  • We were on the Norwegian Escape and saw the Royal Princess cruise ship docking next to our ship in Nassau Bahamas. It was pretty neat to see a cruise ship pulling into port backwards up-close. Note that the video clips are sped up 5 times. Also included some photos we took of the Princess Cruise ship.

      She sure was! We were on the Norwegian Escape and that is the largest NCL ship. The Royal Princess looked just as massive and very impressive up close. We were lucky to have that vantage point. Thanks for watching!

    The "cushion effect" is better when the ship is parallel to the quay, as was the case on the video!

    I'm thinking of moving close to such a docking place, would there be allot of air pollution?

    • @TravelTouristVideos
      @TravelTouristVideos  6 років тому

      I’d imagine there would be some pollution- depends on how busy the port is. Air pollution from car traffic would probably be more of a factor than from ships.

      Sounds like you've been many amazing ports if that's what you're listing. For now it is definitely a good idea to avoid cruises. Once it's safe again, we can't wait to go back cruising.

    I'm wondering why she had a tug escort when we was backing in. I don't remember that being normal or required when I've been to Nassau.

    • @TravelTouristVideos
      @TravelTouristVideos  6 років тому

      I think it might have been because the Carnival cruise ship was right next to her, so it was a little close for comfort, so some extra guidance for safety. Thanks for watching!

      The port department normally bring out the tugs when the winds pick up to assist the ships with getting into the docks accident free-and as you can see from the video-it was quite a windy day.

    Nice video!
    I don't understand why tourists are allowed to walk so close when the ship is docking.

    • @TravelTouristVideos
      @TravelTouristVideos  7 років тому +1

      Yeah it'd be safer if they were not so close. There is a raised green bump a couple feet from the edge of the dock where tourists are not supposed to cross, but when the ship is docking the clearance should be a more than that. Thanks for watching!

      They are not tourists, they are the ships docking crew.

    • @peggyt1243
      @peggyt1243 6 років тому

      There were a lot of people on the dock. Only need 3 or 4 for shore crew. They were tourists or passengers on the ship on the next dock.
