If you like this Khmer city I made another video from the farthest western outpost near Kanchantaburi. Here is a link to it if you want to see. ua-cam.com/video/bENfsxmdo3k/v-deo.html
This is one of my older videos. I’ve learned so much about places like this since I was here. I need to go visit again and see what I missed during this visit. There is the lower city, another temple at the bottom of the hill, that is really nice also.
@@trilli7914 thanks for watching. It’s a great part of the regions history. I have been through here several times since I made this video. The lower city is also a great site. Here is the video of it if you didn’t see. Prasat Muang Tam - The Lower City - 11th Century Khmer Temple - Buriram Thailand 2024 ua-cam.com/video/adyhPWWTn7s/v-deo.html
So the literal translation would be big mountain. That makes sense considering it’s on a volcanic peak. There is a certain time of year where you can see the sunrise come straight through the doors of this temple. I need to go see this when it happens.

Phnom means mountain in Khmer and rung means deep or big in Khmer

Thats incorrect. Phnom means Mountain or Hill. Rung means Hard... as in Hardened Mountain which refers to this temple being built on an old volcano.
