles do you have have on the engine?
Megan Racing Coilovers, SVT rear sway bar, FSWERKS lower sub brace, Massive BSD, FSWERKS Stage 2 Turbo kit, Cosworth Intake Manifold, Exedy Stage 1 lightweight clutch 👍
You will appreciate driving more after you replace the stock OEM Radio with a modern digital touchscreen radio
I can't wait! 😁
