If Angel Reese just Kept her mouth shut & didn’t attempt to try a mock CC, jump off the bench to Cheer Carter or anyone else who illegally fouled CC, then illegally fouled CC & called her names, then bragged that fans at games & tv were there because of her, she might not be receiving the backlashes. Her only asset is that as long as she’s under the basket & someone can get her the ball she has a 50/50 chance to score as long as she keeps getting her own missed rebounds. She’d be more well liked & praised if she just played her game, kept her hateful jealousy of CC under wraps. I think its funny how people are just now realizing Rees's limited offensive skills when it was obvious to anyone who actually watched Reese's games & didn't just look at the highlight reels. And even her offensive rebounding is not as impressive or helpful to her team when you realize Reese rarely passes those offensive rebounds she secures to any of her teammates even if they are much more open & instead just uses them for her own 2nd & 3rd shot attempts. Unfortunately, Reese also benefits from the WNBA being a league that has always favored overly physical play more than actual skill. And though I can appreciate aspects of Reese's game, I am just not a fan of her dirty play style. Though she is good at being sneaky about it, so it is not often called by refs, she so often flails her arms back into opponents neck & head or repeatedly jabs them in the chest with her elbows to get more space. I have also seen her trip opponents & even pull their hair.
@@tariqm9912 The hair pulling was in the SEC championship this year (LSU v SC). She did it twice in that game to Cardosa. The tripping, I saw her most recently do it during the last game against Seattle.
To be fair, Angel has put herself into those conversations... even though she doesn't belong. She draws fans by being her, but her court skills have never been off the chart except for her rebounding. I've said it many times, she is the Dennis Rodman on MJ's teams... she fits a role, but is just that a role player.
Reese went on a fame and fortune tour during the off season after 2023 at LSU. It is highly unlikely she worked on improving herself during the Olympic break. Her work ethic is not there at this point in time or so it seems. Caitlin added 10 pounds of muscle and worked out so much between her junior and senior years at Iowa. Caitlin is so much more motivated than Reese is. It has already paid off for Caitlin and will continue to do so.
At this point, Angel doesn't love, live or breathe basketball. It is a stepping stone for her. She wants to be the black Kim Kardashian. THAT is her ultimate goal.

It’s not that complicated. Angel’s finishing isn’t all that good half the time and she rebounds a lot of her missed layups. Even in her position she isn’t top 5 while Clark is arguably top 5 in her position so far and a potential candidate for mvp in a year or two
Angel is a very good player. The disconnect is that she is touted for her rebounding (especially offensive) when so many of them come from her very poor shooting. So if she made more of her shots, her rebounding stats would suffer. And let's be real, she is not in the same league as Caitlin. But really, no one is. I believe that if Caitlin doesn't suffer a major injury in her career, she will go down as the GOAT. And Angel certainly isn't in that conversation.

Her finishing is horrendous in the 8 minutes clip of her missed layups there is a play where she manages to get her rebound 3 times and the ball finishes in the hands of the opposing team after that. How can you manage to shoot the ball 4 times under the rim and not score a basket at a professional level.

Well getting a double- double in the WNBA is more difficult because the scoring and rebounding numbers are scaled back from the NBA, so like averaging 16 points a game in the W is like averaging 22 a game in the N, so Reese is basically getting 10+ rebs the NBA equivalent of 13+ rebounds a game which takes more effort in the W because the Pace of play is Slower that's a good thing for her

