Thanks for watching, liking and subscribing! Did my best with this one but I just couldn't face anymore of it, let down by too many unusual design decisions!
Just played it and hands down one of the best games I've ever played. THe combat is really enjoyable, alot like Absolver, and the story is quite sweet and lighthearted . They made a big efford to really fletch out characters through voicelines throughout the gameplay, mostly between The protagonist and the boy, the voiceactors did an amazing job with this game as well. As someone who took 30h to beat the first bloodborne boss: The combat is totally manageable, at least if you take a little time to collect figurines etc. The ritual is skippable in almost any fight by just attacking, but gives the player a chance to give himself an advantage against strong enemies, and a weapon system (pretty much like zelda, breath of the WIld, just fewer of them) to deal more damage. The visuals are simply amazing, amazing characterdesign, worldbuilding, simply everything. Also, the devs added alot of orientational help and throughout my playthorugh I got lost only a single time, the game simply invites you to check out every corner to find materials or upgrades, as well as shortcuts (doors only unlockable from one side, drawbridges etc.) to allow for quick travel through already explored areas. The nightmode manages to work in alot more bossfights on the same map, while trying to switch up the aestethics of the day mode, which in my opinion, it does amazingly,.it allows you to open passages and retrieve your body to get a asecond chance + there's an entirely different system in place to equip your character. During the day, your character can only equip armor, which is bought from a trader (it unlocks mroe armor as the story progresses), while during nighttime, you can find and switch out entire bodyparts of your character. leveling up is done by spending collectable puppets of different variety on fighting stances (there are quite a few to choose from) and different special moves (Youz unlock them by finding totems and fighting their guardians). Also there are normal skillpoints for more basic stuff like Power, Endurance,... I'm not saying this game will be your kind of game, because it simply is unique in every aspect of itself. It combines a whole range of different ideas and mechanics which can be abit much at the beginning. But if you take your time with it and apreciate the level of love and detail the devs put into it, it's amazing from start to finish. PS: The artefact-concept is pretty much the driving factor behind a big portion of the plot of this game, which is introduced about 1/4 into the game. So given that this reviewer didn't even know about it REALLY tells you how much of a chance he gave this game lol
The game is not a Souls-Like at all. It's a third person brawler. Souls games are third person action RPGs. The two are fundamentally different and comparing them like this does a disservice towards both. If you keep trying to play this like a Souls game, you're going to never enjoy it because it isn't a Souls game. The Dice game isn't just RNG--the Tchaks chosen offer strategy to affect both your dice and the opponents, allowing for you to create builds solely for the dice game itself. Rolling well doesn't matter if the opponent can flip your sixes to ones and the same holds true for you. It's much less the 'RNG game' you've proposed it as and much more an information game where all the tools you and your opponent have can usually, at best, influence scores by up to 5 and you have to strategize tool use around the opponent's capabilities in order to shoot for a higher score. A major complaint here is that the combat doesn't quite gel but all of the video segments shown are full of the player wading into enemies and attacking haphazardly and trading blows. The game outright tells you that's going to end in death and that you need to rely on weaving in and out of combat. I hardly saw a single dodge-out into a directional attack in all the footage here, which is a real shame. Furthermore, when you attack like that, your stamina gauge is floored at zero, meaning you take 50% extra damage and stagger from all enemy attacks. Maybe you're having difficulty because you're not utilizing any of the core mechanics the game expects you to be playing with? The other big complaint you levy is a lack of direction--that's sort of the point? I love that the game lets you get lost and that it fundamentally has two game worlds between night and day, opening up lots of optional exploration that is often rewarded with powerful upgrades, artifacts, weapons, stances, and other treasures. Not having a lot of places to jump over to is really only an issue in a small segment of the earliest stages, so the complaint about invisible walls falls a bit flat, too. The map is not intended to be anything beyond a loose layout to let you know what zone you are in and how those zones fall relative to one another. This, again, is an intentional point of design, allowing the player to explore the zone rather than just follow the guide-rails. It's wild that you can't find any reason to keep going, given you've acknowledged the compelling and visually unique world of Zenozoik. I was constantly wanting to see what was around the next corner, though it helps that I also liked engaging with its combat systems so I welcomed fight variations and different combatants found. I'm loving the game, though I imagine a lot of journalists are going to slide right off of it due to the issues of it being its own game with its own systems that actually require engagement. I won't lie and say it isn't a bit of a janky experience but all of ACE Team's games are and, honestly, that only renders more charm for me.
😢 one of my most unpopular gaming options is that I wish Soulslikes had accessibility sliders like Dead Cells. I look at Dark Souls, see the lore, the stunning graphics and monsters and get upset I can’t play them because of my disability! No hate to those who can just wanted to add to some of Alex’s points in this review.
RPG ≠ souls like smh. It’s not a souls like. It’s more like a god of war 4/5 than a souls like. You have to actually avoid attacks instead of standing beside an enemy and button mashing because the dodge doesn’t have invincibility frames like in a souls like. Mfer complaining that Forza doesn’t have blue shells so he can’t play it because he expects games to all be clones and perfectly categorizeable to clickbate buzzwords.
@GrandLiftOfDectus no it's really simple actually, I didn't like that the game was crap. I'm sure they've patched some bits since this review but I doubt too much has changed. Plenty of reviews out there calling it a soulslike that you can go complain on. I know if I enjoyed a game that much I'd actually be just playing it and not hunting out reviews to complain on that differ from my opinion.
@@PlayStationCorner just killed wrehgg because I can learn a video game. With this video you have a cup head review where you can’t realize you need to dash jump posted on your Channel. If you aren’t able to give a game it’s due diligence then why publish the review? Leave that to a more skilled and professional reviewer who can.
Reviewer is playing it wrong. I’m half way through right now and this gameplay just looks like my nephew button mashing in smash. You’re supposed to bob and weave not dodge roll with Invincibility frames like you would in a souls like. If they played as its own thing to learn without expecting it to be a reskin of something else they would enjoy it. It’s more like a god of war 4/5 than a souls like
The trailer for this game hooked me, and I've been counting the days to its release for more than a month. But this is the second review I've seen where the reviewer quit the game because it was too unenjoyable to suffer through, and the third that laid out basically the same complaints about the combat, level design, and narrative. Gah! This was supposed to be the highlight of my week. Big disappointment!
Wow u didn't even give it a Score,he,he,he,& will I be checking /purchasing this game No just based on your review sounds like u had a horrible time and no fun so do I want to experience that NO....

