Too be honest, Michelle vs Benjamin is just a repetition of Christina vs Petrozza from Season 4 where Gordon will pick a younger woman who has less experience over a man on their 40's who has more experience and consistent throughout the competition. Coincidentally, both of Benjamin and Petrozza never been nominated by their teammates except Petrozza nominated himself because he realize he wasn't good enough at that time.

So, I have a theory as to why Nick got sniped out here. I think at that point, they wanted Michelle to win the season. Benjamin was practically the Purple Kelly of the season. Nick is the only one who could've given her a major run for her money in that finale. That actually could've been a good storyline, the two best friends from Season 14 going up against each other, one beating the other for the dream. Yet I think they knew if they sniped Nick out here, Michelle would have easy competition against Purple Benjamin, pick Nick first for her finale team, and easily win. And well, we saw what happened!

It looked to me like all 3 dishes in the final round were excellent, and it was clearly dangerously close that it could’ve gone either way. I don’t think there was any harm intended. People in the comments always do nothing but whine like kids and coddle one individual just for one occasion. All of us humans/adults, mind you, are created equally.

Yeah but I think the point many people are bringing across is that this is the first season where they introduced a final 3 instead of a final 2, and had people who werent chefs judge it, which is even more unfair. Especially since every single person in the final 4 said nick was the person they wanted to go up against. He was blindsided by this when he clearly was the best of the season, he had some mistakes but they were far and few. He was the most consistant throughout the entire season.

I don’t know why people make such a big deal about the judges not being chefs, you don’t have to be a culinary expert to recognize talent. Sure, they might not be as knowledgeable but you don’t have to be an expert to recognize what about a dish makes it excellent. I mean, we’ve seen high schoolers provide good critique and insight through the shows’s history so who’s to say these CEO’s aren’t capable of doing the same thing?

High schoolers don't have a nuanced enough palette. They can give critique but they don't necessarily understand all of the flavors and why they fit together.

Its the same though as saying Joe Bastianich shouldn't be a judge in Masterchef US. Its just dumb.

We've seen high schoolers and fashion designers act as judges, the difference is that their opinions didn't decide if a frontrunner got eliminated

@@Commenter839 Joe decided at least Masterchef S4, S5 and S9.

@@pfelipens8522 I never watched MasterChef, but looking it up I found that Joe Bastianich is a Michelin-starred chef who owns a bunch of restaurants and has plenty of experience. From that alone I wouldn't see the inherent issue with him being the deciding judge of a major challenge, since he clearly knows his stuff.
The guy who eliminated Nick has no culinary experience. All of his prior experiences lie in management and sales, with his most major job before Caesars being the CEO of a car rental company.
I think there's probably a reason this is the first and last time an elimination challenge was ever decided by a non-chef

You know who they are? The winner's potential boss and colleagues. Whiners forget that the prize is a position at the Hell's Kitchen in Caeser's Palace. So these people actually matter more than the opinions of other chefs. You don't have your interview, which this challenge essentially is, with someone from outside of the company. Yes, they might not have as exquisite of a palette as decorated chefs, but you know who also doesn't? Almost every employer in the restaurant industry.