After watching the game last night, I would say if there was a scouting report it said force the team to give the ball to Angel. She didn't look good overall, although she had her moments. If she improves her shooting, her Double Double will end because that is what is inflating her rebound numbers. If she really wants to be talked about in the same sentence as Caitlin, then she really needs to work on her skill sets in the off season. Now I'm wondering about her work ethic. All the great players are known for their work ethic (first end and last out).
This is updated after last nights game: Angel Reese has now had her shot rejected 59 times in 25 games with 15 games left, the record was previously held by Natalie Williams who had her shot rejected 53 times in 34 games. I cannot narrow down the exact year this record was set, but Natalie played in the WNBA from 1999 to 2005. This was updated from 54 rejections before the all-star break to include Angel’s 5 rejected shots against the Mercury on 8-15-2024 I don't hate angel and this has zero to do with race, I would take Jonquel over her, I only post these results to hopefully stop the foolish talk about the ROTY race. 44% in the paint. She almost always misses her shots from 3' to 8' from the basket. So every time she shoots she gets her own rebound and puts it up again. I saw one game where she shot at the basket four times and made the fourth one. So in that instance, she got three rebounds credit on one basket made.
She averages 74% from FT and while she does rebound her own misses so do other bigs like Boston, my criticism of AR is putting up shots with 2-3 players on top of her instead of passing to an open perimeter shooter.
"Advanced" stats are only for players who don't pass the eye test. We see what we see on the floor, it doesn't lie. When that fails, people who are still trying to convince us we don't believe what we see with our own eyes, point to those advanced stats, which are heavily weighed to certain player profiles. Remember, those "advanced" stats are the same ones that ranked Celeste Taylor as the #1 rookie in the league and CC 5th or 6th.

I completely agree with you. I think people underestimated Angel before the draft and then overcompensated when they saw how proficient she was in rebounding. And her defense on some of the greats has been decent. Caitlin has made meteoric improvement - those early games honed her like steel and the gap just widens between them.
ESPN created this unfairness by trying to keep her neck to neck with CC, so we expect AG to keep up. They should acknowledge CC is the ROTY and let AG game speak for itself.
Reese went overboard on her double doubles which was a me me thing, Asking for the ball to keep the streak going in games they were losing in the last few seconds and even her own teammates were getting tired of it especially Carter who would not pass her the ball.

You need to preach this sermon to all of the pro Angel media members at ESPN. As long as the biased media crew is a threat to award Angel with the WOKE ROTY then you can expect the Fever staff to protect Caitlin’s interests. Caitlin has now entered the discussion as being one of the top 3 “point” guards in the W. The emphasis is on “point” and the skill sets and performance required to be a legitimate participant in that conversation are so much larger that the role that Angel plays. Clark is now starting to participate as a factor in the strategic growth of the league. This is going to be fun to watch. The resistance to Caitlin is coming from the old culture who recognize that their way is being replaced. It’s really simple, the NBA is tired of footing the bill and wants to make money. The arrival of Caitlin is the new wave that permits all of this to happen. Those that want to succeed need to recognize that change is here and that more change is coming - they need to get on the train or get out of town. Angel will continue to get hurt as long as she is projected into the ROTY conversation. But the people placing her into that conversation need to stop - but they won’t. Angel’s ego and immaturity do not permit her to recognize how she is being used and remove herself. A small side story. I was in Cleveland when LeBron was drafted and the Cavs were absolutely the worst - average attendance of 3-4K per game. It was clear to everyone watching that LeBron was special and that the team would be rebuilt around him. There was one player that was not buying LeBron at all since he felt he was the second coming and was quite vocal about it - he was never going to be #2 to a snot nosed high school player like LeBron who would quickly come and go like the rest of them. Well, we know how that story ended or is still ending. Does anybody remember Darius Miles? Thought so! Some of these players in the W that want to move out of their situations need to take some time to think it out. Their best opportunity could likely be to stay on the Fever and make the journey with Caitlin. Being a number 2 or 3 with a championship team is better than trying to be #1 on a team that will never be a championship team. Especially when many will not have the leadership mentality, game IQ, or broad playing skills to be an effective #1. So my advice is find out what the Fever need to build and dedicate yourself to making the adjustments required to succeed in the new environment. I’m surprised that more W players are not lining up for the opportunity. But, if you are a legend in your own mind? This will be very interesting to observe!! The rebounds are great and all, but they rarely turn into points for her team, meanwhile...her shooting percentage in the first three quarters last night was 12.5%. It doesn't help when she acts like a child. I'm not putting her down...she is a strong rebounder, yes....but as a player that impacts a team, nope.