Should I get it then?
@@emilovesyou3005 Absolutely, I think it's a game anyone should experience.
Reviewer: Aww Whuaa I hit, it no work 😢
The game was really fun and I had no regrets. Hell the game wasn’t really a problem for me

I saw this on Iron Pineapple's souls like serious
Looked like an entire fever trip
I saw this on Amazon and wondered what kind of game this is. Thanks for the review!
The game’s premise was so promising, it’s a damn shame indeed. I’ll wait for a deep sale, nonetheless.
i own the game, and after watching some reviews. i have decided that it will remain sealed haha.
I'll finish it
Love your channel...why don't you provide a review score out of 10 for your game reviews?
We do typically but only when we complete the games, chose to separate it out to provide some definition, it’s rare we don’t finish something
Think I'll steer clear of this one.
Thanks for telling me, dude. Definitely ain't buyin' it unless it's 4.99 or somethin'.
big mistake m8

Lol someone's bitter because we didn't like a game
@ you didn’t like that it wasn’t a souls clone.

Great review! Def the game had potential but in order to even be playable it needs to have stability to the feel and frame rate.

Sony are already talking of releasing playstion 6 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Short lifespan that.

I've been playing it and loving it, I'd say you can honestly ignore this review given that he didn't even get to the first boss
I also have been playing it and its highly enjoyable. Some games just arnt for some people.
Pls don't listen to them

Well maybe the game simply wasn't made for one type opf person to enjoy, I'd rate it 9.5/10
