@Spudme The Eisteddfod us basically a festival with competitions celebrating the Welsh language and culture. It was held recently in Pontypridd. Primary schools used to hold their own version of it (not sure if they still do) and drawing the Welsh flag seems to be a standard activity.

For anyone interested in the background of the Wales flag (From a Welsh person!): To put it short, there was a white dragon and a red dragon at around AD 829. The white dragon tried to wipe out townsfolk after it and the red dragon were found in a lake, so the red dragon woke and fought it. They fought in Dinas Emrys, and eventually the Red Dragon one after the white dragon took to the sky. A little while later, Saint George kills the red dragon. Is the story true? No, probably not. But It's meant to symbolise the power of townsfolk and also the Saint George story is meant to teach a lesson that even though there is good in the world, there will always be some evil that tries to overcome it. (The official name of the red dragon is "Y Ddraig Goch" which is Welsh for "The Red Dragon"! Or it is sometimes called "Dragon of Cadwalader". The Welsh name for the white dragon is Y Ddraig Wen.) Also I can speak 3 languages; Welsh, English and Spanish! For more detail about why the flag is like that: The white is meant to represent Y Ddraig Wen taking to the sky and the green is meant to represent the ground or the townsfolk. The red dragon is in between the white and green to represent how it defended the townsfolk from Y Ddraig Wen!
Mexico flag related storytime: I remember that in elementary schools the kids used to stamp the eagle by putting a coin (that has it engraved) behind the paper and rubbing the pencil against it. At some point my school banned us form doing that because a teacher complained that we weren't learning how to draw it properly, and it was frustrating, because we used to think that way of tracing it was really smart and the teachers were just overcomplicating things for us. But now that I think of it, that actually looked bad, not just because the coin marked a circle too, but because all eagles were always the same size, so usually not proportional the actual size of our flags. Also, as a kid, every time I drew the snake I did it with little dot eyes and a little tongue sticking out, accidentally making it really derpy instead of menacing

True, Eswatini should've been 10th and San Marino should've been in the list being 8th place, I've already drawn the flag of San Marino before and it took me HOURS to make, it was for an art contest (Particularly Polandball aka countryballs) that had the deadline like 6 days after the announcement and I was questioning if I'd even finish my artwork before it, I was really anxious for a while, the artwork did turn out decent but I missed many small details that were on the flag and I don't know if I'll ever draw it again. (Alright, I've changed my opinion, Eswatini shouldn't even be on the list, it should've been Vatican City or smth-)

Tip for the wales flag (i am welsh. Born in wales) make it like skinner, and the neck a tad bit longer, its quite hard if you actually look at it properly. You still did amazing and tyy for drawing my countrys flag. (And btw wales isnt as fancy as people think 😂)

True, Eswatini should've been 10th and San Marino should've been in the list being 8th place, I've already drawn the flag of San Marino before and it took me HOURS to make, it was for an art contest (Particularly Polandball aka countryballs) that had the deadline like 6 days after the announcement and I was questioning if I'd even finish my artwork before it, I was really anxious for a while, the artwork did turn out decent but I missed many small details that were on the flag and I don't know if I'll ever draw it again. (Alright, I've changed my opinion, Eswatini shouldn't even be on the list, it should've been Vatican City or smth-)