Defense...CC leads all WNBA guards in rebounding and blocks, she leads Angel in blocks and steals, she leads all of WNBA in assists, as a point guard not a shooting guard she is 14th in scoring and Angel is 25th even with all the bunnies. Now let's talk the defensive pressure CC has faced this season - she herself has been blitzed more than any team in the WNBA and still leads the entire WNBA in points created (combined points scored and assists) Angel is a one trick pony. She is not even enough of a scoring threat to be doubled that much in the post - teams are willing to let her hang around the rim. Angel plays a good role whereas CC runs the entire Fever offense. Angel is really good at what she does, but to compare her overall game to CC and say she is a better player is just not realistic and in no way is she a better rookie is nuts. CC is in the MVP discussion no less ROTY. Though A'ja Wilson is hands down the MVP - no real question about that as she is the best player period.

I personally think it's dumb to talk about these two in the same vein, but she's the one who pushed for it. She wanted this attention and the WNBA media has put in lots of effort to make sure they keep downplaying Caitlin and propping her up a little extra then needed just to try and keep them around the same level in perception. She's going to continue to be scrutinized, just like Caitlin does. It comes with the territory of expecting to be in conversations about greats.

Let’s not act as AR is a victim here she had numerous occasions where she could have conceded that her game is good but Clark is just on another level. Nope. Instead she decided to lean into it by stat padding her bogus (I call it bogus because if it wasn’t for an error in reporting she would never have broken the record) double double streak. Last night she decided to stat pad again by scoring another double double in a lost cause. If it wasn’t enough she was called player of the game with horrendous scoring percentages in a 20 points defeat. Right now I feel like the owner of a pizza restaurant where an employee who is laying the cheese is trying to convince me that she is more important than the girl who does the whole pizza including laying the cheese but she is not as good at laying the cheese as the one who is trying to convince me. I am telling her look I think being able to do the whole pizza is more important. She turns around and say but you don’t get it I am really exceptional at laying the cheese. No YOU don’t get it it is more important for the efficiency of the restaurant to have someone who can make the whole pizza. This is pretty much how I feel about the ROTY award you are trying to convince me that a player that does only one thing exceptionally well is more important and more deserving than someone who does a lot of things exceptionally well and to top it all off is spectacular. Right now I am simply annoyed by the comparison that tells me that in away shape or form she should be in the same conversation for ROTY. I am just simply fed up of ESPN constantly trying to bring them in the same conversation by making up advanced statistics indicators and other faulty narratives in the hopes of propping AR. You can tell that A’ja is the clear winner for MVP where CC is poised to be in the top 5 candidates for MVP where AR should be winning over CC for ROTY. Enough with the faulty narrative this race has been like A’ja for MVP it was over a long time ago. She asked to be the villain. When you talk about the Joker, you need to talk about Batman. And reporters are always comparing them which makes fans have to stand up for the false narratives. Comparing them is stupid because they have different roles and talents. That’s like comparing CC to Wilson. Where are all her blocked shots? Where are all the double digit rebounds? I’d argue on the scouting reports. Look at last night. Who did the Mercury put on Reese? Cloud, who along with Copper are their best defenders. Every time that passed to Reese in the post Griner was there too and sometimes joined by a 3rd player. It was an obvious strategic move to not let Reese go off. Reese has no other all-stars to help with the scoring. Carter should have been one but she was out and Reese got the majority of the defensive pressure. She’ll adopt in time. She’s not a point guard so she doesn’t have to have mad handles, or be a deep threat or gather up assists anymore then CC has to get the tough rebounds in a clogged paint or defend the Wilsons and Stewie of the league or to score deep under the basket when she’s surrounded. Putting up with the basketball ignorance from these new fans is the most frustrating thing about this year. They don’t even no how they sound. Like who they like. I think its funny how people are just now realizing Rees's limited offensive skills when it was obvious to anyone who actually watched Reese's games & didn't just look at the highlight reels. And even her offensive rebounding is not as impressive or helpful to her team when you realize Reese rarely passes those offensive rebounds she secures to any of her teammates even if they are much more open & instead just uses them for her own 2nd & 3rd shot attempts.
Unfortunately, Reese also benefits from the WNBA being a league that has always favored overly physical play more than actual skill. And though I can appreciate aspects of Reese's game, I am just not a fan of her dirty play style. Though she is good at being sneaky about it, so it is not often called by refs, she so often flails her arms back into opponents neck & head or repeatedly jabs them in the chest with her elbows to get more space. I have also seen her trip opponents & even pull their hair.

