  • This is what I use if I want to travel light. I have a 9'x6' tarp made out of Tyvek. Instead of grommets, I use wooden beads that are fastened with a double-overhand knot noose. A basic overhand loop is staked down to the ground. I use a half pyramid pitch, which provides good protection. In case you are wondering, I use a clove hitch to secure the cord to my walking stick. I sleep inside a bivvy bag made out of Tyvek for extra body heat retention. The bag is simple rectangular construction, taped together with Tyvek tape with simple velcro closures. It goes under the tarp, so no need to completely water proof it.

Not bad at all! Need to get some of that tyvek or similar and try my self. Thanks for sharing!
