- We venture to the island of Maui for some exploration, family activities and spearfishing off the beach. Zach and I wing it and dive some beautiful reed right off a random beach in Hawaii and come across some pretty cool critters and fish. We had the opportunity at a Uku, but did manage to shoot a Kala (unicorn fish) and cook it up for lunch!

Hi Kelly and Zack, hearing those whales in the background was so crazy cool. Wonder what they would do if they came across you both? Like the different sea urchins also. That scallop was the biggest one I've ever seen! The turtles also. They're not afraid of people. That's good. You're going to have a long flight back to Florida.

I was able to snorkle with some large turtles and two cuttlefish when i went to maui. One of the best experiences of my life.

Really beautiful over there. I was stationed there 86-89, but only made it to three of them. Although it rained almost every evening, but that's what makes all the lush landscape and pretty flowers bloom. So many people always told me how lucky I was getting that duty station. But they haven't seen it anywhere near to the way I experienced it.... not fun at all period! Lol! Although my downtime was pretty awesome! Being in the military probably ruined it overall for me!😂😂 Anyway, thanks for taking us along with you and Zach. Brought back fond memories. GOD BLESS in everything you do! ❤️

Great easy going vid guys. Nice to see you both in a relaxed attitude, especially for you Kelly, considering all your traveling, diving, video and editing work.
Water clarity was perfect as was the diving scenery, fish, turtles etc. I'll steer clear of the eel. Whales singing is almost eerie, and very interestig to hear it. It came through fine n the video.
Your old guy friend here was surfing East coast in New England starting at 13 yrs old in 1963. My friend's older brother dropped us off at York Beach Maine (we were from the Boston area) and we rented big old "pop-out" boards (factory made 9' long I think) and had a blast. Water was cooold and our legs were getting blue but still fun.
In very small waves close to shore, I could grab the sides of the big board and do a head stand surfing.
We slept on the beach. I mostly stopped at 2O yrs 1970 but found a surf board on a beach base in Chu Lai Vietnam, and did a little surfing there. Biggest I've surfed in New England is storm surf at about 6' cresting, in September, so water temps comfortable.

They are such different creatures in the water, so graceful. When that one was swimming near the surface and put his head up to, I assume, get a breath of air - that was so neat! The turtles are protected and can't be harassed in Hawaii ❤ they don't feel threatened and love people.I have been to Maui several times and it's a beautiful island. The sinking feeling that I had every time I had to leave. Great video brought back memories.
The clear water there is something else. That moray eel was probably hunting octopus.