Reese went on a fame and fortune tour during the off season after 2023 at LSU. It is highly unlikely she worked on improving herself during the Olympic break. Her work ethic is not there at this point in time or so it seems. Caitlin added 10 pounds of muscle and worked out so much between her junior and senior years at Iowa. Caitlin is so much more motivated than Reese is. It has already paid off for Caitlin and will continue to do so.
At this point, Angel doesn't love, live or breathe basketball. It is a stepping stone for her. She wants to be the black Kim Kardashian. THAT is her ultimate goal.

Angel is a very good player. The disconnect is that she is touted for her rebounding (especially offensive) when so many of them come from her very poor shooting. So if she made more of her shots, her rebounding stats would suffer. And let's be real, she is not in the same league as Caitlin. But really, no one is. I believe that if Caitlin doesn't suffer a major injury in her career, she will go down as the GOAT. And Angel certainly isn't in that conversation.

Well getting a double- double in the WNBA is more difficult because the scoring and rebounding numbers are scaled back from the NBA, so like averaging 16 points a game in the W is like averaging 22 a game in the N, so Reese is basically getting 10+ rebs the NBA equivalent of 13+ rebounds a game which takes more effort in the W because the Pace of play is Slower that's a good thing for her

After watching the game last night, I would say if there was a scouting report it said force the team to give the ball to Angel. She didn't look good overall, although she had her moments. If she improves her shooting, her Double Double will end because that is what is inflating her rebound numbers. If she really wants to be talked about in the same sentence as Caitlin, then she really needs to work on her skill sets in the off season. Now I'm wondering about her work ethic. All the great players are known for their work ethic (first end and last out).

She rebounds her own misses! 30% from free throw line?
44% in the paint. She almost always misses her shots from 3' to 8' from the basket. So every time she shoots she gets her own rebound and puts it up again. I saw one game where she shot at the basket four times and made the fourth one. So in that instance, she got three rebounds credit on one basket made.
She averages 74% from FT and while she does rebound her own misses so do other bigs like Boston, my criticism of AR is putting up shots with 2-3 players on top of her instead of passing to an open perimeter shooter.
"Advanced" stats are only for players who don't pass the eye test. We see what we see on the floor, it doesn't lie. When that fails, people who are still trying to convince us we don't believe what we see with our own eyes, point to those advanced stats, which are heavily weighed to certain player profiles. Remember, those "advanced" stats are the same ones that ranked Celeste Taylor as the #1 rookie in the league and CC 5th or 6th.

I completely agree with you. I think people underestimated Angel before the draft and then overcompensated when they saw how proficient she was in rebounding. And her defense on some of the greats has been decent. Caitlin has made meteoric improvement - those early games honed her like steel and the gap just widens between them.
ESPN created this unfairness by trying to keep her neck to neck with CC, so we expect AG to keep up. They should acknowledge CC is the ROTY and let AG game speak for itself.

You need to preach this sermon to all of the pro Angel media members at ESPN. As long as the biased media crew is a threat to award Angel with the WOKE ROTY then you can expect the Fever staff to protect Caitlin’s interests. Caitlin has now entered the discussion as being one of the top 3 “point” guards in the W. The emphasis is on “point” and the skill sets and performance required to be a legitimate participant in that conversation are so much larger that the role that Angel plays. Clark is now starting to participate as a factor in the strategic growth of the league. This is going to be fun to watch. The resistance to Caitlin is coming from the old culture who recognize that their way is being replaced. It’s really simple, the NBA is tired of footing the bill and wants to make money. The arrival of Caitlin is the new wave that permits all of this to happen. Those that want to succeed need to recognize that change is here and that more change is coming - they need to get on the train or get out of town. Angel will continue to get hurt as long as she is projected into the ROTY conversation. But the people placing her into that conversation need to stop - but they won’t. I was in Cleveland when LeBron was drafted and the Cavs were absolutely the worst - average attendance of 3-4K per game. It was clear to everyone watching that LeBron was special and that the team would be rebuilt around him. There was one player that was not buying LeBron at all since he felt he was the second coming and was quite vocal about it - he was never going to be #2 to a snot nosed high school player like LeBron who would quickly come and go like the rest of them. Well, we know how that story ended or is still ending. Does anybody remember Darius Miles? Thought so! Some of these players in the W that want to move out of their situations need to take some time to think it out. Their best opportunity could likely be to stay on the Fever and make the journey with Caitlin. Being a number 2 or 3 with a championship team is better than trying to be #1 on a team that will never be a championship team. Especially when many will not have the leadership mentality, game IQ, or broad playing skills to be an effective #1. So my advice is find out what the Fever need to build and dedicate yourself to making the adjustments required to succeed in the new environment. I’m surprised that more W players are not lining up for the opportunity. But, if you are a legend in your own mind? This will be very interesting to observe!! The rebounds are great and all, but they rarely turn into points for her team, meanwhile...her shooting percentage in the first three quarters last night was 12.5%. Defense...CC leads all WNBA guards in rebounding and blocks, she leads Angel in blocks and steals, she leads all of WNBA in assists, as a point guard not a shooting guard she is 14th in scoring and Angel is 25th even with all the bunnies. Now let's talk the defensive pressure CC has faced this season - she herself has been blitzed more than any team in the WNBA and still leads the entire WNBA in points created (combined points scored and assists) Angel is a one trick pony. She is not even enough of a scoring threat to be doubled that much in the post - teams are willing to let her hang around the rim. Angel plays a good role whereas CC runs the entire Fever offense. Angel is really good at what she does, but to compare her overall game to CC and say she is a better player is just not realistic and in no way is she a better rookie is nuts. CC is in the MVP discussion no less ROTY. Though A'ja Wilson is hands down the MVP - no real question about that as she is the best player period.

I personally think it's dumb to talk about these two in the same vein, but she's the one who pushed for it. Let’s not act as AR is a victim here she had numerous occasions where she could have conceded that her game is good but Clark is just on another level. Nope. This is just a comparison, so don’t jump on me, I am painting a picture. You would never compare Draymond Green to Steph Curry, if they came out the same year, even if Steph was off shooting wise, his rookie year but was showing off passing skills you never knew he had. I didn’t use Steve Nash, and Dennis Rodman but same idea. And so.. the more honest the comparison between AR and CC, the less crazy the AVERAGE CC fan, will react, not talking about the upper fringe.

She asked to be the villain. When you talk about the Joker, you need to talk about Batman. And reporters are always comparing them which makes fans have to stand up for the false narratives. And of course there is race discussions as well. Really anybody who is truly being objective should acknowledge that CC is a far better player than AR. And if people continue to try to give their BS narratives, then people have a right to speak up and give their opinions.

@@michelleblanc6377 Agree with that, CC is driving viewership and ticket sales and ticket prices, Angel not so much, but it is clear when Angel is on the floor her game has big impact. I think all the rookies have done really well.
You cant compare the two mainly because they play different positions. Angel is a good post player and caitlin is a good point guard....BUT are you really watching her play????She was 4-14 from the paint and 3-8 from the free throw line....really? I love her energy and if she could actually channel that into playing good post positions..she is not good offensively...WATCH her actually play......

Clark has never won a championship period. CC will face reality when Mitchell leaves next year. Clark has become a passer and not a scorer . Clark is a white hype.

Comparing them is stupid because they have different roles and talents. That’s like comparing CC to Wilson. Where are all her blocked shots? Where are all the double digit rebounds?
I’d argue on the scouting reports. Look at last night. Who did the Mercury put on Reese? Cloud, who along with Copper are their best defenders. Every time that passed to Reese in the post Griner was there too and sometimes joined by a 3rd player. It was an obvious strategic move to not let Reese go off.
Reese has no other all-stars to help with the scoring. Carter should have been one but she was out and Reese got the majority of the defensive pressure. She’ll adopt in time. She’s not a point guard so she doesn’t have to have mad handles, or be a deep threat or gather up assists anymore then CC has to get the tough rebounds in a clogged paint or defend the Wilsons and Stewie of the league or to score deep under the basket when she’s surrounded. Putting up with the basketball ignorance from these new fans is the most frustrating thing about this year. They don’t even no how they sound. Like who they like. Nothing wrong with that but putting down everyone else is toxic, and so thus they have been labeled.
